Definitely the best Mexican food I have found in Asheville. Very friendly staff. Order at the counter and they call your number. Plenty of tables but it does get busy.

Unassuming and casual "hole in the wall" that serves authentic Mexican cuisine. When searching the area, I found many popular Mexican spots that clearly weren't the real deal. I can't stand unauthentic, bland tacos. Thankfully, Taquería Muñoz provides delicious Mexican delicacies in a warm, homey environment. The staff are all kind and work hard to ensure customers are satisfied. Structure wise, I suggest signs be posted to say where the trash cans are. If you're sitting near the order area, you may not notice them. As a result, many customers left their trash at the tables for staff or upcoming customers to clean. I personally loved the sides bar to pick and choose the amount of salsas, cilantro, onions, and other toppings you want. I ordered a chicken tamale with 3 tacos- carnitas, al pastor, and pollo. Of course, the pastor was my favorite- I just wish pineapple slices were included. The pollo wasn't bad, but I wish it had more flavor as it tasted basic to me. The carnitas were not bad. Honestly, the salsas and fresh toppings really made it for me. The tamale was just okay, but with all the fixings and salsa verde specifically it was great. Their agua frescas come in HUGE portions. I got a peach agua fresca which was very sugary yet tasted like fresh peach purée. Overall, decent agua fresca. I just wish the pineapple one was available when I was there. This is the most legit Mexican you'll find in the area. It's definitely worth a try. The salsas really make it taste amazing. Is it the best I've ever had? Not quite. Is it very good considering the area? Absolutely, yes.

This place is a little jewel. Real street Mex with no flare - just simply-prepared food. The tacos were good and we missed the entire menu for the plates and will be sure to get a full plate next time. The salsa and fixings bar was clean and fresh and a great way to top your selections. Service was quick and the ambiance with brightly-painted walls, tables and chairs made the cramped space enjoyable.

Absolutely the most underrated restaurant in Asheville. In a town full of taco places, this is by far the best spot. It's not even close. I love that i can get a quesadilla on a corn tortilla and pickled jalapeños, onion and carrot mix from the salsa bar. I like how relaxed the atmosphere is. You order at the counter and there's lots of booths and tables to eat in or you can take out. Don't sleep on this place. Also hit up the little store connected as well for grocery items.

Taqueria Munoz is authentic Mexican in AVL. We opted for street tacos, asada. They were packed to the gills. Totally worth the price. The birria was served up on a plate of four and a huge side of consommé. Be sure to grab the house made juices, perfection. There is a condiment bar to grab up all the toppings you need for your deliciousness. There is a market attached for all your authentic cooking needs.

Some of the best tortillas I've had in my life! Taqueria Munoz will always be one of my favorite bites to eat! Their tacos are simple and pure in the best way. There are few ingredients but all of them are fresh and done well. I love their carnitas and steak which are perfectly seasoned and caramelized but the star of the show are their light, perfectly cooked homemade tortillas and sauces. I dream about their tortillas and wish I knew how to make them at home!

Delicious tacos with generous helpings and affordable pricing. A go to for taco Tuesday

Menu- sorry I didn't get the English side of it!

While they only offer a handful of items there are a host of options for those items! There are numerous meats available and a host of vegetarian options as well including Huitlacoche, Squash Blossoms, Cactus and more (even more crazy these were fresh not canned or frozen). I counted about 17 different meats or veggie options. The food was cooked fresh to order, and the portions were generous! They also have a cold bar with self service code sauces, salsas and toppings to further customize your meal. The service was great, and the workers obviously take great pride in what they do. The dining room and bathrooms were clean and neat.

If you've ever been to a restaurant in a small town or village in Mexico, Taqueria Muñoz may seem familiar to you. The tables and chairs are classic style, a majority of customers are local Hispanic folks and the servers call your number in Spanish when your food is ready. Taqueria Muñoz is definitely authentic. Whether you like it or not probably depends on whether you enjoy a margarita and a good sit-down meal or whether you want true Mexican-style tacos, burritos, sapos and other dishes served fast-food style. Prices aren't high, but don't expect ultra cheap, either. For example, burritos are $8, tortas are $9, most tacos are around $4 and the dinner specials are around $13 or $14. No beer or wine, but you can get made-in-Mexico Coke.

Torta (asada) - this is only 1/2 the sandwich.

They have a new location in 'south' Asheville not far from the Biltmore Estate on Hendersonville Rd. It's just past the I-40 interchange. The service is prompt, prices reasonable and the food off the charts good. My go-to is the torta. They also have huitlacoche which isn't the easiest thing to find around town.

Delicious, authentic Mexican food here in Asheville. Order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. This is a no-frills establishment, but the food is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!

Incredible tacos. Generous portions. Loved the steak, chorizo, al pastor, and birria. All swings. No misses. Can't wait to return.

I shoehorned myself in there and asked the guys on either side of me what they thought. One was a regular, the other also a newbie like me. The newbie said his loaded nachos were very good, but too big. I didn't want a lot. The regular told me I couldn't go wrong with the street tacos. The bartender confirmed. She was awesome, but didn't catch her name. Very nice, knowledgeable and attentive. I was going to order two steak tacos, but the bartender thought I should try the carnitas for one of them. They were both good, but the carnitas was excellent. Should have done both as carnitas! They came with a nice serving of rice and beans that were actually good! It's a big place right on Merrimon and like many restaurants on that street, parking is at a premium. There are like five spots on the side street right next to the building, but if you don't get one of those, you be walking either on the side street behind the building or across Merrimon. I was on the side street about two blocks behind the building at about 5:45pm. It's free parking, but plan accordingly. You may be walking a bit.

I used DoorDash and followed all the instruction prompts on the menu. I ordered the poblano fajitas which were $22 and did not opt for any of the add-ons which were for sauces and desserts. I did order two fountain sodas that came in small size at $3.89 each. Turns out they were just two cups filled with ice and with a little bit of soda added. The fajita that showed up was supposed to be chicken bacon and shrimp but really there was just bacon with two pieces of chicken and two shrimp. It was all in a big pool together with the lettuce the sour cream, tomatoes and the melted cheese in the larger section of the styrofoam to- go container. The order also came with chips and some really eerie looking brown dip for the chips. The two smaller sections of the container were a little tiny portion of rice and a little tiny half portion of runny beans. All of this was delivered with NO TORTILLAS-- like we were to eat our fajitas with a spoon. When the restaurant was called to be notified of this, they said that we were supposed to order the tortillas after we clicked on the fajita but when we went back to check there was no place for that to happen. As I said it was just desserts and sauces. I have to say the DoorDash was also incompetent. They refused to go get us tortillas even though the restaurant is 2 mi from my house and that's their job. Neither them or the restaurant offered to compensate anything for us. When I called the restaurant to speak to the manager he hung up on me when he didn't know what else to say. I thought we must have gotten disconnected so I called back hoping for some resolution and instead a woman answered the phone and was extremely rude. She repeatedly asked me what did I want, what did I want them to do- in a very curt manner. In the end of food was terrible on top of being poorly executed and missing components. I would never eat here again as the entire meal was $30 and there was nothing to it but a soggy soup of bacon and runny beans.

At first I was a little disappointed, but then I saw how much food I got for my meal, and I'm glad that I didn't get the chips and salsa b/c I wouldn't have been able to eat my meal! For entrees, I got the Grilled Garlic Steak Toastadas + grilled veggies + salad. My husband got the Puffy Wrap w/ Chicken + yuca + salad. It was so much food!
