Stumbled upon this awesome Mexican Food Trailer one weekday searching for some tasty breakfast tacos. She was very nice and accommodating, and we had to try several as I spoke to some customers there who are repeat visitors and raved about her cooking. First off, she has homemade corn tortillas and they were fabulous! I've had homemade corn tortillas before and I'm not a big fan of corn tortillas in general as compared to flour because I guess they just have this corny flavor that was a bit too strong or didn't sit well. But wow when I tried her homemade corn tortillas they were so smooth and flavorful, and the corn flavor was delicate. You could tell when you tasted them that they were better quality than other corn tortillas and for the first time ever in my breakfast taco life I chose most all with corn tortillas over flour. That has never happened before until this visit to Tres Maria's. We got Migas, egg, bacon, and cheese, chorizo, egg, and cheese, Americana, and had to try Al Pastor. There was not a bad taco in the bunch. I think the egg bacon and cheese and the Americana were tops. One thing I noticed about her cooking is that she seasons conservatively so it's not too salty or over seasoned which I liked. Some people may view that as a little bland, but it still had great flavor just not over seasoned and I hate it when it's too salty. The chorizo, egg and cheese was not greasy at all, and I didn't feel horrible after eating it. She has quite a few repeat customers here and I spoke to them as it was my first time here to get their feedback. One couple ordered a burrito from her and I waited to see it and wow, it was Large Marge! She will make the burrito to your liking, and I even asked if she would grill it for me which I like and she said no problem! I loved her green salsa which was hot and it's your typical jalapeño with garlic and oil mix, my favorite. I liked the red salsa too, it was rustic. So many breakfast tacos and taco places to choose from but this lady here cranks out some delightful and delicious cuisine. Portions were perfect and she did not skimp on anything. But I'm telling you those homemade corn tortillas. She was so proud of them and I know why because they were by far the best corn tortillas I've ever had - no joke. She is very nice and has great energy and appreciates the business I highly recommend and I will definitely be back for more. read more

This truck has been on my list to try forever. Every time I drove by on my way elsewhere, I'd be reminded that the colorful truck needed my attention. Sadly, the old truck with the fun lettering has been changed and they have a blue one, but the aesthetic has nothing to do with how good the food is. I finally had the chance a few days ago when I was meeting a friend for lunch. He typically goes for tacos, but I saw the list of "platillos" on the right side of the order window and thought a quesadilla would hit the spot. I had something in the back of my head tell me I should ask how big it was, and I'm glad I did because when she showed me how large the tortilla was, my eyes nearly fell outta my skull. It had to have been 10" in diameter. I asked, "why so big?" and her response was, "to be sure that you're full." I love it when they're looking out for us. She was cool enough to show me a smaller pack of tortillas, so we went with that one instead. I did a beef fajita quesadilla (SO flavorful) without the rice and beans that the plate typically comes with, and my friend did a potato, egg, and cheese taco. Our grand total was $14. I did order in Spanish, but I think you could probably get by with English just fine. Plus, they take cards, so no worries there. read more

Went during the week to finally try this place out, and ordered the chorizo and egg taco, the Al pastor, and the a la Mexicana taco. Thankfully no wait, so I got to talk to the lady a bit about what's popular, and although the corn tortillas are made in "house" the flour ones are not (didn't realize until after I had already ordered and she told me). The chorizo and egg was mediocre. Definitely had way better so was disappointed with that. The al pastor was definitely tasty and the only one I enjoyed. The a La Mexicana was also rather bland and nothing to rave about. All the tacos seem to be about $3.50ish each although I'm not sure since they don't have any prices listed. read more

This is the taco truck you wish was walking distance from your house, and it happens to be just that for me. Incredibly kind ladies who make homemade corn tortillas in the truck. Solid breakfast tacos that are large sometimes I only need one. I love the pastor and picadillo tacos as well as the gorditas. Outstanding tacos! Very friendly people and the portions are huge. I always order about 3-4 tacos at a taco truck but here one or two would probably suffice (I still buy 3-4). The corn tortillas are made by hand and I'm pretty sure the red salsa is too bc it's not like other trucks offer, it's smoky and hot. Little food trailer in parking lot of gas station. I used Yelp's directions and it got me there with no trouble at all. Very good tacos. Gorditas are even better. These are not like Taco Bells gorditas, these are the real deal! oh how i miss having gorditas. Not something you can find in my hometown. Enjoy it Austin!!! Their spicy salsa is HOT. They warned me but I love hot stuff so I loaded my tacos. Whoa! They weren't kidding. Glasses slipped right off my nose with my first bite. HOT STUFF! I kept on using it though. Very tasty but you have been warned. We ordered a large order ahead and it was ready when i got there. Cash is best as they did have some trouble with their card reader due to the wi-fi. Also I want to mention the women are very trustworthy. My card wasn't going through so I paid cash. She said she cancelled it. INCREDIBLE CARNITAS!! We stopped at this tiny little taco stand for a quick bite before a road trip and it blew us away. I always go here for the Al Pastor tacos. They take into consideration what I like! They serve breakfast and meals at a reasonable price. They have picnic tables under shade so you can escape from the summer heat. Tres Maria's always serves me with a kind and helpful attitude and I always feel a sense of connection when ordering from them by call. This place is sooooooo good! Maria and her mom Elvira really care about the quality of their food. I asked her why she made tortillas if it was so much work and she said that the tortillas you buy in store have too many additives and you never know what you're getting but you do with these. They make traditional Mexican food that you usually don't find in Austin. This place is super affordable. I told Maria that some places sell tacos for $5 and she couldn't believe it!!! I have to admit that I have only tried the Breakfast tacos, but they were excellent. I stopped there one day and went back the next morning because they were so good. They were on "homemade" tortillas packed full of eggs, potatoes, and cheese. They make their own tortillas, and she said that they will sell them separately for you to take home. Oh my goodness, how have I not eaten from here before? We picked up some tacos yesterday. They were delicious. My mother in law got them, I think she said she just got their beef tacos. The beef was delicious, not ground beef almost like steak, the peppers were excellent, onions, the red salsa had a great kick, way spicy and the tortillas... This is an absolute hidden gem! If you want authentic tacos with homemade tortillas,go here! We had the chicken fajita, barbacoa, pastor and carnitas tacos. The barbacoa literally melted apart. The pastor and chicken were our favorites! The salsas are nice and fresh and HOT! This place is incredibly great for the price as well. $3/taco! Like others said, this place is a gem that deserves way more attention. I am vegetarian and even while not trying the meat tacos people rave about (I'm an egg and bean breakfast taco 4life), I can say these are the best tacos I've had in Austin. The key is the tortillas. Love the authentic breakfast tacos and homemade corn tortillas the best!! Haven't tried the lunch options but most of the egg combos are really yummy and affordable! You can add on to your taco of choice too, my fave right now is migas with avocado or eggs, beans, potato, cheese and guac with either bacon or no meat! Everything is made to order and cards are accepted. The sweet ladies do a great job and give really great prices when compared to bigger name taco places or the ones with top reviews that end up being overrated.
