Yum! Didn't come in here expecting it would be so good, I just pass by it like every day so decided to try. Usually I don't like spring rolls but these ropa vieja ones were amazing. Ordered Taco Bao'T It through Uber eats the other day. It's right by my house so I figured it would try it out. I ordered the Trio and let me say it was very tasty! I ordered the Mushroom Bao, Pork Belly Bao, and the Chicken and Waffles Bao. As delicious as it all was, it does not travel well. There are a lot of sauces and ingredients that spill out so even though the driver got to me in 15 minutes, everything was soggy. I ordered the crab wontons and they were perfect! I've been passing by this spot on the way back from work for weeks and I finally made it in. I went on a taco Tuesday, but they don't do much for that. What I found was a lunch special with the pork belly. Very filling and left me wanting a siesta. They do have a tendency to go hard on the spicy mayo, so if you aren't the biggest fan, I recommend asking for the sauce on the side. The service was excellent, they were super helpful and willing to give me suggestions. Unfortunately, the experience was a bit underwhelming. The Crab Bomb Wonton was disappointing. It was overloaded with cheese and lacked any noticeable crab flavor. As someone who frequently enjoys crab wontons at other spots, I wouldn't recommend getting them here. The Bao Fest was decent and flavorful but the Bao buns were cold. I've worked in a Japanese restaurant in my teens to know that they're best served hot. The experience inside was less enjoyable because the place blared music, making it hard to have a conversation. I was expecting Mexican tacos, but it's Asian fusion place. I honestly almost left as the menu was very difficult to read due to the font and colors. I was having a hard time figuring out the concept and what to order. I suggest they adjust their menu from color and font so it's easier to read. If it's your first time, it's a bit overwhelming. We were about to leave, but saw the slideshow of pictures of food and this was helpful in making a decision in ordering. Food: Crab wontons, shrimp tempura platter with fried rice, mango boba, chispa tacos, and ropa vieja spring rolls. Taco shell were fresh and crisp. The Ropa Vieja spring rolls were tough to eat. The flavor was ok and the meat was not as tender as I expected. $11 for 2 spring rolls was a bit steep. The crab wontons were delicious. You can choose between tiny hard shell tacos and fluffy white bao buns. There are a variety of stuffings you can put in them: a variety of pork, chicken, fish, and every mushrooms. I am happy they listen to their customers, and now offer combo options where you can choose different flavors for your 3 baos or 6 tacos, instead of having them all the same. It's great because there are quite a few to try, and also make it less boring. I must admit, I was I no rush to go there anytime soon as taco stores are dime a dozen around here, but I kept an eye on it on Yelp, and sure enough, positive review after positive review and finally I had to go there and see things for myself. This store is rather small, mostly for take out and delivery, I guess, even though there a couple of small tables inside and outside. But the first thing that strikes you is the staff who are very pleasant and cordial. The cashier seemed to be genuinely happy to be there and she gave us a breakdown of everything on the menu, along with her favorites. I must admit, I did not know what Bao was. We ordered the food, which was prepared very quickly, left the store and looked at the quantity of it, and went back to get more. The food was good. Tacos and Baos are pretty small which is why they serve the Tacos in packs of 6 and Baos in packs of 3, and it is still on the small side. Place is okay. Not bad but not great either. The actual bun is not as fluffy as others but good size and not gummy. Our favorite was the shrimp tempura bao. It was soft, crispy and sauce was good. Also nice was the spicy pork. The sauce is good but I wish the pork had a little more texture. The restaurant is very little so when you eat inside or when you are ordering ... the kitchen hood is right in front of the counter... so you come out smelling like grease. Not very pleasant.
