Whoa. Sometimes you…read morejust happen to find a hidden gem that has yet to be reviewed, and Tacos La Korita is just that sort of spot. I had heard of it from Doc Brown, of Doc Brown's BBQ food truck fame. He spent much time describing just how amazing this little taco truck in front of the Dollar General super market was. After working a wedding, I just happened to drive by the place and decided to stop in. There's a hand written menu outside of the little trailer, a couple of chairs, and an umbrella to keep you shaded while you order and eat. I decided on 3 tacos, al pastor, carne asada, and lengua (sup, I like tongue). At $2 a pop the price is right! They had a couple of other items as well, including a spiced pork in flour tortilla and something that sounded a lot like a mexican huarache, but was different and called a tlacoyo.... which I'm not even going to try to pronounce. My order was taken by what I assume was the mother of the family that operates this lovely little spot. My tacos were up super quickly. I can't say for certain... but I think that the tortillas are hand made. Either there, or somewhere close by. They were ultra fresh, and had that slightly imperfect edge. The tacos were served with roasted onion, grilled napoles, and their red and green hot sauces, which both packed a spicy punch. The carne asada was pretty good. Not the explosion of awesome I was hoping for... I was anxious. I wanted this place to kick ass. Looking at my other two tacos I was hesitant to try them. What if they weren't as good as I was hoping for? I bit into the lengua taco and my fears subsided. This is fucking great I thought to myself. Thank goodness. I consumed it with voracious zeal. The Al Pastor was next and the best of the three. The PERFECT balance of spices, carmelization, and just a hint of pineapple. Wow. For 6 bucks this might be the best deal in town. The hours are a bit whacky, I was told they're open Thursday - Sunday from 6 til 11. I'm going to make it a point to be a regular here.

(There is a big pothole at the bottom of one side of the driveway!) The food was very good. We tried the nachos, a burrito, and steak, chicken and tongue tacos. All very tasty on corn tortillas. The hot sauce has some kick! The price for all was about $25. Give it a try.

I opted for a corn tortilla, but it quickly fell apart, so I'd recommend a flour tortilla for that one. The Support Group was good too - it was on the sweeter side because of the plantain tortilla, which was unique and fun to try, but I definitely have more a a savory tooth, so I would, again, opt for a flour tortilla in the future. All breakfast tacos come with a salsa, which I chose when I ordered, but they forgot to give it to me, and I didn't realize until I finished my meal so I didn't get to try it. The portions are pretty big - I could have gotten away with eating one taco rather than two since they were so filling and I wasn't too hungry. The service was quick and freshly-made. There were plenty of seats available on a Sunday morning. There is limited parking right in front of the building. They had some coffee, which I opted not to purchase, but good to know if you need a morning pick-me-up. My favorite part about the restaurant was all of the beautiful paintings on the wall with a hidden orange goat painted somewhere into them. I spent some time before I left looking for them in each picture, like Where's Waldo!

Both were 10/10. The country white bread was buttered and perfectly toasted, crunched on every single bite and not soggy from any of the ingredients, and all the cheeses were soooo ooey gooey, melted and hot, and had big flavors. Would eat here every day if I could!!! Amazing food truck, 10/10 recommend.

We attended Sycamore Brewery's Friday "Food Truck" event (where a grand total of 7-ish food trucks were present plus a Kona Ice truck; huge lines a the majority of the trucks!) After waiting in line upwards of an hour to place our order, we finally put in two items: a beef burrito and taco salad ($8 a piece). It is convenient that they take your phone number and text you when your food is ready. However, after waiting another thirty minutes and still not getting a text message (order was placed at 8:33p via e-mailed receipt, I went to check on the order at 9:03pm) I was concerned. After inquiring, I found out it was going to be at least another fifteen minutes, they were slammed, you could tell, but the owner did offer me a refund. I had to accept at this point and he gave me cash back for a couple dollars over the amount I paid. Obviously Ron's Taco Shop is doing something right, because they certainly have the lines to show it, but I will be unlikely to try them in the future per the experience. Also, be warned as you wait in line, your lungs might suffer from exhaust fumes, they've got to re-route their exhaust pipe to not kick out right where you order!
