This meat and there is SO delicious. I dream of the lima beans. And the greens. And the banana pudding, For $10-15, you get a generous serving of protein, two vegetables, and a bread options. You can also add in a dessert for $3. Selections change by day, but you can usually choose from several types of beans, greens, cabbage, and baked chicken. The food is fabulous, tastes like grandma made it- well seasoned, cooked to perfection, served hot. The butter roll cake is particularly good and a pair for an afternoon coffee. The folks at sizzling skillet are super nice- very friendly with customers, and prompt with table service. They were busy the two weekdays that I went, but there are always tables available if you dine in. KID TIP- Sizzlin Skillet offers a kids menu option with grilled cheese and other kids favorites. The restaurant has booth options, and is very chill to bring the whole family.

We both checked out the menu. Even though I'm not supposed to be eating fried foods, I went ahead and ordered the six piece wing combo. It comes with six fried chicken wings and french fries and a fountain drink. We waited about 15 minutes for our food to be ready which tells me that they actually took the time to cook it correctly. I was very happy with what I received and we went to choose a table to sit down and eat. I chose to have Mountain Dew from the fountain drinks because I was still exhausted from my long trip. My six wings were nice and plump juicy and very delicious. They were fried perfectly golden brown and they had enough seasoning on them to make it taste perfectly delicious. The fries here are seasoned fries and they're also fried very well and perfect. I started to get full after eating my fourth wing, but they were so good that I finished all six of them. I ate a little bit of the fries even though they were delicious. I just couldn't fit them in my tummy. They have other items here for sale like catfish, fried okra, hush puppies, fish, and chips things like that and the chicken. I'm happy that I was able to enjoy the wings and my friend also enjoyed her chicken tenders meal. I recommend this place if you're looking for really good fried chicken or fried items because they seasoned them very well. They also have ice cream by the scoop and I didn't have any but my friend did and she said it was good. I spotted about six flavors of ice cream. The staff was very customer service oriented. I appreciated their hospitality.

We ordered the Gator & Shrimp Platter along with the King Crab, and everything was outstanding. The gator was cooked perfectly--tender, flavorful, and some of the best we've had. It's not often you stumble across a place this good while traveling, but Seafood Shack was definitely a pleasant surprise. If you're passing through the area and looking for great seafood, this place is absolutely worth the stop. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area!

This is a cajun joint so expect that sorta taste. Fish was good. Fried shrimp may have been the best I've ever had away from the coast. Fries are the perfect fry for a fish & shrimp combo platter. Hush puppies & slaw are a huge miss, but those crawfish tails & their dipping sauce stole the show. All of their dipping sauces were absolutely great. Boiled corn on the cob was better than fried, but they were both outstanding. Great stop on your way to Memphis or leaving from Memphis going northwest. Service was decent. Prob would have been more excited to see us if we didn't come 45 min before closing, but thats on us. It's got an old Backyard Burger vibe but w/TVs everywhere & servers. Got a good size outdoor patio for thats nice evenings w/no mosquitoes & less than 85 degree heat. The owner of this place also has another local restaurant just across the parking lot called Venue. I will be trying that out on my next trip thru there.

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!

As a child I grew up on fried fish filets and hush puppies until my grandfather had to retire and sell his restaurant due to his Health. He still cooks up a mess of catfish for us about two or three times a year when we visit. Yum! My standards for good catfish are extremely high. Good fried catfish is not greasy, light cornmeal batter, tender flaky inside, and slightly crispy on the outside. Sounds simple enough but the truth of the matter is... Good fried catfish takes skill. After an epic searched for any decent catfish in Memphis and surrounding areas that took a few years ... My family and I decided to give up. And when I heard about Soul Fish it took some considerable convincing to get them to go. We where, none of us, disappointed! Soul Fish is without a doubt the best Catfish in Memphis. It is perfectly fried... Hushpuppies are tasty, coleslaw edible if not always yummy, fried pickles crisp and tart, pickle green tomatoes so yummy I could swim in them, and vegetables always cooked and seasons well (special recognition to the cabbage, broccoli, and black eyed peas). The service is always friendly, fast, efficient, and correct. The blackened catfish is pretty tasty too ... Sometimes they get a little heavy handed on the seasoning. Deserts are pretty great as well. My sister loves the Mississippi mud chocolate thingy they have (I'm not a chocolate fan). I've introduced many people (about 40 or so) to Soul Fish - locals and visitors alike - and no one ... And I mean not a single one of them where disappointed. So why four stars instead of five? True... the catfish is the best in Memphis - however it is not the best I've ever had. And Sometimes a filet or two at Soul Fish fall short of perfection... However ... I'm a regular and a fan of Soul Fish Cafe. If you have spent hours and disappointed meals trying to find good catfish in Memphis ... Look no further ... This is the place for you. I promise you will not Be disappointed!

Memphis is a slight detour on our way back to Texas, but there was no way we were settling for fast food along the highway. We wanted good seafood--fresh, satisfying, and worth the stop. So glad we chose this spot. From the outside, it's simple and unassuming. Inside, it feels like a slightly bougie fish cafe--clean, cozy, and well-kept, with subtle holiday decor and that warm Southern hospitality greeting you at the door. Our server, Denise, was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The one-page menu keeps it simple, and she walked us through it along with the daily special. We ordered the gumbo, salmon burger, and a grilled salmon plate--everything tasted fresh and cooked to order. A perfect seafood meal in Tennessee. We left full, happy, and already planning what to try next time. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

No that would be soft serve was the answer. They do have real ice cream too. We were a bit slow on the uptake, and our sweet counter girl, Emily, who was in her 20s but looked 15, patiently explained the ice cream came in a cup and the milk shakes were soft serve only, because evidently their shake machine can't handle the hard real stuff. We caved, got soft serve. We wanted malts not ice cream sprinkled with malt. *sigh.* Bella, Michael and Kennedy looked on, in training with our youthful trainer, and Kennedy remarked, "You're living on the edge," It was her first day. The place also had other retro food, except for the seed oils, which meant shakes only for us.
