My husband and I spent the weekend in Asheville and heading back home we decided to stay overnight here. For people that don't know. This town and the adjoining town of Swannanoa was hit terribly by the hurricane in Sept 2024. They are really trying to get some tourist to come back . They need it. When you get off the exit go left and check out the adorable little town. Lots of boutiques and from what I can tell. This town has lots of little art stores and shops and really nice people. Come dinner time, we found this place. The menu was large and the staff very accommodating. The food was delicious. My husband and I have zero complaints about our food or experience. This was the first place I've ever been that served warm bean dip with your chips. It was delicious. I can't wait to go back. Go visit Black Mountain and show support by shopping and eating there. Take a drive up the mountain too. I'm already planning big to go back ! read more

Seated right away. It's Sunday so they close early today. Lots of variety in the salsa bar and I definitely made more flavors by mixing. The veggie soup and shrimp soup are so good! I had cheese enchilada and they were very good. I am a lover of sauce and do wish they had a bit more sauce. The chili relleno was very yummy . The food came out really fast.. And the service was great. Wish I would have gotten the young man's name who helped us. He was blonde with a nose ring and very sweet. Everything I had was so yummy I had to take a flan to go I snuck a little taste and it was yummy. A bit strong in flavor but I am looking forward to eating that as soon as I get back to my room. Margaritas are great as usual, Not sure I've ever really had a bad Margarita. As long as it has tequila, I'm a happy girl. All in all, this was a great stop and I would highly recommend. read more

5 stars for service! I was watching the staff working outside and they were working their tails off. It looked like 2 servers were handling the outside tables and it was a full house on a Monday between 6-7pm and our server still checked in on us and was really nice. Monday's there is a house margarita special and it was fine. It was as you might expect a $5 margarita to be. I ordered the chicken fajitas and my husband ordered the house special which had a Chile relleno, enchilada and tamale. I couldn't believe how much food came with my fajitas and it was so good!! My husband had a few bites of it and said he would order it the next time. His was good but mine was just THAT good that he had food envy. Even with him helping me with my food, I still brought home half of the chicken,onions and peppers. (It also had zucchini and summer squash slices in it which I loved.). Terrible service, waiting for a table my family and I proceeded to the bar for a drink. I asked the bar tender if she can serve us. Her response was yes, so we waited for her as it seemed that she was having an issue with a receipt. My perception was false, she was actively avoiding to serve us as she was joking in the corner carrying a conversation that had nothing to do with service or customers. 12 minutes later a couple sat at the bar while we were still waiting to order drinks. She proceeded to serve the couple that sat at the bar. I asked her if we can please put in an order for our drinks as we were still waiting. Her response was no, she is going to serve the couple at the bar that came after us because they were going to eat at the bar. We told her we were waiting to eat but also wanted drinks. She didn't care, nor did the manager. Terrible customer service. Will never come back here and you shouldn't either. read more

Great service and food at affordable prices. We sat at the bar because there was a wait for a table. They bring you chips and refried bean dip. There is a salsa bar in the dining room where you can fill little plastic contains with the different sauces. There were about 8 sauces. All fresh and tasty. The chips they gave us were a little stale. My friend ordered the $3.99 margarita special. It was very sweet and didn't seem to have any tequila in it. I had the two taco plate. You can choose meats like carnitas, steak, Al pastor, ground beef, chicken all for the same price! I had the carnitas and steak and both were good. They were served with rice and beans for $10. The tacos are loaded with meat. My friend ordered his two tacos Ala carte and they were huge. I would return. read more

The menu is WAY too large offering like 100 (maybe more) different dishes which mostly have a lot of the same ingredients listed and is a little confusing. The food is OK. We had a hankering for Mexican again this evening and tried their Spinach Burrito and Shrimp Flautas Chetumal and I highly recommend both of them. The spinach burrito was delicious and is a large flour tortilla filled with sautéed spinach and red onions, filled with beans and cheese, served with lettuce, sour cream and rice. The shrimp flautas Chetumal was also very delicious. We love Ole's! The food is always so good, and the price for the amount of food you get is always a good deal! We did take-out this time, but the atmosphere was good. Playing Spanish Christmas music was a nice touch. The only problem we had was with the service. The guy who was running the take out register did not know how to make change. Arrive hungry. My family and I have come from greater Charlotte area, the coast of SC, and western NC have gathered at Ole's tables a few times over the years, and I am glad I can share my opinion. There are many lovely options in the Black Mountain area for good meals. The comfort of tasty Latin American food draws us back! Love love love the location. Pretty decent Mexican with a great vibe and location. The place was busy and the servers were super sweet but a bit distracted (kept forgetting orders, forgetting menus, forgetting to combine checks etc). Overall apologetic and delightful. The price isn't super cheap but they do have an a la carte menu. You get chips and beans when you sit (standard). For a veggie salad add shrimp it was $14. You got to add a meat but they would not let me add fish as there was a separate fish salad but I didn't want that because it seemed more carb heavy. Weird. Had to add shrimp (extra) to the other one. For three chicken enchiladas we're looking at $13. Both meals were hearty and left us with an entire second meal. Reheated well. Again, super good view. The drinks varied in price (house marg around $6 and some $4 beers but also speciality drinks for more). Didn't drink this time but I'd go back for sure. read more

Was greeted after a few minutes at the door. I waited patiently just because it was busy. Went to order a drink at the bar. The bartender ignored me and kept on just walking around the bar aimlessly. Again I asked her if she can serve us some drinks. She answered by asking if we were sitting at a table. We responded that we were waiting on a table but wanted to get some beers before. She turned around and started talking to someone else. She then brought plates and napkins to another party who sat down after we were there at the bar. She immediately approached and took their order. We asked her why she didn't take ours. Her response was that we were not sitting there so she wasn't going to take our beer order. We stopped here after an afternoon in Black Mountain. We choose Tuesday to explore but literally all the places we wanted to eat at in town were closed, so we found Oles. WOW, Ole's Guacamole was such a disappointment! We came here while traveling on Cinco de Mayo because of strong yelp reviews. Yelp may have missed the mark on this one. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't terrible, and nothing bad happened, but the food was just not good Mex food, and at a place called Ole's Guacamole they should have guac on everything! They don't seem to have it on anything. I think the only way to get guac is to get the table made guacamole side which is not a realistic amount of food to add for two people -- I cannot take it home, and cannot consume an extra 1000 calories. Chips come with refried instead of salsa but there is a salsa bar where you put a really interesting diverse set of disappointing salsas into little to-go cups. The Refried beans was interesting. They seem to be made with chicken fat or chicken grease, and they are very soft. Until it got them to my lips I thought it was a queso, it was so soft. I love when restaurants innovate like this, and at first I liked the refried but I grew tired of it quickly and then later I just could not eat it. It was just hitting me wrong, but the first few bites were really good. I cannot explain that. We got enchiladas and a chili relleno served with no guac, no salsa, no pico, no tomato. It looked unfinished, and I would have thought they forgot to garnish it before coming out but it had sour cream and shredded lettuce. Confusing. Why so little effort? So, it is not terrible but, if you come here expecting to be wowed with great Mexican food, you will likely leave disappointed. read more

We decided to stop at Ole's Guacamole on a Saturday night during a monsoon. The place was packed so we ended up taking open seats at the bar to avoid at least a 30 minute wait. They start out by giving you a basket of complimentary chips and bowl of refried beans but fail to tell you that they have salsa bar. I tried out several of the salsas and many of them were delicious! Their mild salsa tasted like tomato juice so I passed on that one. We also ordered some cheese dip that was typical of most Mexican restaurants and was quite tasty. I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos that came with a side of rice and refried beans. The food was just ok. It wasn't anything special. I wouldn't order it again. The tacos had so much stuff on it I ended up just picking the shrimp off the tacos and eating them on their own. The soft taco shell was soggy and falling apart. I love Mexican food but I would pass on coming back to this place. read more

They have a salsa bar which was fu. You are allowed to try out all the different type of salsa with your nachos before your meal comes.
