We highly enjoyed our Mexican dinners! The portions were massive! Service was great, friendly and fun. We had a lot of food come quickly to the table! Chips and salsa were plentiful. Considering we were in Maine on a short trip, we were excited to have found Mexican food. We hadn't had it in so long that this was a sight for sore eyes. It did not dissapoint. Strangely, we couldn't find it because it is housed in a diner. While not expected, there was plenty of room with an outdoor seating area as well. I love a Mexican restaurant that doesn't skimp on free chips and salsa - and this one did not disappoint. The waiter brought out a huge bowl of tasty salsa and a massive basket of chips. All of the entrées that we got, were really good portion sized, and the prices weren't bad. The food was tasty. I had the combo #3 with a chile rellano, enchilada, and taco. All of the items were stuffed with filling. The ground beef was tasty and not greasy at all. Veggies were fresh. I sampled the steak burrito, and guacamole/ both were very flavorful. Mexican done right!! We enjoyed the chicken Beef or Chicken Fajitas very much. Nice portion sizes, ample filling and toppings. The chips were perfect! Not bad, I would come back. Food was decent, prices fair. I'd rate closer to 3.5 stars as the food was above average. Two adults three kids. My sons fajita and my steak burrito were really good. Girls got tacos. My wife's combo meal she thought was OK. We drove past the initially as the sign was blocked by a tree, but it's in a 50s style diner all from the exterior and interior. A La Mexicana isn't for us (but it's in a great location for so many folks without dietary restrictions enjoying Sebago!). When we arrived on a sunny summer afternoon (like 5pm) there was no one else there; there were also no indicators they were open. We entered an empty restaurant until we said, "hello?!" really loudly and then an employee materialized from the back, hastily handed us menus and silverware, and told us to go sit outside wherever we wanted (a dusty parking lot set to the sounds of the heavily trafficked 302). We ordered: - two house margaritas with salt: these were enormous! Oddly, though, one of our drinks came in a glass fishbowl, and one of our drinks came in a plastic fishbowl. One of them had salt, and one of them didn't. Both were in dirty. Neither tasted "housemade". - guacamole: we tried to order the Special Guacamole, but our server said "No" without further explanation. When I asked why it wasn't available they said, "We don't have it." Now... when we walked into this restaurant we saw the guacamole cart (which I assume is the Special Guacamole since it would be housemade in the moment); it was full of fresh ingredients like avocados, freshly chopped tomatoes, cilantro, onion, etc. If the business a) doesn't offer this option outside or b) didn't have the staff to make it, I wish they had just said that instead of being so rude (and possibly lying). I asked, "So do you not have guacamole at all?" And he said, "We have a guacamole like dip." It was a very tiny bowl of pureed avocado. We left wondering what was actually made in-house. The margaritas seemed like mostly sour mix, the salsa seemed like tomatoes run through a blender, and the "guacamole dip" seemed like it came from those little plastic containers at the grocery store where you peel off the lid. There's also not a lot of vegetarian options: essentially it's all variations of refried beans, rice, and cheese (PSA: always check that your refried beans don't have lard; often they do). On the plus side: the server who took over halfway through our snacks and drinks was absolutely FANTASTIC, and the complimentary chips and salsa were appreciated and unexpected since so few places do that anymore! read more

We came here during our weekend visit to Maine. I instantly loved the unique setting of a retro diner for the restaurant. They even had a large outdoor area. Right away the service was impeccable. Our server, Jeremy, was attentive and made some great guacamole. He also informed us that their margaritas have real fruit, so I of course tried the passion fruit. Honestly one of the best margaritas I've had. And food did not disappoint! They have really great combo options, including vegetarian ones. Excellent staff, service, and food! I was there with a friend and forgot to take a picture when the meal came because it smelled so good. I had the Beef Fajita with no rice, beans, nor tortillas. This order did not phase the waitress, which was refreshing! The meal came on 2 10" square plates that were heaped - 1 with well seasoned steak, onions, peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms sauted, 1 with shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream. This is a restaurant right in our backyard of Windham and we finally decided to try it when making dinner at home just wasn't going to happen. The Jetstream diner look is a little retro and a little strange for Mexican, but it worked for me. We were seated quickly and the booths were super comfortable. The only problem we had with service was getting waited on initially. It took WAY too long. But once we got our chips/salsa and our drink order in, service for the rest of the meal was outstanding. The food is amazing! Seriously, if you try anything ask for the chicken soup, if you don't like spicy though make sure you ask for it without the peppers. The kitchen does a great job at getting the food out quickly but not so fast that the quality suffers. The wait staff is good at what they do and eager to please. The only reason they don't get a 5 star review is because after the fire that ruined the original building the replacement of a pre-fab silver diner is really out of place. read more
