Absolutely overpriced and overrated. I ordered their version of Casio e Pepe. It had died pork, perhaps Guanciale. It tasted rancid and the pasta was exceptionally dry. I sent it back My wife ordered the Filet Oscar. The brown gravy was reminiscent of lunch in middle school where Salisbury steak with brown gravy was served. We went in for dinner. The place is really cool on the inside unfortunately we were seated outside. Flies and mosquitos were ever present. Our waitress didn't seem to care about waiting on us. She only came by a few times to check on us. The food was sub par. The prices were outrageous. A bowl of fettuccine Alfredo with a touch of red sauce and some hard as a rock rib eye meatballs was $59. The wife tried to eat the meatball but it was too hard to cut. I had the fettuccine Alfredo and honestly Olive Garden's was better than this. It arrived lukewarm with very little sauce. No salad only some bread and butter. Set inside the historic railway station there are displays throughout the restaurant of historic and model railway items and a friendly wax conductor who welcomes you as you walk up. I wish I could give them extra stars. What a fabulous hidden gem in Clovis, NM. This place is completely unexpected. It's a beautiful historic building right on the railroad tracks, with a lovely covered patio. The wine list is the equivalent of what you would find in any hip restaurant in California. The dishes are tasty, especially the chile seared beef tenderloin. I've been told to try the brunch and curry dishes, but haven't had a chance quite yet. The service is fantastic, everyone is so friendly and attentive. I travel for work A LOT, and I wish every town I visited had The Rails. The Rails is definitely the nicest restaurant in the Clovis area. The cocktails were good. The entrees were the best you'll find within 100 miles. Highly recommended if you are looking for a good steak dinner. The green chili burger was ok and the side salad was basic. The flatbread appetizer was also ok. I would recommend the risotto balls for an appetizer instead. We split two dessert between our group because they all sounds so delicious. They did not disappoint. Had dinner there a couple of nights ago. The food was excellent, but had a little glitch in the meal--the entrees came out while we were eating the salads. I mentioned it to the server and she shrugged it off. "The kitchen is busy." A manager-type came by later and asked how the meal was. I told him we were still working on the salads when the steaks came out. No real apology, just a sort of "these things happen" and a shoulder shrug. I was expecting something a little more....sincere...plus often with something like that they'd offer a free drink or a dessert or something. The Rails was amazing. Easily the best dining choice in Clovis. We went for a date night and had the risotto balls (must get), superchief yardbird, and my wife got the blackened salmon. She said it was the best salmon she's ever had. Perfectly seasoned, flaky, and moist. Which is a lot for her to say considering we're in Clovis. Decent bar selection. Great environment. Staff was great. We are outdoors and they had these little fly swatter fans at the tables that repel all the crazy Clovis mosquitos. What a feat. Wow Tate is a one of kind dude. He was very nervous serving us at first but once he got out of his shell he was firing off the jokes! The man clearly has 4 kids so he's quite a stress ball but he really tapped in after seeing how much we were drinking. We snubbed him with our tip but beggars can't be choosers! New establishment opened a few days ago (per waitress) Thought we would stop in for dinner and see what they had. Atmosphere was nice. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice cool breeze as we listened to the trains roar by behind the building. I got the 12oz. Ribeye medium with a side of Asparagus and the Truffle Mushroom Sauce with a Spicy Margarita. My hubby got the Bacon Burger with a side Salad and a 12oz beer to wash it down with. Drinks took awhile to be brought to us and my margarita was extremely spicy. I could have sworn my ears were shooting out smoke. (A lot of Green-chili liquor) After a bit of a wait on the food the hubby finds that the burger had almost a head of lettuce in it so it's like he got 2 salads for the price of one. He said the patty was good but very tough however his patty was nowhere near as tough as my steak. (Thankful I didn't lose any teeth trying to eat it). The flavor was great and so was the mushroom truffles. Asparagus was also a bit overcooked but again had a good flavor. (Think we had meat from an old cow) Lol Needless to say my jaw now hurts due to all that chewing but we were not done yet...we decided to have some dessert. I had the key lime cream cheese pie and he ordered the espresso crème brûlée. The pie was plain...no cream on top but still good (when you get past the refrigerator taste). The espresso crème brûlée was very delicious but no espresso taste just a delicious plain crème brûlée. All in all...we tried it but will not go back. Overpriced for the quality of food served. You should really update your times on Google maps. If your not a regular and visiting this small town you wouldn't know that this places kitchen closes at 9. Therefore this establishment needs to recognize that and change it so people like myself don't waste the time or energy to go there. Then the person handling phone calls is very unprofessional and doesn't know how to handle situations, so they hang up on you politely! LOVE The Rails!!! The food is excellent; we were traveling through Clovis, staying over one night. Read some restaurant reviews on Yelp and thought the Rails looked like a good option. WOW! What an unexpected treat! My husband is a huge fan of trains. We loved finding ourselves in the original Clovis train station from the early 1900's. Right next door to an original Harvey House (really hoping someone invests in fixing THAT up!). Trains were right outside the back of the restaurant. It was very cool. Our waiter, Alex was happy with our train enthusiasm and gave us a lot of cool information about the place and encouraged us to go out the back door to look at the trains. He later introduced us to one of the managers, MaryBeth. We love her!!! Had so much to talk about... we ended up going back the next morning for brunch before heading out of town. The patio atmosphere was great. Our server was great, attentive considering she had multiple large groups. Our Margaritas were very good. The food was good, but in our opinion not as good as it should be for the price. The filet was not the grade it should be for premium prices.
