This place & their staff are the best! I accidentally filled an entire drink all over my table. The wait staff were so quick to come help me clean up my mess and within a minute they had replaced my drink. I expected to pay for both, but when my bill came only one drink was on there. They absolutely didn't have to comp my drink that I made a mess of, but they did. That's so kind! If you're looking for a place with great food, great vibes, and great drinks... look no further. Haven't been there in years since there are other good Mexican options in the area, but decided to go there since we were in downtown Westbrook anyway. Will not be back. Brought my elderly mother and her sister for lunch. Waitress had a hard time answering basic questions and I had to go look for her to ask for water after our drinks were empty for a while and also to ask where our food was since it had been 40 minutes. My mother's arm was in a sling so she needed something easy to eat. I ordered the burrito bowl with ground beef. When we finally got our food they gave her steak instead. I mentioned it to the waitress and she shrugged her shoulders. I asked her if they could remake it or if it would take a long time and again she shrugged her shoulders and kind of indicated it would take a while. Maybe she wasn't fluent in English? In any case, if a mistake is made then it should be corrected or something should be offered to rectify it. Neither happened. My mother ended up not liking the dish too and my chicken burrito bowl wasn't much better. Very little flavor. Again, won't be back. read more

The portions were pretty massive and everything looked great, I was actually really impressed with how fast we got it - and then I started eating the carnitas. I'd say the majority of my protein was tendon, gristle and connective tissue - and a few large chunks of fat. I had a few edible tacos with what I could salvage, but was left with smaller pieces of hardened chopped up tendon scattered throughout that I couldn't avoid or pick out (because it was in everything, and so much of it) and ruined it completely for me. The beans and rice were good. Only reason they get a 2 star, maybe someone really just wants the beans and rice. I don't know! Ordered delivery, so I can't speculate on the location or service at this time - I haven't gone in here to eat or have drinks in a long time, but unfortunately the things that I didn't like outweigh ever wanting to go back. read more

Good, not great. I usually get the Queso Fundido, which comes with tortillas and pico de gallo. It's yummy but pretty greasy and heavy, so don't make any plans for after dinner. I find some of the dishes to be fairly bland (especially the chicken), and the servers aren't always the fastest or most attentive. We've waited quite awhile for drink refills, something small but that detracts from the experience. I do appreciate that they're always open for to-go orders and the seating inside doesn't place people right on top of each other. Fajita Grill is somewhere I don't go often, but it's a good fallback option once in a while. read more

Ok I will begin this review by stating the fact that one of my favorite cuisines is mexican fare and I am pretty picky when it comes to the staples of mexican food. We celebrated in Cinco De Mayo and placed an order to be picked up for a couple of co-workers. I ordered three tacos and according to the menu I could have my choice of mixing three different types of tacos but came to find out on the order that they are only allowing one style for all three (more than likely because of the Cinco de Mayo crowd and rush. This was disappointing but I went with the Carne Asada soft tacos and a side of chips and queso dip. The bag of chips that they gave for the size of queso was minimal at best. Not enough chips to go around for anything and ended up throwing away from of the queso dip (which might be good for the waistline anyway) The service is usually pretty good here but they are feeling the (rush expectation) pressure of the holiday so the experience was not as good of one as I would expect. The overall feel in the restaurant is pretty crowded yet the layout is bigger than expected. There is a bar with multiple TVs so could definitely see coming here after work to watch the game. Will come back but might try out a few other Mexican establishments out there first then decide ... I also rate most places by the quality of their salsa and I didn't really care for this salsa because of how watery it was. read more

If you're looking for cheap eats with decent sized portions, this is the place for you. The margaritas are huge and reasonably priced. The staff is nice and everything comes out quickly. It seems like a fun atmosphere and definitely a place to meet friends for a casual night out. I ordered a combo plate that came with a taco, quesadilla, and rice and beans for $10. My BF ordered a burrito with rice and beans and we paid about $50 with a few drinks. Not bad at all. Stopped in today for lunch, they have a lunch menu with pretty good deals. I ordered the chicken fajita lunch. One plate came with lettuce, guac, and sour cream (and 3 warm flour tortillas) and the other plate with a big pile of sauteed chicken and peppers, rice and beans. Plenty of food for $10. The space is large and cavernous with a lot of booth seating, which I like. On a random Saturday afternoon, it was not crowded at all, easy to get a table. Service was friendly and fast. read more

Went with friends during COVID for dinner. They tried to sit us at a booth like there was no pandemic. Directly between two other parties. No 6' space. No barriers. I said. No. They put us at the table furthest back. This was good. Fajitas were good. Large portion. The side plate of veggies and beans was a disgusting mess that I didn't eat. Two others got various enchiladas. One ate most of theirs. The other didn't like it so much. I didn't like their chicken so I couldn't trade. When we reheated the leftovers the next day though, it wasn't as bad. Go for the fajitas. Chips and salsa were overflowing and we each got our own salsa bowl which was appreciated. That gives them an extra star. Try to flag someone down to get a refill on your drink. Good luck. Waitress was kind, just not attentive. Maybe it was our location. Maybe it was that we were the table that asked not to sit next to others so we wouldn't get sick and die. Who knows. Either the place doesn't count, or people under 12 don't count towards the limit of 6 in a party. There were two groups that had more than 6 people if you count humans and not just those of drinking age. I'd go back after COVID but probably not until it's over. read more

Warning, warning warning single guys Guys don't take your dates here and less you want to get sabotaged....So I go on frequent dates with girls, because I am single male.I go to this place because it' has a Bar. It's close to my house and I love Mexican food. So I met up with this girl for a date on (5/12/23) we were sitting at the bar. The waitress was kind of not really available for us. as a rule of thumb, I only go out on dates for a quick drink to see if I vibe with a girl first before buying them dinner. So last Friday night when I was on my date I got up to use the restroom and came back and my dafe was acting awkward and I was kind of confused. Later She told me when I got up to use the restroom The bartender told her that she had seen me there with previous women basically trying to kill my chances with the person I had just met. Never in my life have I ever experienced such disrespectful unprofessionalism in the service industry. Guys stay away from this place I'll never spend my money bringing girls here again the female bartender will end up sticking a knife in your back while taking your money. This is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant in the entire world. The chips and salsa are on point, they have the best queso, and their black bean burritos are flavored with a certain je ne sais quoi that is both intangible and unparalleled. Options are limited in Westbrook Maine. With that being said, Fajita Grill isn't a terrible choice? I know that doesn't sound very enticing, however I have never been wowed going here. Went for lunch today and they have a special lunch menu. Lunch menu prices are great, about $7 dollars each. I ordered the fried chimichanga which came with refried beans and rice. However, the portion was very small and I would have needed about 2-3 of these plates to have been full, even after each a ton of the free chips and salsa. In fact, I continued to eat chips and salsa after I finished my meal, and I would have eaten more if it wasn't time to go back to work haha. I have come for dinner before a few weeks ago, and I believe that was more impressive. However I can't even remember what I ordered, so was it really? Haha. I do remember my boyfriend saying he wanted to stop at McDonalds on the way home. Overall it's your average American Mexican food with your typical bar drafts and Margaritas. The prices are good and the portions are small. Order a lot of food if you want to leave feeling full. read more

Food and customer service was awful. Got takeout and I was very disappointed. The menudo was not seasoned well and the tripe (though tender) didn't taste that fresh. The guacamole was bland and bitter. Mole sauce for the burrito tasted like the cheapest canned version you can buy. A person in my group has celiacs and the whole allergy was disregarded. No one in the kitchen was trained to make anything gluten free. She was told that no restaurant can truly make gluten free food, which is comical because I've worked in many restaurants and we could always make things gluten free. She was also told that she shouldn't be so dumb to go out to eat with an allergy like that. So I will definitely never eat there again. Or recommend the place to anyone. read more

Large venue. Owner seemed nice. Our waitress acted like an imbecile. She brought out a dip we ordered and asked us to ensure if it was cooked through because she thinks it's supposed to be a hot dish but she didn't know. That is a training issue for everyone in the restaurant. Food was decent. Not spectacular. That seems to be a similar review to others who have dined here. Rice was tasty but cold. It's borderline "dirty" and I can't tell if it's just because the interior is so tacky or if it really does need a good scrubbing. Probably won't visit again any time soon but if you want basic Mexican inspired food and you live in Westbrook you might satisfy your craving. read more

I had a Taco salad for the first time while I was on vacation and got hooked. I live very close to the Fajita Grill, and saw they had one on the menu so I figured I would get one there. I parked and went in the back door. The atmosphere was inviting and server was cheerful. I ordered my food to go, a regular Taco Salad, and it was ready within 10 minutes. Once I got it home I was prepared to dig in. What a disappointment! One paltry tomato slice on top, and ground beef that was so barely seasoned that I couldn't taste more than salt and pepper (In a Taco Salad?). I cracked open the dish of salsa I was given to see an abnormally red salsa. The salsa was obviously canned and much spicier than a standard restaurant salsa. I dumped some on just to give the Taco Salad some flavor. Quite possibly the most boring Mexican food I have ever eaten. Not sure I'd go back unless I was a drinker and for wings to see how good they are. At least the atmosphere was fun and the place was busy with diners and families. read more

The food well if you drink Before the good it's great. There is a good area for parking and it's a perfect spot for foot traffic. The interior is nice and cozy. I super love Fajita Grill, in no small part because it is in walking distance of my home. Why is this important? Well, they serve giant, fish-bowl style margaritas. That's why. Seriously. I made the decision to bid on an overpriced condo the first time I had one of these at lunch (we didn't get the place, thank goodness) - these things are sneaky and delicious. To top that off: $5 dinner specials for a massive amount of food (Sunday evenings, eat in only). Really decent food and drink deals each night of the week. Tasty, tasty tortilla chips with as much salsa as you can eat. If I worked in Westbrook I would be campaigning for this as #1 Happy Hour after work spot. As it is, I foresee many a salty, tequila-tinted weekend lunch here. If Fajita Grill starts serving breakfast burritos on the weekends it's all over for me. read more

You have to appreciate Fajita Grill for what it is: Cheap, "Americanized Mexican food", giant sour-mix-made margaritas, and tortillas, beans, meat, and american cheese thrown together in different ways to make one giant, confusing menu and mediocre food. Yes, I did say American cheese- I even asked the waitress to verify. I live in Westbrook and find myself coming to Fajita grill when I want something quick, easy and cheap. I don't have high expectations of the food, and wouldn't come here for a fancy night out. If you want some free, decent salsa and chips, and a giant margarita to drown your sorrows- this is the place! Service is also very good and the staff is super friendly. Last time we ordered the vegetarian nachos which were literally just chips with tons of refried beans and cheese. No peppers, guac, tomatoes, etc... Maybe there is some other nacho dish like that on the menu, but their menu is large and confusing and I'm not sure what is really a vegetarian dish. I also have a suspicion their refried beans have lard in them- making them not-actually-vegetarian, but again, its not the type of place were I would expect anything to be home made. I bet you these beans come from a can. The enchiladas were pretty much exactly like the nachos, except substitute 2 large soft tortillas for the multiple nacho chips and cover it in a red sauce that also tastes canned. The rice that it came with was from a box with freeze-dried peas. Sometimes you just want some cheap, Mexican food you could make yourself in a microwave, but you're too lazy and want to take advantage of some beer pitcher specials- then head on over to Fajita Grill! read more

The service is worth five stars, the margarita four and the tacos a solid three. I wish I could rate them separately. For a buck each we chose to get a total of eight tacos, a total of $8, (margaritas were $10 each). It was a quick, easy snack. I can't really say anything regarding the rest of the menu as we merely took advantage of a cheap deal at the last minute. We were not expecting premier cuisine for the price. It was edible and fulfilled a need. Wait staff can provide diners with subtle (or not so subtle) clues about how well the restaurant is run, whether they take pride in the food they are serving, and whether they are happy to be employed and doing the job they do. If your waiter is inattentive, sloppy, and blasé, chances are the food is going to have the same problem. The first time I ate at the Fajita Grill, I knew it was going to be a good meal, because of the wait staff. In fact, they are like poblanos in mole; the dining experience just wouldn't be the same without them. They are attentive, festive, and generally happy to serve you. And the food is usually just as good. On the front of the menu beneath their name, it says "just great food" and for the most part this statement is true. However, I have found that the quality of the food depends largely upon the time of day you visit and the staff working in the kitchen. Dinnertime service tends to be more enticing than the lunchtime fare. Also I do not recommend ordering take-out from this restaurant and the few times I tried this, the food was lifeless and cold. Do not let this sway you from eating in though, because when it's good, its really good! Menu pricing is very affordable with most meals ranging in price from $5.50 (lunch specials) up to $13.75 for shrimp fajitas. There is a $3.99 children's menu, which offers both Mexican and non-Mexican options. Portions are large and we almost always end up bringing leftovers home. And the food comes fast, usually within 15 minutes of ordering. Our menu favorites include the Mexican cheesesteak, Camarones Fajita Grill, and the chicken wings. Today I ordered the carnitas meal from the low-carb menu and also a side-order of refried beans. My lunch arrived steaming hot and the carnitas were wonderful, but not as flavorful as I had hoped. The menu said the carnitas had been seasoned in a special sauce made of Coke, tequila, beer, oranges, and garlic. Honestly I didn't taste any of those flavors in the pork but it didn't matter. The pork was perfectly cooked and arguably the best carnitas I've had in a long time. I would order this again in a heartbeat. I usually love the refried beans and they serve some of the best I've tasted. However, today the beans were chunky, not very flavorful and slightly cold. Apparently the guy who usually makes the beans had the day off. The atmosphere of the Fajita Grill is usually bustling, with the background noise of sporting events being broadcast over the multiple televisions and upbeat Mexican music playing over the speakers. Dining rooms seating is comfortable. There is also bar seating available. All-in-all the Fajita Grill is a very good value for your money and is a great place for happy hour or a family night. It's not entirely authentic Mexican food, but its close. I rate the dine-in experience 4/5 stars, but if you hit it right it has the potential to be 5/5 stars. We used to eat here regularly before Covid. We stopped in today for the first time in a couple of years, as we have a Mexican restaurant with great food that is closer to home. What a disappointment! We ordered the Queso Fundido, the cheese was barely melted, it solidified within minutes of being delivered to us. My hus band ordered the Street burrito with steak and it was Tacos Al pastor for me. They both had so much gristle that they were inedible. My husband managed to chew through two bite, but had to spit out the third. The first bite of my taco, I bit into sone connective tissue. I spit it out, I grabbed a piece of the pork in my taco and lifted it out of the tortilla and all of the diced meat came out in one clump attached by sinew. I called the waitress over to show her, she made a disgusted face, went and got our check and had taken both meals off. Two bad entrees in one visit. We will not be visiting again. read more

This is my favorite place to for lunch or dinner. The wait staff is very welcoming and the restaurant has a great atmosphere...along with unlimited chips and salsa! I always get either the fajita taco salad or the El Combo. The El Combo is AMAZING... and it's a ton of food(two full plates) so be very hungry. While you're here do yourself a favor and try their cheese stuffed pablanos, it's one of my favorites. I always go here with my friends because everyone can enjoy it! Great place to eat! read more

I like this place. It's a solidly in between off-the-street Mexican (Hella Good, Taco Trio) and American-Mexican (Casa Fiesta, Tortilla Flats). The free chips and salsa in the beginning is a huge plus; nothing fancy, but it's fresh and tasty. The service was fantastic. The food came within 5-10 minutes, and it was amazing. I noticed they consider many things the same. My friend and I got a combo platter. I got a Chulupa, my friend got a Tamale, and we got the same thing (neither a chulupa or tamale). But I did not mind; it was amazing. Also, we had the owner's nephew as our waiter. He was nice and courteous. I was very pleased with the service. The atmosphere was very nice, and the place was spacious. It is also hard to beat this prices, and the daily specials are a real steal! They also have many TVs for your sporting needs. Deliciously inconsistent. The front entrance is unassuming however the festive decor lends a hand to recognition from the street. The restaurant is large but the seating is fairly spaced. The decor is the standard brightly-colored cinco de mayo overstock decor that has become the norm for average Mexican restaurants. The food is fairly authentic and tasty, with the bright notes expected from Mexican cuisine. My critiques for this largely sleepy restaurant are focused on inconsistency - the spice level in dishes varies wildly depending on who is on the line. My other critique is for the service. Some days the servers are attentive and we want for nothing. Other days the staff can be seen standing around the register on their phones and joking around with each other reminiscent of a high school cafeteria. All things considered, if you're in Westbrook and need a good Chile Colorado and a Dos Equis, stroll on in and grab a bite. read more
