First of all very over priced. Second it's a fast food joint trying to act like an authentic Mexican restaurant. The soft \ crispy tacos are okay, but would it kill them to have a regular bean burrito? It's very crappy food. Taco villa or anything taco related is way better than this sad greasy box. This had been my guilty pleasure of choice for over 2 years now! Taco Box is a great alternative to the normal fast food. Think of it as Taco Bell, but with actual taste. My current favorite on the menu is the BIg Baja Steak burrito. The staff is always friendly and always willing to assist. Drive-Thru for dinner on a rainy January night. Visited on suggestion from a couple of coworkers, despite the fact that I do NOT like "Fast Food." Sometimes, small chains are worth it. Tried the small "Deluxe Nacho Platter" with added jalapeños, sour cream, and guacamole. Additionally, I grabbed a Combo Burrito. Both were very reasonably priced, and even with the add-ons cost a total of about $7. The Service - Patient. Friendly. Courteous. Professional. Because of that, I didn't mind the "up-sell" with the guacamole and sour cream... so I gladly accepted. The Food: - The Small Deluxe Nachos - Serving Size is about the size of a large "burger box." For fast food, this was surprisingly good. The chips stayed generally crispy. The cheese, beans, and meat stayed warm. (I only had about an 8-10 min drive home). The cold ingredients were pretty darned fresh, considering the source. I'd be happy to have this again. - The Combo Burrito - Unfortunately, in comparison with the nachos, this is boring. It's not bad, per se... just not very exciting. The description of "taco meat, refried beans, and Cheddar cheese" sums it up. Could use some more flavors and/or something fresh in there with some tang/zip. Overall - Is this place on the same level as an authentic Tex-Mex or Mexican place where I'm the only gringo in the joint? No. That said, I visit this place when I want more of a fast food experience, but with quality grub. Forget other fast food taco chains with bells and dels [sic]... come give Taco Box a try. Get the Deluxe Nachos. Splurge a little on the guacamole and sour cream. Absolutely get the jalapeños. read more

LOVE Taco Box!!! Taco Box is an icon in New Mexico. I'm originally from Clovis and currently live in Dallas. Every time I go home I have to hit up Taco Box at least several times. The food is fresh, homemade, authentic and delicious! Probably the best chile cheese burger ever! Also get a frijole burrito and Spanish fries--don't forget the Ranch dressing! Top it off with a large lemon-lime Dr. Pepper. The mixed sodas are awesome! I'm going to Clovis in 2 weeks and I cannot wait!! By the way. my first job was at the Taco Box in Portales in 1989. Taco Box is an institution here in Clovis. You have to stop by...just because. Anything fried here is amazing, mozzarella sticks being my personal fav. Burgers...eh...so so and tacos aren't very good. Everything else though? Very good! Great salsa as well! read more

I love Taco Box. Not for the tacos, burritos, nachos, pigs in a poncho, or any of the Tex Mex staples this restaurant is famous for. No, I love Taco Box for their Green Chile Cheese Burgers. Any restaurant in Clovis worth their salt has green chile on the menu but no one does it better than Taco Box. Perfect bun, just enough lettuce, red onion, fresh crispy pickles, 2 slices of cheese, a good beef patty and that green stuff that is the culinary life blood of a true New Mexican, green chile. I take this hamburger very seriously. Its the best burger in town. I would fight a pack of starved coyotes for this burger.
