We had such a great experience at Taco Escobar! From the moment we sat down, our waiter Luís made the night unforgettable. He was hilarious, welcoming, and just genuinely fantastic at what he does. He kept joking that I must be Latina because I could say a few words, which turned into such a fun conversation. We ended up bonding over the fact that my fiancé and I are Greek, and he had actually studied the Greek language--such a random and awesome connection! On top of the amazing service, the food was absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Luís really elevated the whole experience, but the combination of his personality and the incredible food made this a place we'll definitely be coming back to. Highly recommend!

Taco Escobar is definitely one of my top taco spots, especially when paired with my favorite cocktail! It's usually busy, so there's often a bit of a wait, but this time we only waited under 20 minutes for a party of four, which was a pleasant surprise. Our server was fantastic and checked in on us frequently. I had the shrimp tacos with the puffy shells which was delicious, and the crunchy ones were just as good! You have to try their infused tequila; they offer such a cool variety of flavors. I always go for a Paloma, and it's always a 10/10.

Super tasty drinks. These actually saved us from our hangover after a very wild last night of vacation in downtown Portland. Lots of margarita flavor options. The bartender was great! Super cute vibe in here.

This was my third attempt to eat at Taco Escobarr. The first two times there was an hour plus wait and the second the kitchen was backed up by 40 minutes. We came in for lunch and got seated in a booth right away. I ordered the shrimp, fried avocado, and fish tacos. They came out very quickly! The tacos were filling, but for $5.50 a taco, I expected them to be a lot bigger. There is also an upcharge for the fish/shrimp.

consistently great mexican food! it's pretty much your traditional, run-of-the-mill mexican food but with a really fun atmosphere and they're open late. the place is small and often packed, but usually no longer than a 30 minute wait in my experience. they don't take reservations. they don't tend to take risks with their menu, but all their dishes are great. the avocado fries are BOMB. all-in-all, great place!

We decided on Taco Escobarr for pre-concert eats because of their vegetarian options. It was pretty slammed for a Wednesday night, but probably because of the nearby concert at The State Theater. Our wait for a table wasn't too bad, however. We got a table in the front window, which made for good people watching, but the AC was blowing really hard on us. My companions enjoyed their meals, except to say that the Al Pastor was closer to carnitas. My lengua puffy taco was solid, but I agreed on the Al Pastor. Our server was nice, but it seemed like she had about half of the tables in the restaurant, including those on the sidewalk patio, so getting her attention was tough at times. The decor is funky classic Mexican restaurant with Lucha Libre and skeletons graphics. I was hoping for better, since they have a great reputation, but it wasn't a good as I hoped. Give them a shot and let me know if I just hit them on bad day.

Luis was great!! The food, music and vibes were great. We didn't wait too long for anything even though it was busy. Service was great :)

It is a quaint and small and unsassuming place that packs 'em in tight but the great thing is that I was able to book a reservation ahead of time for a Friday night and we were able to be seated right away and our adventure begins. There were many vegan options for my better half and she also got a non alcoholic margarita that she enjoyed tremendously. I got three different styles of tacos and appetizers and they were divine ... (Pork Belly, Carnitas, Fried fish taco) The ambiance and the energy of the place was fantastic with the server being very good at what he did. We will definitely be back!

They take reservations (including for brunch on the weekends) and it's super easy to do online. How many places in this city are doing this? The answer is: still not many. 2. Their menu is clearly labeled with what's vegan and vegetarian. No guessing here, and the staff has always been quick to double-check with the kitchen if there are any questions or concerns. Segue... 3. The chips and guacamole for currently $10 are the same quantity of (and I mean this lovingly) overly salted, house fried - sometimes too fried - chips and a tiny scoop of good guac as most places in town that are CHARGING YOU MORE. Segue... 4. There are places in town now charging $8 to $10 for ONE TACO. And they're sometimes quite small. The tacos here average between $4.75 and $6.50 for creative, flavorful, interesting, filling options (also you can get them on either flour or corn, no upcharge). The menu changes from time to time, and I wish they'd bring back the fried yuca taco, but the solid vegan solid options right now are Adobo Sweet Potato, Fried Plantain, and Crispy Tofu. Segue... 5. The taquitos, brussel sprouts, and cheesecake are all vegan. Segue... 6. The brunch (10am to 2pm, Saturday and Sundays) options for vegans are probably the most impressive in town: tofu or chorizo or fresh avocado tacos, huevos rancheros, churro french toast, avocado toast, chimichangas. 7. The Mexican cold brew might change your life (... or at least make you really happy when you're playing hooky from work and having an 11am drink). Switch the tequila for house whisky, skip the vespertino, ask for a side of oat milk... no changes to the price when doing this, by the way, because they're THAT kind of place that isn't trying to punish you constantly with extra fees. 8. The staff is so accommodating, they're thoughtful, they check-in just the right amount. Sure, I've had a few bad experiences here, but overall... sit at the bar, make a friend, and just ask/just talk to them if you're missing something/need something etc. 9. The atmosphere here is Portland right before it became too cool (IYKYK). It's casual and relaxed, it can be intimate and loud when it's busy, it feels quite trendy yet still approachable when they've got their newly updated outside area set-up. 10. It's off peninsula which also changes the demographic and vibe entiiiiiiiiiirely. For the good. 6/5 no notes.

This weekend I took my best friend and it was perfect, even in the middle of winter. The deck is still open with plenty of space heaters and even heated seat cushions. We actually got so warm we had to peel off layers, which feels like a small miracle in Maine. The two of us love a marg & taco outing, and make a point to scope out the best of the best. We started with chips and salsa and some queso, which were the perfect kickoff. Then we ordered the street corn succotash, my absolute favorite. It's packed with flavor and topped with the most delicious, salty cotija cheese that pulls everything together. I crave that dish. We split the smoked brisket tacos and the smoked pork carnitas tacos, and both were outstanding. The meat was smoky and tender, the flavors were bold without being overdone, and every bite delivered. And the margaritas? Excellent and refreshing. Exactly what you want alongside that food. On top of all that, the staff is consistently wonderful. Every single time we've gone, our waitstaff has been charming, attentive, and genuinely helpful with recommendations. They strike that perfect balance of checking in without hovering, and they make you feel welcome from start to finish. Terlingua never disappoints. Great atmosphere, incredible food, thoughtful touches that keep you cozy even in winter, and a team that clearly cares about the experience.

I could've done without the lettuce in the burrito, and I did remove 1 star because it was falling apart when I got home and I ended up having to use my own (store bought) tortilla, which was disappointing after paying $17 for a burrito. Even so, everything was super flavorful! Tacos would be my recommendation to others. I also very much appreciate that the food is all authentic and handmade, they had picnic tables in the shade for seating, and the chef was welcoming and happy to explain the menu options.

I have heard great things and was really hoping they had pupusas available on the truck... but no such luck. Only tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. That's ok because the very kind gentleman on the truck made the 3 Amigos sound really good! It's one pork, one beef, and one chicken taco on homemade tortillas with the standard fixings - onion, cilantro, guac, and salsa. I will say that the homemade tortillas are very good, though different than most I've had. They are soft to the point of almost being creamy? Very very rich, reminded me of the base of a sope. The meats were absolutely delicious and grilled and full of flavor. I loved both the pork and the beef, though the fattiness could've used an extra lime or two. I took one bite of the chicken taco and got a couple little bones, so I didn't eat the rest of that one. The sauces were good, though I was told one of the sauces was VERY VERY hot and I didn't detect a lot of spiciness from it. I think overall, I could've used double garnish, double lime, and a lot of extra heat. There are no prices on the board so I was thinking three tacos would come to like $10 - $12. Turns out they are $20 before tax, holy moley. I admit that my expectations were high before I even took a bite, because that price point is a little crazy. I am super curious about the brick and mortar because I'm sure it's a different experience with the food truck. These tacos were definitely tasty enough to do some more research!
