This is probably my favorite hole in the wall place ever. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I love the chicken tender basket, potato soup, and the pizza burger! Found this dive traveling from Aspen to Ft.Benning. Looking for a quick local lunch. Wife ordered the old fashioned JJ duo with fries which came out hot and first. Burgers were perfectly juicy and on yummy little split buns with the perfect amount of may mustard and pickles- Could have stood another onion slice; But delicious hand patted burgers! My John Wayne Burger was very tasty and plenty enough for a big appetite. The onion rings were few but large with a nice thick batter cooked crispy. Very friendly service and average wait time for a busy lunch time. The bathrooms were not the cleanest we've experienced but I would still make the two mile detour to try the fish sandwich next time we travel near Marion. read more

I was in Memphis and really wanted to cross over to Arkansas! I got really hungry outta nowhere. Even though i was on a diet, when you see a burger place with amazing reviews, its hard not to succumb... I ordered a hamburger wih a side of onion rings. Boy are these goooood!! The onion rings were very crisp and tasty. The burger was so well done, honestly, it saddens me that this place isnt a chain restaurant lol. I wish i could have it everyday!!!! I was hoping for a good experience, and I got anything but that. I got a scoop of ice cream and a fried pie. I gave a two dollar tip for a five dollar purchase. I assume I would be treated kindly. I was wrong. The one scoop of ice cream equaled about two spoonfuls. After one spoon, I threw the rest away. It was truly horrible. Also, there were boxes sitting on top of the ice cream that had no lid on it. The place was dirty and the people were not attentive to the customers. This place sucks. read more

It's a throwback to when American diners served real home style food yet wait times are fairly short considering everything is made to order. A long wait would still be worth it. We stopped by on our way to Louisiana as we like to try different places. They have a large menu with plenty of burgers, sandwiches and desserts. We tried the Waverly burger and Muscadine burger and they were both delicious, and freshly cooked real burgers. The young staff was very friendly and helpful. For dessert we had the banana pudding and cherry pie. All with a welcoming Elvis and John Wayne pictures on the wall. We are glad we stopped. read more

Yeah, the building was definitely a Tastee Freeze in the 70s. Well preserved, just off I55 & Hwy. 64, walls of memorabilia, most of it Elvis from 1956-1977. Menu is large & diverse ~ just about anything I've ever heard of, they make it. It's hard to beat a tasty 1/4 lb. Hamburger for $3.19. Soup is $1.99-$3.99. I thought the Chicken Gumbo flavor was weak, & too much rice made it gummy. Breakfast is served all day. (5) Employees passed by the tables asking if anything was needed. I got the German Chocolate Milkshake and it was one of the best milkshakes I have ever had. Creamy and Smooth. No big clumps like some milkshakes. They give you everything at the drive through window. I left after paying thinking there was a second window for pickup and an employee ran the shake out to me. I went through the drive-thru, but there was no menu posted anywhere. Since I had never been to this place, I asked to see a menu. The girl told me to loop back around and get back in line while I read the menu even though I had waited in a pretty substantial line already at that point. I ordered The Waverly Burger with fries but I only got a single since the pictures burger was so big. The actual burger was much smaller, and not worth $8, though rather tasty. The fries, however, were a huge disappointment. They were frozen Ore-Ida crinkle cut, you know the ones. Certainly not worthy of a place calling itself the "Shake Shack". Just be warned before you go, terrible customer service and overpriced, basic food. There were many people there, so this place is well loved, but my experience was not positive. read more

Not very impressive. We ordered fries & 2 shakes, we received the fries & took 7 more minutes to get shakes. Fries became cold waiting on shakes, owner was there sitting on bar stool, would not make eye contact, they didn't offer to make some hot fresh fries after receiving shakes way later & after paying their high price for all of this, you would think they would be considerate enough to, but no. I can't in good conscience give this place 5 stars or even 4, but it is pretty good. We stopped in mostly just to say that we had gone to Arkansas (coming from Memphis), and we wanted some of the local fare. Well, this is it. They've got lots of fried foods -- their specialty is the fried pies. My fried pie, a caramel apple pie, had potential, but it was a little too high on the fried dough and too low on the apple. My wife's pie was a hot fudge pie, which was basically ice cream on hot fudge on a brownie, and was really quite good. We also got tater tots (because who can resist tater tots?). And we left a tad dejected that we didn't have the stomach space to try the Tang pie. Ah well. Oh, and it's super-cheap. I could have had a belly-busting meal there for about $6 (as it was, we had a couple of belly-busting desserts and a coke for $7). And it seems really popular with the locals, always a good sign. Anyway, if you happen to be driving down the 55 in Arkansas, it's worth a stop. read more
