Tried Locally Sauced and honestly left pretty disappointed. The place is doing this Mexican BBQ…read morefusion thing, which sounded interesting, but the food just didn't land. Almost everything was incredibly sweet. The BBQ sauce tasted like straight liquid candy, and even the slaw was sweet. After a few bites the whole meal just felt kind of cloying. The prices also didn't match what you actually get. Around $30 for a brisket plate and it was basically four strips of brisket. Portions felt really small for the cost. On top of that, sauces cost extra, which felt a little ridiculous given the price point. Another thing that stood out: the "chips" were literally just Tostitos out of a bag. Not even house-made tortilla chips. For a place trying to have this unique, elevated vibe, that felt pretty lazy. I ordered a brisket burrito and it came out open-faced instead of wrapped like a burrito, which was confusing and messy to eat. Service itself was fine -- nothing bad to say there -- but the overall vibe of the place was kind of strange. It felt very "aggressively millennial," like it was trying really hard to be quirky and different instead of just focusing on making good food. Overall it just wasn't a great experience. Overly sweet food, small portions for the price, and a concept that feels like it's trying too hard. Mac and cheese was awful. Like straight up terrible. Like cracking an entire grinder worth of black pepper into it. The owner then insults me and is sarcastic without actually doing anything about my criticisms

Specializing in barbecue , a giant smoker sits next to the patio.. and we watched the chef split the wood to feed into the smoker. Though the selections are varied , the impressive barbecue menu includes brisket, pulled pork and a range of unique sauces for dipping. Also on the menu is a barbecued brisket burger served with a magical dressing, greens and tomato on a nifty soft bun. The wide selection of other entree options includes assorted tacos-- full to the brim with fish, or brisket -- served on homemade tortillas. And the generous salads with their dill ranch dressing are outstanding. Cocktails are excellent.. service is prompt, and cheerful, and prices are very fair.. We felt so welcome and can't wait to return.

I will start this off by saying that I never would expect this small establishment to serve some of…read morethe best tacos that we have been privy to in a long time! It is a quaint and small and unsassuming place that packs 'em in tight but the great thing is that I was able to book a reservation ahead of time for a Friday night and we were able to be seated right away and our adventure begins. There were many vegan options for my better half and she also got a non alcoholic margarita that she enjoyed tremendously. I got three different styles of tacos and appetizers and they were divine ... (Pork Belly, Carnitas, Fried fish taco) The ambiance and the energy of the place was fantastic with the server being very good at what he did. We will definitely be back!

Bird & Co is the best Mexican spot in Portland…read more I'm not saying it's the most authentic, I'm not saying it's perfect, I'm not saying their cocktail program is going to change your life, but... 1. They take reservations (including for brunch on the weekends) and it's super easy to do online. How many places in this city are doing this? The answer is: still not many. 2. Their menu is clearly labeled with what's vegan and vegetarian. No guessing here, and the staff has always been quick to double-check with the kitchen if there are any questions or concerns. Segue... 3. The chips and guacamole for currently $10 are the same quantity of (and I mean this lovingly) overly salted, house fried - sometimes too fried - chips and a tiny scoop of good guac as most places in town that are CHARGING YOU MORE. Segue... 4. There are places in town now charging $8 to $10 for ONE TACO. And they're sometimes quite small. The tacos here average between $4.75 and $6.50 for creative, flavorful, interesting, filling options (also you can get them on either flour or corn, no upcharge). The menu changes from time to time, and I wish they'd bring back the fried yuca taco, but the solid vegan solid options right now are Adobo Sweet Potato, Fried Plantain, and Crispy Tofu. Segue... 5. The taquitos, brussel sprouts, and cheesecake are all vegan. Segue... 6. The brunch (10am to 2pm, Saturday and Sundays) options for vegans are probably the most impressive in town: tofu or chorizo or fresh avocado tacos, huevos rancheros, churro french toast, avocado toast, chimichangas. 7. The Mexican cold brew might change your life (... or at least make you really happy when you're playing hooky from work and having an 11am drink). Switch the tequila for house whisky, skip the vespertino, ask for a side of oat milk... no changes to the price when doing this, by the way, because they're THAT kind of place that isn't trying to punish you constantly with extra fees. 8. The staff is so accommodating, they're thoughtful, they check-in just the right amount. Sure, I've had a few bad experiences here, but overall... sit at the bar, make a friend, and just ask/just talk to them if you're missing something/need something etc. 9. The atmosphere here is Portland right before it became too cool (IYKYK). It's casual and relaxed, it can be intimate and loud when it's busy, it feels quite trendy yet still approachable when they've got their newly updated outside area set-up. 10. It's off peninsula which also changes the demographic and vibe entiiiiiiiiiirely. For the good. 6/5 no notes.

We enjoyed our food and visit. Friendly service…read more Cozy dining area - not too large. Most people were getting take out. Also - A LOT of people were getting take out. We were there on a Tuesday around 11:45 and stayed until around 1:30/2pm - There was a steady stream of people getting take out and the dinning aread was 3/4 full the entire time. It seems to be a very popular place. The menu is pretty easy to read on the wall to your right as you walk in. it's pretty easy - you can choose a option from the wall and you can customize your burrito, quesadilla, nachos etc further when you get to the counter. I have never been to a chipotle, so I can't compare it. I love the fact that it's locally owned. For those that do not like cilantro - it's only in two things..one of the rice options and the pico...other than that you are safe. For those that love cilantro, you can ask for extra. I had the supreme nachos with pork and nacho cheese, jalapenos, black beans and lettuce....SOOOOOO GOOOD!!!! and very very filling. I liked the food so much that I ordered a to-go dish for my husband. He loved his food. he said the seasoning was light, but he enjoyed it. I look forward to coming back if I find myself in this area. it, Fast, Easy, and Delicious.

Of all the times coming here and eating their food both breakfast and lunch/dinner have had no complaints. Service has always been friendly and quick! They have some space indoors to dine but us like many others order then take it home to eat. They follow a similar model as places like Chipotle and Subway where you order and watch your food be made and can choose the toppings/fill ins. You can enjoy so many great options of burritos, tacos, bowls/salads, fries, quesadillas plus some other things. I have always enjoyed their burritos, maybe I need to expand to other things next time. My wife enjoys their bacon breakfast burrito and I enjoy their chorizo breakfast burrito. Lunch wise my wife enjoys their Burrito Americano while I think their Steak Bomb Burrito is great! They offer a good variety in fillings, spice levels, and flavors. Food always tastes fresh and high quality to us. Give their menu a look and check this spot out! Definitely worth your time!

This was my first time eating in restaurant but second time having the food…read more I started with the spinach beet salad which was good with a balsamic vinaigrette and Gorgonzola. My husband had chicken fingers, which just seemed like frozen & fried chicken tenders. Nothing special. My entree was a small spinach and wild mushroom specialty pizza. While the topping of caramelized mushrooms, spinach and Gorgonzola with a balsamic glaze drizzle was a good combo, the crust was very bland and did not have any flavor. Pizza is all about the crust, and I prefer a thick, chewy crust although I eat other types often. This crust was more like Greek style, but thinner. I would not go back for the pizza, which for a pizza place, is not ideal. I have had the wings in the past, which were good. The server was friendly. There is a bar area which was quite full of what appeared to be regulars.
