There also wasn't nearly enough cheese. The braised beef inside was very very tender and tasty, though. The Pollo Sinaloense - a thinly pounded and breaded chicken breast topped with chorizo and cheese - was unique and delicious, and nicely balanced with a little salad and Spanish rice. This weekend I took my best friend and it was perfect, even in the middle of winter. The deck is still open with plenty of space heaters and even heated seat cushions. We actually got so warm we had to peel off layers, which feels like a small miracle in Maine. The two of us love a marg & taco outing, and make a point to scope out the best of the best. We started with chips and salsa and some queso, which were the perfect kickoff. Then we ordered the street corn succotash, my absolute favorite. It's packed with flavor and topped with the most delicious, salty cotija cheese that pulls everything together. I crave that dish. We split the smoked brisket tacos and the smoked pork carnitas tacos, and both were outstanding. The meat was smoky and tender, the flavors were bold without being overdone, and every bite delivered. And the margaritas? Excellent and refreshing. Exactly what you want alongside that food. On top of all that, the staff is consistently wonderful. Arrived and they genuinely seemed confused about what a reservation was. Took 5 mins to be sat in an EMPTY restaurant. Then took 10 mins for the waitress to bring water and ask for drinks. In an EMPTY restaurant. We started strong by ordering three items. A blood orange margarita, a skinny margarita and table side guac. They were out of two. One of them was the guacamole. Let me repeat that slowly: A Mexican restaurant. Out. Of. Guacamole. That's like a steakhouse being out of beef or Starbucks being out of coffee. Now I know what you're thinking, must have been at the end of the night right? 5pm. They literally just opened. Undeterred (mistake), we continued with ordering the margaritas. What arrived can only be described as a lime-adjacent science experiment. They were so bad that we didn't even bother ordering food -- we asked for the check and left. When margaritas make you reconsider sobriety, it's time to go. To make it even better, the poor teenage waitress was apparently left alone to figure out how to make margaritas on the fly, as if this was her final exam on "Intro to Bartending: Trial by Fire." None of this was her fault -- she was doing her best while the restaurant actively sabotaged her.
