Packed with flavor and great quality ingredients. The vibe on the inside is fun and beautiful, the exact Tex-mex style. Maybe the best brunch spot in Portland and tucked away in the west end. Some days I've had to wait an hour and others I've been able to get right in. The birria grilled cheese is incredible and the best is the Terlingua brisket hash. Never had a bad taco from here and never had a bad cocktail either. I'm a huge fan of Terlingua and being able to get a similar style food on the opposite side of town , with a lot of the same ingredients, and before lunch is amazing. Always the nicest staff working as well. I will continue to recommend this spot to tourists and friends.

Rich flavors - beautiful sauces & seasonings - super fresh - plentiful. Charming room & back patio - chic & modern - bigger than it looks from the street. GOOD Hot Coffee kept coming. We had leftovers for our Monday breakfast AND we ordered a stunning special Tomato Salad for dinner tonight. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - SOLID 10 of 10
This was our first time here and parking was a total pain in the ass. When we walked in we were welcomed immediately The service was outstanding. Everyone seemed happy to be there. The warden and I sat at the bar and ordered a latte, modelo and guacamole to start. The guacamole was delicious, but very small in portion. We then had the birria grilled cheese with consommé. This was outstanding and should be a go to for rainy day in Portland. We ended with the short stack. This was different to say the least. The wife didn't like it at all after one bite.I didn't love it, but it's not your typical pancake. It's kinda overthinking what a pancake should be, the syrup was very thin and didn't complement the cake very well. We both ordered an additional drink and after it all our bill was 101.52 for two beers, two lattes, gauc, two birria's, and pancakes.
Amazing! Lots of local parking, very centrally located in the west end. The vibe in here is southwestern modern with very cool conversation pit style booths. The food was seasoned, colorful, and creative. This is a great place to bring someone if you wanna show off. The horchata and chocolate tres leches were amazing. They had some very interesting cocktails. My date ordered a cocktail with some sort of bacon reduction and he adored it. We got shrimp ceviche for the table and lox tostada. All was amazing. Our waiter was a hoot, you could tell he really adored the restaurant and menu and he was so kind to us. Round of applause for Ocotillo.
Great space away from the bustle of Congress or the OP, but still in the MF house. The food was absolutely delicious. We had chilis relenjos, brisket tacos, the corn dip, and a tasty bevy with coconut and pineapple! I LOVED it! The churros were a perfect ending!
My family and I visited Ocotillo for brunch in the West End of Portland and making a reservation was definitely the right call. The restaurant is very popular and fills up quickly. There were four of us, and I ordered their take on huevos rancheros. The flavors really stood out, especially with the two different hot sauces that gave the dish just the right amount of heat and depth. It was one of the highlights of my meal. The brunch cocktails were also excellent and complemented the food well. Prices are in line with what you would expect at a higher end brunch spot, particularly one that is so well known in the area. The service was attentive and friendly throughout, and the overall atmosphere has a modern but inviting feel that makes it a fun place to linger. Our server give us recommendations for other local hotspots to dine at. Ocotillo is a great choice if you are looking for a lively brunch experience in Portland. I would absolutely come back and try more of the menu.
Best brunch place in town! The food is such flavorful and it's a beautiful place to stop by. Make sure you're prepared to wait up to 30 mins in a cozy crowded room for Sunday brunch. We go there often. Love love love their brisket with salsa!!
The interior is so cute and beautifully decorated! They have a large drink menu. The food was good, but different from what I was imagining. The enchiladas were not your traditional enchiladas. Service at the beginning was a little slow, but was great as the night went on. I wish they had their churros but they were sold out!
You might drive by and miss this off the beaten path oasis. Formerly a store years ago, changed to a Mexican flare brunch spot and recently opened for dinner experience is not a place to miss. While a small place and menu it packs a powerful punch of flavor. Staff well versed in their offerings in food and libations. They have a small allergy menu which has options and warmings of cross contamination. We had the taco dinner and the protein offerings were flavorful. Tequila/mezcal fans unite! They have local brews and specialty cocktails. Parking can be challenging as this is in a neighborhood, but it is worth it. We made reservations and were seated right away. The inside makes you feel like you are at a Mexican siesta, however lighting is a bit dark which you can tell in Our photos.
Friends invited us to Ocotillo and it did not disappoint!! This place is beautiful and has a very comfortable air about it. I found out up until a few months ago it was primarily a brunch place. Well they do dinner with ease. Come early to find parking. This area of Dartmouth is primarily residential so street parking is challenging, but worth it. All staff are friendly, full of information and prompt. Now food & drink!! Mezcal and tequila prominent. Plenty of other options as well. Check out the food pictures, they taste as good as it looks. I had the bites Grilled Cheddar and brisket on sour dough. It was delicious and the perfect serving. This place is on my return to list!
I haven't eaten nearly enough brunch in Portland but Ocotillo was a great pick! I went in on a Sunday morning and was seated at the bar right away. If you have a larger group it seems reservations are good to have. The bartenders Izzy and Jenny were both amazing! Super helpful and checked in frequently. I got the citrus-ade which is lemon, lime, and grapefruit lemonade and was perfectly refreshing. I tried the cowboy curds and gravy and also got a side of cornbread. They had a bunch of specials that also sounded delicious! My meal was so good and a good sized portion. It reheated well the next day for lunch! The brisket was juicy and tender and paired really nicely with crispy potatoes and cheese curds. Loved the buttery and moist cornbread as well with the sweet honey butter - exactly what I was craving! I would love to come back here and try lunch and dinner as well.
My daughter and I went here for lunch yesterday and sat out on the back patio which is a nice, quiet space. We started with iced lattes that were delicious. I had the huevos rancheros and my daughter had the haddock eggs Benedict. We started with chips and guacamole, the food was delicious. I had been wanting to go for sometime and glad I finally made it!
Such a cute spot- the decor is outstanding and really feels like you're transported somewhere other than Maine. Great cocktail list, we ordered the bloody mary, the desert dust, and the horchata colada. The desert dust had chile and date infused mezcal which they make themselves and it's fantastic. Actually everything they make is all on site which was so cool. We ordered the pork shoulder and brisket tacos, the brisket hash, the masa pancakes, the maple griddled cornbread, and the horchata tiramisu. Everything was incredible. You can tell they are smoking the meats on site they were so flavorful and tender. The poached eggs on the hash were absolutely perfect. The mass pancakes were a pleasant surprise especially with the pineapple maple syrup! The maple grilled cornbread was outstanding and simple in the best way. The horchata tiramisu was absolute perfection. Not a bad bite was had for our brunch. The servers were also incredibly helpful and answered every question we had to help us have a wonderful meal. Definitely a must go brunch spot in Portland!

Exceptional brunch in Portland! From the vibe to the service and the food and drinks, this place ticks all the boxes! They take reservations, even for breakfast/brunch, and I highly recommend making one, especially if you'd like a spot on their very-cool covered patio. Even if you don't, and even if you have to wait a few mins for a seat, don't be deterred - it's so worth it! The feeling inside feels like a celebration of culture, like a Mexican restaurant got a glow-up. Big comfy booths invite you to sit and stay a while. The menu is small but thoughtful and the drinks, from the horchata and cold brew to the cocktails, are nicely curated and feature delightfully unique and seasonal ingredients. My mango coffee cocktail was nothing I would've ordered on my own but I took a recommendation from the bartender and was blown away by how well the flavors played together. Anything you get to eat will be exceptional. If I'm not mistaken, this is the sister restaurant to Teralingua. If you know anything about their brisket, you have a slight idea of what delights await you! Most recently, we tried the brisket grilled cheese birria-style, with consomme on the side for dipping. Let me tell you, my eyes rolled so far back in my head, I lost a contact lens. The service, even at the bar, was wonderful - Jenny was friendly but chill, helpful, quick. A sheer delight during times when great service seems like a relic of the past. We always leave stuffed with a smile on our face. read more

OOOOOh this was good! Before the Terlingua owners opened Ocotillo, this West End space had many lives - in the ten years I've lived down the street, I've seen it be Little Giant, The Danforth.. nothing seems to stick. Ocotillo seems to be the perfect fit. I came here yesterday for brunch as a party of 4 - a Sunday around 12:30. They had a table for us, and were super friendly - there is more space than I remember! It has to be said - The Danforth had a very snooty, rich-people-only vibe with $18 cocktails that I simply did not enjoy. Didn't fit in our neighborhood, and I don't know a single person that frequented it. It was dark, unwelcoming, and cold. That being said, I was hesitant to go back. Ocotillo is the total OPPOSITE. Welcoming energy, absolutely amazing and personable staff, and delicious food! Bright and airy, such fun decor, really comfy seating, and an open space. I LOVE when places make you feel welcome and not like you're a burden. Walking in here was such a breath of fresh air. I got the enchiladas - which are vegetarian, filled with cheese and potato. I also got a side of hollandaise sauce, side of fruit, and side of cornbread. We got churros for the table too with caramel sauce. All. WAs. INCREDIBLE. Bf got brisket hash, other dining partners got the cowpoke plate and mushroom taco. Rave reviews all around. Major hits were the cornbread - fried and crispy served with fluffy butter - and the churros disappeared within two minutes. Absolutely delicious. They refill water quickly - they are on TOP of service - and they are happy to split the bill for the table. Delicious iced tea, and I can't wait to try a cocktail next time. The only thing I'm bummed about is I didn't get to see the bathroom - which I usually have to see before I do 5-star reviews, LOL. When this was the Danforth the bathroom felt like The Chokey from Matilda. When I return I'll report back. Local or tourist, vegetarian, vegan, GF, or meat-eater - everyone will find something to eat and enjoy here while feeling like an old friend at a place that's been in the neighborhood forever. Wow what a delicious lunch me and my friend had here! she got the hash and i got the benedict and all i can say is that is about the best benedict i have ever had in my life, the biscuits were so incredible and the pork was seasoned fabulously. katie was an amazing server, and all the staff seemed extremely happy to make our dining experience the best it could possibly be. if i could give this place 10 stars i would. read more

Love the vibe of the restaurant, bright, feels like summer even though it's super cold outside, and cozy. Make sure to make reservation if you can on the weekend especially during brunch time. I have no issue because I'm alone and get bar seat. Price is decent for Portland price and that's not easy to find these days, mid size selection for food, there's always something for everybody. I asked the bartender Jenny and she told me get the brisket hash. I made sure checked on their IG to see how does it look like. Saw a picture that I don't know what that is, asked the server and he said "brisket hash". I'm sold ! Great flavor for the brisket hash, it taste delicious especially if your add their homemade hot sauce ! Please ask for that, it's really good pairing. For drink I ordered bloody maria and I really enjoyed it, especially for someone who rarely order bloody mary(a) drink. Everything was very good, every dish was tasty and well prepared. The food alone earns this place a solid 5 stars. While the waitress wasn't as warm, I understand that we're all human and allowed to have off days. Overall, it was still a great experience, and I'd absolutely recommend it. read more

The brisket hash was a 5/5! The poached eggs with aioli is a perfect addition and the brisket is very tender. The green onions add freshness and the only thing I would change would be to add more freshness. The horchata was the perfect drink for brunch but I would've liked less ice and little more drink. As the ice melted, it tasted a little watered down which was because I think there was too much ice. Nonetheless, I still think it's delicious and would order it again. The ambiance and decor are beautiful. And the staff are pleasant and explain the menu well. read more

Cute space - the pink tones give it such an upbeat feel. Came for brunch on a Saturday and it was pretty busy when we got there. We had a reservation but had to wait a bit. We sat in the dining room part of the restaurant. The hash was really good - it wasn't heavy at all, which is what I was worried about. My husband got lox and avocado and he loved it. Drinks we enjoyed were the horchata colada and cafe de olla. I would recommend making a reservation if you can because it really is happening during weekend brunch and you might wait a bit if you don't have one. read more
Yes. Yes. Yes! Portland has desperately needed more brunch places, and Ocotillo has blown it out of the park with its brunch/breakfast offerings. I'm so glad I dined here right after they opened because I feel they're about to be one of Portland's hottest breakfast spots. We just don't have anything else like it in town. Southwestern influence in Portland? Say less. When I stepped inside, I felt like I was in a terracotta-hued daydream with New Mexico vibes. The space at Ocotillo was simply a feast for my eyes -- you could tell that every element was meticulously designed for the space. The velvety orange booths, the plants, and the art wall all work perfectly together without it feeling like they're trying too hard. It felt authentic. The menu was impressive and extensive. They offer everything: soups, salads, tacos, plates, and sandwiches. I want to go back and try it all. I ordered the Terlingua Brisket Hash, and holy moly, talk about a tasty brunch plate. The poached eggs and brisket were perfectly cooked. I topped it with their homemade hot sauce and just couldn't get enough of it. Also, their coffee was phenomenal. The service was also excellent, but I think my favorite thing about Ocotillo is that they made their menu accessible. I checked, and all plates are under $20. Given the location, quality, and experience, this is a great deal in Portland, and I hope they remain affordable through the years. My family and I went here yesterday morning brunch and were pleasantly surprised. The ambiance was so unique and welcoming. Gave off a unique vibe of a Mexican bbq diner from the past. Not a lot of places like it that I have ever seen. Service was nice too with multiple Individuals checking in on us throughout the meal. All of them loved their food. Me personally, I got the lasso which was one of their coffee based cocktails. It was pretty good and definitely pretty strong but did its job. For food we started with the churros, definitely some of the better ones around and the selections of dipping sauces for them was great. For my main I got the short stack with caramelized pineapple syrup and the huevos ocotillo. I couldn't stop eating and the meal caught me by surprise. The flavors, presentation, and the clear effort that was put in to the food was definitely noticeable. One of the best brunches I have experienced recently. I would 100% recommend this spot. The inside will make you feel cozy and the food will leave you satisfied guaranteed. Especially if you have one of their cocktails while you're at it. Brisket for breakfast or brunch? What else do I even need to say besides that? The best part though is everything else is such a big positive as well. Inviting and welcoming space with a small bar, some tables and lots of cozy booth seating tables. It had a warm and inviting vibe for sure! My fiancée and I met a friend for brunch on Sunday and didn't have a reservation but were willing to wait half an hour for a table to give it a shot. Thankfully some bar seats opened up after a quick 5 minutes. The staff were friendly and attentive despite seeming like their work was nonstop busy. The mimosa and tequila sunrise were both very tasty and well made. They had plenty of other cocktails and beers available and a fair offering of non alcoholic options too. As soon as I heard about this place opening and knowing it would be a sister restaurant to Terlingua I knew their food would be top notch especially their meat offerings. Which their brisket hash was phenomenal and I would instantly order it again next time we go. They also offered different breakfast tacos, salads, burgers/sandwiches, etc so everyone should find something. The meal was ended off the perfect way with complimentary churros from a manager/possible owner. After trying them I would get an order anytime we stop in here. It already seems to be a popular spot but I can only see it getting busier and busier once the word gets out more! Definitely worth adding to your must visit list! read more

I got my sister a gift card to here for Christmas. We were really excited to try it because we loved Terlingua. We checked online to see what the weekend menu was and it was confusing. Sundays had brunch listed from 8-9, Happy Hour 3-5 and dinner 5-9. We assumed that meant brunch was served all day, not just for an hour, but we called ahead to clarify. The woman who answered the phone said brunch would be served until 3pm. Okay? My sister had her eye on the pulled pork sandwich that was listed on the brunch menu. We arrived at 2:30 and were told there would be a few minutes wait and if we wanted to be sure to order off the brunch menu, we should take the open seats outside. It was a cold rainy day, but there were space heaters installed so we decided to go along with it. Apparently the 3-5pm happy hour means they only serve chips & salsa, sliders of the day, and poutine. It wasn't a great feeling to have to rush to beat the clock, but we were up for the challenge seeing how we browsed the menu ahead of time. However, my sister's turn comes around and the waiter lets her know the pulled pork sandwich is only on the weekday brunch menu. Low and behold, she looks down and it is quite literally the only thing not listed on the menu in front of us that was shown online. Why? She was really disappointed seeing how we came for brunch solely because that's what menu that was listed on, but went ahead and got two tacos. Were they worth $8 a whack? Not really. I got the birria grilled cheese, which was by far the best meal of that day. My son got the pancakes (kinda hard to mess up). My daughter got the enchiladas suizas. This fell really flat. It had no dimension to it's texture or taste. The potatoes should have been crisped to add some crunch because the enchilada itself was just kinda of mushy. The "creamy" tomatillo sauce was foamy, flavorless, and there was way too much of it. The dish was underwhelming to say the least. Ending with churros for dessert was a good decision. Definitely give those a shot. The confusing menu hours, missing dish, outdoor seating and less than satisfying enchilada dish did not leave us with the experience we were expecting after reading so many wonderful reviews.
