We highly enjoyed our Mexican dinners! The portions were massive! Service was great, friendly and fun. We had a lot of food come quickly to the table! Chips and salsa were plentiful. Considering we were in Maine on a short trip, we were excited to have found Mexican food. We hadn't had it in so long that this was a sight for sore eyes. It did not dissapoint. It also seemed like many locals came here. Loved it, and we will be back since we are moving to the area! Thanks for the great dinner! The fried ice cream was also huge and we enjoyed sharing it.

Strangely, we couldn't find it because it is housed in a diner. While not expected, there was plenty of room with an outdoor seating area as well. I love a Mexican restaurant that doesn't skimp on free chips and salsa - and this one did not disappoint. The waiter brought out a huge bowl of tasty salsa and a massive basket of chips. All of the entrées that we got, were really good portion sized, and the prices weren't bad. The food was tasty. I had the combo #3 with a chile rellano, enchilada, and taco. All of the items were stuffed with filling. The ground beef was tasty and not greasy at all. Veggies were fresh. I sampled the steak burrito, and guacamole/ both were very flavorful. We would be back if in the area.

Can you say holy margaritas and portion size! Was hesitant to try Mexican in Maine but was not disappointed we have been back many times. Frequenting both locations. Service is consistent and quick. Love the dinner vibe at a la Mexican.

Would highly recommend this location if you have not already been. The food is very good, the service was fast and friendly, and the pricing is very reasonable for what you get. Have been here before and have always had a good experience, will be back again for sure hopefully soon!

Was craving for huevos rancheros at 7 pm and asked the friendly staff if they could still make it for me. Without hesitation, the order went through and I was happily eating my delicious meal a few minutes later! We'll definitely return whenever we visit ME again!

A La Mexicana isn't for us (but it's in a great location for so many folks without dietary restrictions enjoying Sebago!). When we arrived on a sunny summer afternoon (like 5pm) there was no one else there; there were also no indicators they were open. We entered an empty restaurant until we said, "hello?!" really loudly and then an employee materialized from the back, hastily handed us menus and silverware, and told us to go sit outside wherever we wanted (a dusty parking lot set to the sounds of the heavily trafficked 302). We ordered: - two house margaritas with salt: these were enormous! Oddly, though, one of our drinks came in a glass fishbowl, and one of our drinks came in a plastic fishbowl. One of them had salt, and one of them didn't. Both were in dirty. Neither tasted "housemade". - guacamole: we tried to order the Special Guacamole, but our server said "No" without further explanation. When I asked why it wasn't available they said, "We don't have it." Now... when we walked into this restaurant we saw the guacamole cart (which I assume is the Special Guacamole since it would be housemade in the moment); it was full of fresh ingredients like avocados, freshly chopped tomatoes, cilantro, onion, etc. If the business a) doesn't offer this option outside or b) didn't have the staff to make it, I wish they had just said that instead of being so rude (and possibly lying). I asked, "So do you not have guacamole at all?" And he said, "We have a guacamole like dip." It was a very tiny bowl of pureed avocado. We left wondering what was actually made in-house. The margaritas seemed like mostly sour mix, the salsa seemed like tomatoes run through a blender, and the "guacamole dip" seemed like it came from those little plastic containers at the grocery store where you peel off the lid. There's also not a lot of vegetarian options: essentially it's all variations of refried beans, rice, and cheese (PSA: always check that your refried beans don't have lard; often they do). On the plus side: the server who took over halfway through our snacks and drinks was absolutely FANTASTIC, and the complimentary chips and salsa were appreciated and unexpected since so few places do that anymore!

Good tasty food, large generous portions, take out available, closed Monday. I have to add words to make it 85 characters long.

The staff is the best. The food is the best. Sometimes they don't play music and that's awkward but when then do it's the best.

The only problem with the place, is that, they don't have a parking lot. Plenty of street parking, but the road is a busy one, so use caution. The inside is beautifully decorated and has a nice Hispanic vibe. They have a mug club you can be apart of. They have a good size bar, a few tables and a few booths. It's not huge inside, so when they are busy, there is little room to wait. We arrived with a party of 17, when it was supposed to be 10. They were very accommodating and easy to work with. They had our group rearrange once to get them a few more tables, which was perfectly fine. They deliver chips and homemade salsa , as soon as you sit down at the table. The server had short blondish hair, with glasses and a cute little pin on their apron. She was delightful and efficient, considering our party was so large. The food doesn't come right out, like most other Mexican restaurants. It took a bit of time. The food came out fresh, and delicious. We got a steak quesadilla and a chimichanga. The proteins they had on the menu, were so good. We tried steak, chicken, and beef items, and none were dried out, it wasn't all fatty, and it had flavor! You got your choice of black beans or refried beans and rice with most dishes. Someone in our party also got the churro dessert, that was so so dang good !!! There were several different checks and the server was so good about it, and didn't mess anything up! They were really awesome, and the bartender kept coming over to check on as well. There were other servers there as well, assisting where they could. They really seemed to be working more as a unit, then separately. All around, great food, great service, and great atmosphere!! Well done !!! We were there to celebrate our family's matriarch, whose birthday landed on Cinco De Mayo. She passed in February, and we were a large party of family there to celebrate her!!!

We had lunch and all of our friend was great. Good selection of beer. You can easily park around the corner on Main st. Love this place and we will definitely return the next time we are in Sanford. You're coming here for the…read moreincredibly loud music, the strong margaritas, a more hip/youthful/fun vibe than at other nearby places on Congress, the badass and brutally honest no-nonsense staff, and - if you have NO dietary restrictions - maybe a taco or two. For me, after all these years... maybe because I got old and with that a dairy intolerance... I'm not the demographic. 1) I don't like tequila, and they themselves genuinely don't suggest any cocktail that doesn't have it (a quote directly from their staff [multiple times]). I tried the Cuba Libre (Mexican cola, rum, bitters, fresh lime) recently... and, for the most part, it was a tall glass of citrus juice; I tasted nothing else. 2) There's really not many vegan options: for a filling, there's only Verdue (ancho chili roasted butternut squash with black beans and arugula). At currently $5.50 for one soft taco (which, veganized, comes topped with a smattering of cilantro and scallions) is IMO not worth it compared to other places in town that are offering similarly priced tacos that are slightly bigger and more creative. NOTE: the fried avocado is not vegan. And 3) the guacamole ($12) here is hit or miss. Sometimes it's kind of bland and gloopy (if that makes sense); and, the portion size has definitely gotten smaller pre and post pandemic. Have fun, tequila lovers. This one's for you!
