Their food is usually good when done as ordered but there sometimes is little communication among the employees and it needs more organization getting their orders together. Taco Cabana was one of my favorite places to eat when I lived in San Antonio 30+years ago. I tried one in Dallas a few years ago and was very disappointed. I hoped that one farther South might be better. Unfortunately not. Its not terrible but its cheaply constructed fast food and cheap fast food quality. It used to be authentic Mexican food that was done quickly and tasted really good. No more. I guess like most places that grow bigger the food just can't keep up with the same quality. Oh well. In full disclosure before I moved to Texas in 2021, I'd never heard of Taco Cabana so I was kind of excited to visit even though no one ever recommend it to me. Taco Cabana is located in a safe location off of I-35 with an easy to enter and exit location. This facility has average speed to order as they always have a line but the employees are pretty nice. As far as sides go, their chips and queso are serviceable but I'm not a fan of queso especially lower quality queso than a sit-down establishment. It tastes like a Velveeta knock off with spices added in. The refried beans are about the same, however my stomach seemed to be unhappy with that decision. While I thought the Mexican Rice was good in flavor it was overcooked and gummy. Their soft drinks are much like any other chain so I don't have much to add other than they serve adult beverages? I haven't tried one but a drive thru with alcohol is a novel idea to me. The nachos were weak in that I was expecting more as it had a small portion size for the price. Moreover, they use a lot of cheap ingredients (chips & beans) to fill you up while the meats and guac on the steak fajita nachos were sparse. It was decent but good if the mindset recalls this is drive-in fair. The shredded chicken taco wasn't too bad. At least the chicken was seasoned and you can pick your toppings which is a plus. My favorite was probably the double crunch pizza with ground beef. I added lettuce and, in my opinion, this helped the product taste a bit better than without it as it added a nice texture. As for the burrito, the steak fajita was ok but don't go thinking it will be as big as those two other burrito-centric options out there. That said it wasn't bad. Overall, I view Taco Cabana as a step up from the other place you might be thinking about. While it's not earth shattering in terms of quality, the price is more or less budget friendly and certainly better than the other place I didn't mention. The staff here are nice and will fill your order quickly in the drive-thru. To wrap it up, I've been twice but haven't been back in years, nor do I feel compelled to do so with other superior options available. read more

After 30 minutes of waiting we only got our food after complaining at the counter and asking for a refund.The cashier dropped the F bomb on another customer repeatedly in front of the manager and she did nothing to stop her. I visited Taco Cabana for my first time. I found the restaurant to be small and charming. The service I received was fast. The food, excellent. I ordered two street tacos, equalling a total of six soft tacos on corn torts. The prices are not too expensive. SUPPLEMENTAL. I ate two tacos before work. I ate the other four at dinner while at work. Immediately after dinner, I had to literally run to the restroom. And again after that. My stomach was so upset that I had to leave my job five hours before the end of my shift. All I can say is, be careful what you order. I can't say all the food will cause diarrhea, but the street tacos surely caused me a lot of discomfort. I won't be returning. The symptoms reminded me of Taco Bell. The meat was dry. I couldn't even recognize that it was Carne Asada. It was flavorless. The corn tortillas were hard. The only good part was the cheese in the quesadilla and it was only good because they put cheese in it. So I'd have to write the soda pop was the best and the food two thumbs down. I used the drive through since I had a "Holideal" using their app as a rewards member. The app at first wasn't allowing me to use their daily deal of buy one breakfast taco , get one free. Aka BOGO. So I was able to verify my email address, their offers were going into my junk mail. Once I activated the offer, I told the cashier of the app offer BOGO. The order was originally $12 and some change. I gave my phone to the cashier so she could scan the offer, but it appears she manually entered the coupon, otherwise it would've came out to $6 something vs $9.47. Taco Cabana is just another word for gimmick. Their potato and egg tacos taste like old nasty grease, yuck! I'd give them away too. read more

You guys I realize this place doesn't have the best reviews but when we went here we had a great experience. First I just wanted to give a shout out to Felix. He was an elderly man that worked there and he was the sweetest person. I feel like he deserves a raise. He did so much to make sure our order was right and was also really fast. Most fast food places the employees don't care, but you could tell that this guy really cared about his job. Lastly the food was actually damn good. It was getting late... 950PM, but we were pleased to see that Taco Cabana still had its drive-thru open, even though it was ten minutes 'til close! The girl operating the drive-thru was very friendly and chipper. Unfortunately they were out of prickly pear and a couple other flavors, but I'd needed an excuse to try the strawberry mango (and mmm, I was glad I did!). On 10/30/24 @ 4:11pm I went in to place an order for 3 beef tacos, lg quesadilla , plain fries, mexican pizza, medium pico and a nacho. We received our number and sat down waiting for our order. There were a Hispanic couple sitting and eating when we order and me and my son. Moments later an Hispanic family of 4 came in to order. As my son and I sat there waiting on our order, the family that came in after us began to receive their order as they were dinning in. I noticed it was taking a while so I asked the employee (Cynthia) that took my order how much longer, by this time it was 4:50pm. She rushed to check and came out with my order at 4:55pm. I checked my order to make sure everything I paid for was in the bag. Low and behold I was missing the quesadilla and the medium pico. I went to the register and stood there another 5 to 6 min while your staff stood in the back playing as if they shouldn't be watching for customers are assisting the customers that were in your establishment. Another customer came in as I was standing there and he decided to leave because the wait was to long just to place an order. I noticed a young lady standing at the drive-though, I said excuse me twice no one answered. I repeated excuse me again , and the drive-though person YELLED at me and said I AM BUSY. I said excuse me!! She later to find out she is the person YOU hired to manage the store Kassandra!! She WAS so Rude so so RUDE to me and then John ( blonde head heavy set boy) comes from the kitchen to also argue with me and called me out of my name. I was the ONLY Black person in that store and I felt discriminated against and will absolutely take this complaints and treatment about your upper management level. Cold, soggy nachos, a taco that looked like it was leftover from somebody's fridge, and they left off the pico, guacamole, and salsa. So the restaurant is at 25% allowance for inside dining due to Covid. It is close to that % after I sat down. But there are still a couple of empty tables. They only have red salsa and whomever is filling the little Jell-O shot containers is skimping on it. Come on now, y'all can do better.
