We tried to go to 4 other fancier places that had a wait or were closed midweek and I am SO GLAD they were closed. Taco Billy was shockingly good. The service was friendly and the food was not ordinary good it was fantastic! The chips and guac were probably the best I've had that weren't prepared table side. I had the San Cris (pork) and the Yardbird (chicken) tacos and they were stunningly good. I talked to the Kelly the GM to tell her how awesome it was and she was so friendly and engaging. This is not an average good place, this is seriously delicious food. Don't pass on this place because of the casual vibe. And, don't forget to find all the goats in the vintage paintings. So fun!

Service and ambiance always great because the place was relaxing and it only took a matter of minutes to deliver. I got myself two Mama's Favorites, which are breakfast tacos consisting of sausage, scrambled egg, spinach, sweet potatoes and goat cheese on a homemade plantain tortilla. Every time I get it, it's enjoyable. Flavors work nicely together. Just the best breakfast tacos I've ever had. In other words, Mama's Favorite? More like Luca's Favorite.

We came here for dinner one night while in BM and had a great experience. This place came recommended from a friend and we could see why! The tacos were excellent and our whole table loved the chips and guac/queso dip. It's counter service, and they recommended '1 taco is a snack, 2 tacos are a meal', so, being hungry, I got three. All three were overflowing to the point I had to eat some before attempting to roll it up (a great problem to have). I love this place and am making it a 'must-have' on our next visit to BM!

I really enjoyed my experience at Taco Billy. We visited on a Thursday and they had frozen margaritas and chips and queso available for $5 each. I was tempted to grab these deals, but didn't since I already had two tacos in mind and they would fill me up. The clerk at the counter was friendly and efficient at taking my order. I got the Mama's Favorite & the Lunch Lady. I chose green salsa, which had a mild spice, to put on my tacos. The Mama's Favorite was my favorite as it came on a plantain shell... something I have never seen before & I do love me some plantains! It was SO tasty! It was filled with breakfast items including: eggs, sausage, spinach, sweet potato and goat cheese and the shell was soft and slightly sweet. The Lunch Lady was also good with its shredded mole chicken, pickled onions and queso fresco. Even though there was not table service, a staff member still came and asked us how everything was and if we had any questions. The bathrooms were clean. I will definitely visit Taco Billy next time I am in town and will be dreaming about the plantain shell until then!

Morita pork taco and Yard Bird taco

Me and the wife were attending the Sourwood Honey Festival. Decided to try Taco Billy. I had the Morita pork taco and Yard Bird taco. We split the guacamole and chip. All were very good and tasty at a reasonable price. . TB is worth a try.

Absolutely delicious and worth the price. The combinations are not as creative as White Duck but the portion size makes up for it. We each got two tacos and it was plenty. There is one table for two outside the front door. We were able to seat three people and a dog by rotating who sat in the chairs and the bench.

I love taco Billy. I've been going to their west Asheville location for ages and finally made it to the black mountain one. If you like breakfast tacos you will love it here. This location was less busy than the Asheville one which I loved. The staff was super friendly and it's a lovely spot. I know they had some issues opening but it was worth the wait. Highly recommend! I will be back.

What started out rocky ended up positive. I love taco Billy. Back in the day, the first time I lived in Asheville, I lived within walking distance of the other taco Billy location. You can imagine how often I went there. I've been a few times that location last year but since I was driving through Black Mountain, I decided to grab a little snack at the new location. For some reason, the online ordering would not accept my Apple Pay even though I kept trying. Seems like it was an issue with my card. So I decided to stop in and order one quick taco to go. Loving the new decor and space. Similar to the old one which is also now expanded. Great energy inside with a little bar and plenty of seating. All very clean, and fun feeling. There was a little bit of a line when I got here, but I was fine to wait. The person working the cashier seemed a little flustered and was quite scattered. My favorite when I ate meat was the Billie Holiday so I asked her if it would make more sense that I ordered that and swapped out the meat for veggie chorizo, or if I made my own. She said she could easily do a swap. Again, I clarified that it would be more cost efficient and smart doing that and she agreed. When she totaled up my order, I noticed that it was seven dollars. So then I said to her "no, it looks like it would've made more sense for me to build your own because I only want three things". She accidentally sent that order to the back so then she had to spend some time canceling it and re-doing my order. She seemed annoyed at me, but I asked prior to ordering. In her redo, she left off the eggs. In her defense, she did say "is that all?" so maybe she didn't hear and she was re-clarifying. Would've made more sense to re-clarify by stating what she believed I ordered specifically. I guess something maybe happened with the kitchen, and this order never got sent back, even though I paid and tipped. I was standing and waiting for it about five minutes when somebody who was perhaps a kitchen manager came and checked in with me. At this point I've been in the restaurant about 15 minutes. I told them it was fine, that I could wait a little bit. As I continued to wait, A few more really kind workers came up and checked in with me because they noticed I've been standing there a while. Honestly, all of these other workers are the ones that completely saved my experience and overall feeling about the establishment. Finally, I got my taco but based on this situation, I had a not good feeling so I checked it. Yep-it was wrong. Just veggie chorizo and cheese. Extremely flustered and frustrated (after clearly, stating what I wanted multiple times and waiting 30 minutes) I walked back into the store to let them know. The cashier started arguing with me telling me that's not what I ordered which felt uncomfortable and so I just said it was fine and left. The manager followed me out, offering a gift card or a redo. He then said he would just comp my order. I was really late for my event at this point, but I accepted- just got the comp. Very kind and responsible offer. As he was coming in, somebody from the kitchen made the correct order. Very quickly. Nice! In conclusion, I don't recommend just veggie, chorizo and cheese, because that's a little boring. However, building your own to make it veggie friendly is always a win. I think it might be nice if they let you swap out regular meat for a veggie meat even is that a little cost just to simplify the menu/ordering. Also, in conclusion, just be nice. I worked in the service industry for a long time and I have a lot of respect and understanding. All of those really nice staff who showed they cared made a difference. I am always going to love this place. So glad that the Black Mountain location did not leave a bad taste in my mouth overall. I love how much they pack the tacos full. I love the red sauce they serve it with (even though she didn't ask me what sauce I wanted, I got that one). I love their queso and frozen margaritas. I love the decor and local feel.
