I've officially been turned off by long drive-thru waits, so I tried to beat the system by dining in. Only to be deterred (at first) by the kiosk machines no humans taking orders anymore. But I was determined. On Friday around 1200, after three attempts, I finally ordered my go-to: the two Chalupa combo with fries and nacho cheese. Been my favorite since discovering Taco Bell in the '90s minus the fries back then and it did not disappoint. Came out fast, hot, and hit the spot. Dining room was packed, bathrooms were clean (huge plus). Funny moment, a kid about 12 walked in with his dad. The kid flew through the kiosk like a pro, while the dad struggled just like me. I'm not going to lie, this Taco Bell & KFC was not the best. However the worker was extremely nice and very patient as I was not sure what I wanted to order yet. She was super friendly and gave me time to look over the menu while waiting so I really appreciated that. The restaurant inside was clean and seemed like the tables were wiped down after each guest. The only problem with this place was the food. My friends nachos were very good but my burrito was burnt. There also wasn't a lot of food inside of it so it looked kinda sad. I'm not too upset with it but I was there looking for something to eat so it was a little disappointing when this Taco Bell wasn't as standard and good as other ones I've been to. I got the cantina chicken cheesy street chalupas. It was ok. Idk why I always want a chalupa. They always seem to not be the right texture for me. I need to remind myself not to get them anymore. My food was ready and waiting in the mobile order shelf. Thankfully, I planned on eating here. The order was a disaster. Every order had a customization but every item was not marked. I had to break into the chalupa and the burritos to see what they were. I went up to the guy at the front with all the chalupas and asked if they were marked. He said " aw they didn't mark it. Sometimes we order Taco Bell through DoorDash. Each time, hoping it will be better than the time before. It is absolutely not the fault of DoorDash driver regarding the quality and the items of food we receive. I have lived in Carlsbad my entire life. I have used the Taco Bell off Palomar Airport Rd in Carlsbad, in person, drive-through, DoorDash, and through their app my entire life. Each and every single time, the food is COLD and the food is always UNDERCOOKED. I have been going to this Taco Bell for over 20 years! The workers don't follow the instructions. In fact, I made orders without any meat. Twice, the entire order had extra meat. Just to fuck with me. When I pay extra for add on, they are missing as well. It's super unfortunate because who doesn't love Taco Bell?! I want to support my local restaurant, but at this point that amount of years I keep ordering from them... thinking it'll change with typical employee turnover...it doesn't. This review is in comparison to other Taco Bells as it doesn't seem fair to judge them on food quality. I have been patronizing this location for years and they always seem to deliver the consistency of food I expect and are easy to communicate with. They definitely make an effort to get the order right. Except for the occasional forgetting of the sauce packets I ask for they have gotten my order right every time for the last 10 years. They are also very efficient, I hardly ever have to wait in line more than a couple of patrons. The Taco Bell in the village is the slowest Taco Bell I've ever been to so it's refreshing that they seem to have the efficiency at this location down to a science.
