A true hidden gem for Tacos AND Burritos in south Austin. Taco Brother is a small orange truck that's tucked into the corner of a gas station/liquor store parking lot and ran by a very nice family who puts a lot of passion into serving high quality mexican food. I've gone back several times and the food is consistently delicious - Their breakfast burritos and tacos are on point, and so are their lunch/dinner options. Tacos are a dime a dozen in Austin, and being a Mexican-American transplant from the Bay Area, I was VERY skeptical to try the burritos. Low and behold, I was and am consistently blown away by the size, flavor and texture that this spot serves up! When I order their breakfast burrito, I customize it with Eggs, Chorizo, Potatoes, Beans, and Cheese. It comes out HUGE and full of rich flavors that bring me back to my childhood weekend mornings. When I order their lunch/dinner burrito, I customize it by combining Asada and Pastor, and ask for rice, beans, sour creme, avocado, onions, and cilantro inside (Reminiscent of the burritos that my mom introduced me to in my youth from her home neighborhood of the SF Mission District). One bite of these bad boys and I'm brought to cloud 9 by the juicy, tender, flavorful meats that are well complimented by multiple layers of high quality Ingredients and wrapped to perfection. Not many Texan-Mexican spots lay claim to the burrito, and I'm completely fine with that. I also have no qualms with tacos reigning supreme out here because spots like El Tacorrido exist andy god they are the bees knees. This place just does both tacos and burritos very well, so I'll keep coming back for that alone. Their salsas are solid, too. Go green for a spicy tangy kick! Since moving here to Texas, I have been looking for a halfway decent burrito. It seems like everyone out here only makes and sells tacos and finding a good burrito is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I saw some pictures on YELP about this place, "Taco Brother." I went and tried it today and it was really good. I ordered the "grande burrito" and it came with avocado and I chose chicken for the meat. The only things that I would change about the burrito is instead of avocado I would put guacamole. Instead of slices of chicken I would have shredded chicken and the sour cream would go inside the burrito and not on the side, but all in all I was excited to finally find a good burrito. The tortilla was super soft and delicious and it was all freshly cooked. The prices were great too. I will definitely be back again. read more

Amazing every time! Been coming here for years and the quality is always fantastic! There's a little outdoor seating area but I usually just get it to go. Delicious, no-frills tacos in Southwest Austin. I'd driven by this place so many times and never even thought about stopping, but seeing all of these positive Yelp reviews convinced me otherwise. This taco truck is definitely worth a visit. It is in an unassuming location, just outside a gas station on Brodie. There is seating outside the truck, but the day we visited it was very windy, so we just ate in the car. We ordered at the window and the tacos were ready in a couple minutes. Lots of food options to choose from - many different tacos, burritos, and even quesadillas. I opted for an egg & cheese taco and a bean & cheese taco. Both tacos were very good, especially when paired with the mild salsa (you can choose from three different salsas). I should also mention - the flour tortillas were fresh and lightly toasted, and I liked them a lot. My seven-year-old son was with me and he wanted an egg & bacon taco (that is what he always wants, no matter where we get tacos from). He only has two descriptives - "it's good" or "I don't like it." His taco earned a "it's good" and he ate the entire taco, so that's a rave review from his end. I wish these guys opened late because they deserve to be open late meaning they can definitely attract more people. I went over to my friend's place which is close by. I was overwhelmed by the photos of the good food. I just decided to get the combo plate which is two meats, beans and rice. I chose the al pastor and steak which ended up to be good with corn tortillas. I made 5 tacos out of it. They take cards and you can get your drink at the liquor store. They are open at 7am and close at 5 pm. Definitely a truck worth checking out. read more

Just ok. We had the breakfast tacos and they are big buy pretty flavorless. Seems they had no seasoning and the tortillas were a bit stale. The service was good so they get 3 stars. Maybe their lunch is better? But it was a disappointment for breakfast. read more

I love this place. There are sooo many taco joints in town, but this one is our go to. They have the best portion/flavor combo. The tacos are inexpensive compared to any brick & mortar taco joints around. The green sauce is the best in my opinion. This corner has always been a little shady, but has a history of good trucks so I should've known. Finally stopped by on my way to work. Have only had the breakfast tacos so far - YUM. $2.25 each but they are huge - like a pound each and easily 3 eggs or more. Two is excessive, but this girl can put down some serious protein after deadlift day. Pretty excited to come back for the fries and the al pastor taco everyone raves about. For whatever reason, they don't sell drinks, but you can pop into the market there if you need something. Which btw, also has a large selection of booze should you prefer a beer with your taco, though I imagine you'll need to slip it into a Yeti if you dine in; they have a couple (covered!) picnic tables. You really get so much for your money. These taco's are PACKED and will most certainly ruin your hunger for lunch. They make some mean tacos and burritos. My fav to get from them is actually a steak burrito with potato added. I usually get 2 meal out of it and it is sooooo filling. They open early and I always find myself there early in the morning for my "breakfast burrito". They also have variety of meat on the offer and I tried half of their menu. Consistent every damn time! The guys at this truck are here and they serve up some of the fattest tacos around. I've tried a bunch from their regular menu and this morning, I brought in a variety of breakfast tacos. Not a single one left and everyone enjoyed them. I like both the green and red sauce. You tend to find this place accidentally -- it's in the corner of a convenience store/gas station parking lot. But when you do find it, you're glad you did. The food is terrific. I'm a big fan of the breakfast tacos -- which are stuffed full of goodness, and, despite what another reviewer claims, are quite flavorful. There are so many reasons taco brother is amazing. One: some of the most delicious tacos you can get in Austin. It's the best combination of fresh, flavorful, authentic, and affordable. The carne asada, pastor, and picadillo are all excellent. The fish taco is one of the best fish tacos I've ever had! The tacos are BIG. The breakfast tacos are also excellent. I love that if you eat your food there they serve it on reusable plates. Yay for looking out for the environment and being more sustainable! They have plenty of shaded seating. They also have plates and sandwiches but I haven't tried those. Can't wait to come again! read more

Whoa, this taco truck moved into the neighborhood quite some time ago but for some reason am just now trying it. Craving a morning breakfast taco, I ran over to give two a try from this truck. Holy cow, I loved the two I grabbed. I grew up half Hispanic on my mom's side and miss the homemade old fashioned breakfast my Grandma and family made often. This place nailed it for me. Granted, I've just had a potato and egg and a chorizo and egg, my two go-to's, but they won me over. I can't wait to come try lunch tacos here next. So glad its in my neighborhood! P.S. So freaking good! I recommend carne asada and I am super picky with steak. Everyone in our group loved it, even the pickiest of eaters (that usually ask for everything off of their food). Everything an Austin taco trailer at a gas station should be! Good tortillas, good verde salsa. I used to frequent Valentina's (which was at this same location) and watched wait times slowly increase and increase until now I can't get a brisket taco without waiting an hour at their new brick and mortar location. I'm hesitant to review Taco Brother for fear it may suffer the same fate. I recommend the chicken fajita tacos with cilantro and onions and the verde sauce. The beef fajita's are ok, but the chicken is better. I've also tried the pulled-pork french fries which were also good, but not anything to write home about. read more
