    Rice over cooked
    Shelby H.

The first time I'd ever eaten here it was fantastic. In the past year it has went very down hill. The past few times I've eaten their tamales they have been horrible and I'm not over exaggerating in the slightest. They've become small hard rocks at this point. I decided to just go with something else from the menu, the ACP, it's a classic right? well somehow they've managed to do away with the quality of this dish as well, the rice over cooked and just plain sad, the chicken rubbery and at this point I don't even think it's real chicken. I am very upset with how this place has down graded I used to love it! The only good thing about this place are the servers always so nice and kind. I just think they need to have the owner come in and see how the food is served and maybe just maybe they will see the food is just unbearable.

To all restaurants - please stop the French fry nacho thing - I've tried it from multiple places and it's always bad. 1/5 stars.

I'll make a long story short here. My server was nice, but my food wasn't. Everything was served overcooked and bland. I will never be back, which is a pity because the lunch prices are excellent but the food mediocre. The reason why I will never be back, is because my meal was served completely overcooked and greasy so I sent it back in place of something else. Because I took like one bite of each thing and realized none of it was edible before sending it back they wanted to haggle on the price. First 1/2 price. Then $3. I didn't feel like dealing with this ridiculousness anymore so I just balanced the $3 out of the tip in frustration since I couldn't even see any servers the whole time with the ridiculous wall that they have where none of their customers can see the servers. I had to raise my hands in the air like I was doing the wave trying to get my servers' attention multiple times. Due to mediocre food & poor treatment I'll likely never return. Good riddance. 1/5 stars.

Super disgusted with how my food taste !!! I am so mad right now i got this food and got home and it tastes disgusting!!! The rice tasted like it was in the fridge for days open the beans taste straight out of a can the chicharron tastes old and dry and the food just has a foul odor to it !! I AM NEVER EVER GOING TO THIS PLACE!! LA COMIDA ES UNA DESGRACIA NUNCA VOY A VOLVER A COMER AHI I LITERALLY JUST THREW EVERYTHING OUT

Now I have to pick thru and pick it all out.

I have been visiting Black Mountain for years but haven't tried this interesting restaurant yet…read more Today was the day for me/us and marked the day the train returned on its route through Black Mountain. We were impressed by the interest and fanfare this post-Helene event created for the locals. Parking on the street, across the street or a short way up the street is town free parking. Shannon and Rain were our friendly and helpful servers. There are many seating options. We chose the sun room which was comfortable. Others were seated outside on the side porch and several people were inside. We shared a bowl of the delicious French onion soup. Eat it while it's hot for the best experience. The buckwheat crepes were the perfect consistency to handle the savory entrees. My Market crepe was packed full of goodies including the sausage add-on. Each ingredient stood well on its own. The pesto was a standout. My partner got the mushroom crepe with chicken. She enjoyed immensely. Both entrees came with a fresh greens and balsamic dressing. The servings were generous enough to bring two halves home for dinner. Sharing soup and a savory crepe is a reasonable strategy if leaving leftovers in your vehicle during the summer heat is a concern. We joined the servers on the patio to watch the return of the train through a nicely recovering town.

The restaurant and patio bar are within walking distance to other spots in downtown Black Mountain, easily walkable if you are staying at an Airbnb in the local area like we were. The cocktails were glorious. On the first night, Puck's Potion and Negroni were very enjoyable. We found ourselves at the outdoor bar with the patio behind us, surrounded by quaint shops offering various retail and service options. The bartender that served us was super cool on the first night. We didn't have to wait for stools and enjoyed our cocktails on high-top seats. The second time we went, which was our last night in town, we had a reservation and went downstairs into the cellar. That's fine in normal cold weather, but at 22 degrees the overhead heaters just don't quite cut it. I think this part of the experience could use a little revision. My wife had pancakes with vanilla syrup and sausage. I ordered the classic breakfast with eggs, grits, sausage, and toast. Everything was very flavorful. My only complaint was that my food was lukewarm. It seemed like my food may have been finished and sat for a few minutes while my wife's pancakes were completed. On a cold morning, I would have preferred a hotter meal, the grits weren't warm enough to melt the butter, and the toast was cold, so I didn't even attempt to butter it. That said, even with the temperature issue, the food was still very tasty, and given how cold it was outside, I'm willing to let it slide. Everything arrived quickly, and the restaurant itself is very quaint, set in an old home that is very clean. On our first visit, they offered chocolate chip cookies to go, and they were excellent! They didn't have any this time, but we'll be back again to try our luck. To those about to nosh, I salute you!!
