Who the hell thinks THIS is "Supreme"???
    Thomas J.

They've been at this location for forever, now. They were closed for renovations, but other Yelpers reported it as permanently close, so can't leave reviews on their original page. Given their prior reviews, the Ownership is probably happy enough to have been able to jettison those reviews. Wish I could say that things have improved with the renovations, but they decidedly have not. Hopped into the drivethrough line a few minutes before 1600. There was one car sitting at the (cash) payment window (seriously: why have a window just for cash payments but have credit-card users pay AT the food delivery window???), me and another car at the two, parallel order kiosks. I ordered two soft taco supreme meals - one with beans instead of ground beef the other with steak instead of ground beef - each with a water. On the menu, one showed up with the "Sup" tag while the other did not. Asked the order-taker if both were actually Supremes. She assured me they were. Both were the same price, so I shrugged and moved on. Went to the first window and, after waiting 10ish minutes for the car that was there to move on, get told by the person there "this is the cash window"(???) ...ooookaaay. Takes a further ten minutes for the car ahead of me to get done paying for and receiving her food. Get to the window, hand them my card. I say to my wife, "check the bag to make sure they made the correct meat substitutions". They eventually hand me my card back followed a minute later by our bag. Slow, but still far faster than the previous vehicle. I was momentarily happy that we'd gotten our food so quickly after such an extraordinarily long was (during not lunch or dinner rush - go figure). I pull up so next car can get complete their transactions and pause so wife can inspect the food order for correctness. She tells me the meats were correct, so I drive out of the lot. We're about a block away when wife notes that the food was cold ...presumably because it had been waiting in a bag for 10 minutes while the person ahead of us sorted out their order. Sub-ideal, but not a "turn the heck around and try to get an actually warm order" - it's Taco Bell so warm or cold isn't really going to make much difference on enjoyableness. By the time I get home, I'm quite hangry. Open my food up to find that my "Supreme" tacos are a few chunks of "steak", lettuce and a bare *hint* of cheese. Not what I'm used to when I order a "Supreme". Wife's tacos are just fine. So, 20 minutes to get cold "fast" food that's incorrectly made. Wish I'd have ordered through DoorDash or whatever as I could have gotten a refund on the food.

    Chicken sandwich taco

This Taco Bell ALWAYS disappoints.. not only has their griller been malfunctioning for over a week stopping me from being able to order almost everything..... but also their in capability of taking an order correctly is absurd. Ordered the chicken taco, looks like its been bitten and sitting in the kitchen for over a day .. thats how old it looked and felt upon unwrapping it. This fast food restaurant should know about safe food regulations and most importantly how to properly sanitize their vegetables. Their lettuce always taste like dirti can't make this up! This location needs new ownership or to be rehabilitated.. it's disgusting.

Because when the craving for real tacos hits, logic and weather forecasts no longer matter. First things first -- parking is easy. Big stoned lot right at the shack. Love that for me. Second thing -- and this is important -- Little Mexico Tacos is CASH ONLY. I learned this at the counter, which triggered an immediate wallet excavation worthy of an archaeological dig. My goal: secure enough funds for a chorizo burrito and street corn in a cup. I found a $20 bill and decided to live dangerously. Plot twist #1: they were out of rice. Brief emotional damage. Apparently rice is a key player in many menu items, but I pivoted like a seasoned professional because when tacos call, you answer. Plot twist #2: my total came to $20.14. FOURTEEN CENTS OVER. I braced myself for the walk of shame, but the guy at the counter waved it off like the legend he is. Sir, if you're reading this, I hope your pillow is always cool and your tacos are always perfect. Also elite-level move: at freezing temperatures, he told me to wait in my car and he'd holler when my food was ready. That's customer service with survival instincts. Let's set expectations: there is no inside here. None. Zero. This is an open-air taco shack. If the weather isn't nice, you're eating elsewhere... or embracing your inner feral raccoon and demolishing tacos in your car. Now for the important part -- THE FOOD. Street Corn (mild -- because I specifically requested "no spicy chaos"): Creamy. Tangy. Fully sauced. Not bland, not overpowering -- just perfectly balanced. Also served in a cup instead of on the cob, which means maximum efficiency and zero mess - WINNING! Chorizo Burrito: Absolute unit. Packed with just-the-right-level-of-spice chorizo, huge portion size, and -- surprise MVP moment -- the tortilla was lightly crisped instead of being a sad floppy wrap straight out of a bag. Half of this thing could feed a small village. I finished every bite of the meat like it was my job. Bonus green sauce situation included (avocado? wizardry?) that I fully expected to melt my face off -- but instead it was mellow and delicious and paired perfectly with the chorizo. Final verdict: Little Mexico Tacos is the real deal. No-frills setup, big flavors, generous portions, kind humans, and the exact kind of taco shack energy that makes you feel like you've unlocked a local secret. I will absolutely be back when the weather warms up so I can sit outside like a civilized human instead of a burrito-powered winter gremlin.

A quick search later and I realized it was only 20 minutes from home. I immediately grabbed a friend and requested a dinner date for the item that caught my eye: the Bratwurst mit Kraut -- bratwurst cooked with apples and sauerkraut, served on a pretzel bun and topped with even more kraut, with a side of German potato salad ($12). But I'll admit... I was also eyeing their Obatzda Burger with Oktoberfest beer cheese. Feeling bold, I asked our waitress if I could order their regular Pretzel Braid appetizer ($9) but swap the usual cheez-wiz and spicy mustard for that dreamy Oktoberfest beer cheese instead. She paused, smiled, wrote it down, and said, "that sounds really good!" Bless the chef for making my pretzel + beer cheese fantasy come true. The pretzel braid was warm, soft, and perfectly salty, and that beer cheese was the real MVP -- smooth, melty, not too hot, and with a proper beer-cheese finish. When the bratwurst plate arrived, it was a showstopper. Juicy brat, tangy kraut piled high, and tucked inside a pretzel roll that was soft but sturdy enough to hold it all together. No mustard needed! The German potato salad surprised me, though -- I'm used to the warm version, so finding it chilled caught me off guard. But honestly? It worked. Perfectly seasoned, just wet enough to be salad without drifting into soupy territory. I demolished both. Dessert was impossible to skip after hearing our waitress describe it to another table. We shared both the Apple Caramel Crumb Cake and the Lemon Blueberry Mascarpone Cake. The crumb cake was served warm with ice cream, loaded with thick, crunchy topping that didn't rely on chopped nuts (bonus points!). The mascarpone cake was light and buttery with the perfect balance of lemon and blueberry -- like saying goodbye to summer and hello to fall all in one dessert sitting. Southside Deli's Oktoberfest menu blew me away, and if their everyday offerings are anywhere close, I've been seriously missing out. Add in free parking, a convenient location, and plenty of seating, and it's an easy go-to spot for lunch or dinner. Southside is officially on my food rotation radar now!
