We've been coming here for over 20 years and it's slowly but surely turned into a joke of a store. First of all, there's this woman they hired that is constantly singing, loudly, and it's painful to listen to. Why would you allow one of your employees to do this? It's absurd and beyond annoying, to say nothing of the fact that she can't sing. Secondly, there are two employee vehicles, a Mini Cooper and Audi SQ5 that park in the two spots closest to the doors. God forbid you leave these spots for paying customers who may want to load their vehicles with things they bought from you. It's arrogant and like the singing, shows a distain for your customers. Hours of operation? 11-5 on Saturday. Closed Sunday. Closed Monday. Tuesday - Friday NOON to 5pm. That's a farce. Their prices are way beyond obscene. They seem to think everything is a precious antique and it's no wonder they've got stuff in their languishing for months unsold. read more

Consignment items from the Boston area make Tables to Teapots a museum for the latter half of the 20th century. Furniture ranging from classic to mid-century modern, film cameras, a wide selection of vinyl albums, and wonderful audio gear all caught my eye. As for audio, on the day I visited, they were practically a museum for Henry Kloss's career. I saw AR, KLH, and Cambridge Soundworks classics, as well as glorious examples from other manufacturers like B&O, Philips, Carver, Ohm, and others. I look forward to my next visit. read more

My wife bought a Teak dining room set with 8 chairs for almost $2,000 from Tables to Teapots a few years ago. She bought this set on a Friday before the Massachusetts tax holiday weekend. The sales guy did not suggest that she wait one day in order to save the taxes of at least $100+. Then one of the chairs was falling apart. I sat on it today and it collapsed. I don't think it is repairable, at least not to the point of actually sitting in the chair. Bottom line, be careful when you buy stuff here. read more

This is a fun place to browse- there is a bit of everything and it changes quickly. It's nice there are automatic price reductions on the tags. I picked up a couple of pottery items a few weeks back and one was on the sale table for $5.00. It's a great place to find a full set of plates as they usually have several sets... also tons of mirrors. I am not a fan of all the musical stuff but I am sure there are people that love it. The most recent review seems to be two years old, so I'll post a fresh one since I've started shopping/selling there recently. I've been consigning and shopping here for the past half-year and focused mostly on their audio equipment. The selling process is easy and the pieces I've found are quite a nice find. I've consigned some of my records and the process is easy, and I made a little "pizza money" from albums I no longer listen to. As a customer, I was delighted to find a solid oak monk's bench for only $130. Although it had been hard-used and needed lots of work, the underlying quality (thicker than one inch solid oak with a lovely grain) is almost unattainable in new furniture these days. You couldn't buy half of the lumber for the price I paid. It took some elbow grease and the paint cost more than the item, but it refinished beautifully. After reading the other reviews from people who sold their items here, I now feel a bit guilty! Did the shop arbitrarily choose the absurdly low price?! I would hope that pricing is something set and agreed upon by both selling parties. I thought maybe someone just wanted that heavy thing with the weird smell and the stains out of their basement. Now I wonder! I found the staff to be pleasant and friendly, even though I was dressed in my work clothes. 5 stars if they offered help moving larger pieces in or out of the store. Couldn't help but think that some it's are priced out of this universe. It can be hot or miss with prices and what they have. Typical of some consignment stores the price goes down over time so pay attention to those tags. Can't say that the women running this place are very friendly or helpful and are about as knowledgable about antiques as whatever they can find on eBay. Still worth a check once in a while to see what's new. read more

The last 2 consignments I have had several items vanish one being about a 100 - 140 dollar item.There seems to be an issue with things disappearing there...I have been going there for 20 years but will probably move on with my latest experience. I first heard of this shop long ago, when I lived in Winchester. An acquaintance told me about the place, but had no idea how to get to it as she had been driven there by a friend. I was pleased by what she had to say but never remembered to go. I moved to another part of the state 10 years ago. I found T to T last summer, while waiting for a traffic light. I just happened to look to my right. I remembered what I was told. I pulled around the corner and stopped to visit. I was impressed. My daughter lives near Consignment Corner in North Chelmsford. Frankly, I thought one aspect of the reviews posted here were about CC. Don't get me wrong. I like CC which is enjoying a renaissance as younger homeowners are finding most furniture stores today offer over-priced and poorly constructed goods. I like CC but I find the quality of goods at T to T far better. Since discovering this store, this Social Security recipient bought a set of dishes at a very good price. Yes, there were some chips on the underside of three smaller plates but, as the pattern was discontinued by the manufacturer and the only way to purchase it is through second-hand shops or yard sales or on the web, it is a bargain. I also bought something I always wanted, a butler's tray table. Sure there are some marks where a vacuum cleaner hit the legs, but, it was less expensive than a newly made particle board and veneer table. I also bought a Victorian era desk that may have an interesting history. I will tell you when my research is done. All in all, this store does not deserve its reviews, most of which I thought were based on unrealistic expectations. read more

It's a good place to pop in if you are nearby. I've seen some pretty nifty deals, once in awhile. We sold some stuff here, as well. That was a little weird. If things don't sell, you have the option of donating them to charity. It's a wee strange, because they don't really inform you of what's up, and you take it on faith that the item did not, in fact, sell. Have bought a lot of stuff from this place over the years. So has my sister and brother. NO MORE! I bought a clock there and it didn't work. I brought it back immediately and clerk (I assume she was the owner) told me I should have tried it before I bought it (it needed batteries). I told her she should have tried it before SHE bought it and then tried to sell it (or did she?) and she sold it anyway? I visit the neighboring town frequently. I have found good things at good prices. Selection is limited by size of store and sometimes a price is high or a quality low, but there is a lot of interesting stuff, they mark down over time and if you look around, you'll probably find something you like. read more

The key to shopping at a consignment shop is to pop in on a regular basis.....you never know what you will find. Knowing the kind of income that resides in Acton and the surrounding area, we had great hope for Tables to Teapots. Unfortunately, we saw lots of stuff that was not much better than what one finds at a typical thrift shop. I spied a beautiful English platter at a great price, but I have enough platters and bowls that I resisted. My husband found a chair out of an Austin Powers movie...interesting form but worn and dirty upholstery. Might pop in again if our travels take us to the area.....who know what we might find! read more

PLEASANT SURPRISE! I just bought a piece of furniture from Tables to Teapots. In the past the sales staff would ask , "How soon can you pick this up and get it out of here?" But instead I was asked by the gentleman who was helping me, "Would you like me to deliver this?" Shocked, I replied, "Sure. How much do you charge?" He said, "No charge if you don't live too far away." Wow! Awesome! Turns out, he is the new owner. What a great way to increase business! read more

Recently consigned several pieces. Made my appt. Signed their contract. Agreed to their terms. 3 weeks later, a woman calls me and says, "...Are you the one that dropped off the painted furniture? My boss is really upset that we took your items. You need to come and pick them up..." She never introduced herself, never apologized for their mistake. They reneged on my contract. This woman was unkind, abrupt and unprofessional. There is an underlying rudeness to this shop. This has been a horrible and humiliating experience. Should have paid closer attention to the yelp reviews. I'm not the only one to see this place for what it is-awful. read more

There is only one word, well, probably more, but the word I will use here is Awful. It's policies for what you can bring for consignment are not well defined and your stuff can be rather arbitrarily rejected upon arrival on your appointed date. The staff (mostly) are unpleasant women who seem to think they are working in a high end shop. They do not issue a receipt for the items you bring and you need to assume they will remember who brings what and what the final disposition of your item will ultimately be. I have had two encounters with Table to Teapots as a person who wantwd to simply consign a couple of good quality, good condition, items. The process I had to go through was pretty unbelievable. Needless to say, I will not deal with them in the future. It's just too unpleasant and too difficult. 1 star is a generous rating. read more

I used to love this store when it was located up on route 119, but since they moved I have been unimpressed. It is in a much better location, but the inventory is boring. Lots of 1980s pastel furnishings and run of the mill older furniture with too high prices. I've never felt particularly welcome by the sales people here, either. Very cold and aloof. Save your time and money, as there are many far better consignment shops in the area. Artful Home has better merchandise and better prices, and if you go over to Hudson, Still Life is fabulous (my favorite), and so is Furniture and more, right down the street from Still Life. read more

If you are thinking of consigning items to Tables to Teapots, know the following: Their policy involves quick turn-around and hipster taste, i.e. the emphasis is now on old typewriters and mid-century furniture. As a matter of course, your items will be under-priced, regardless of their intrinsic value, original cost, or actual condition. Inexplicably, certain items may be deemed "unworthy" of the Tables to Teapots venue and thence banished from the sales floor (even if said items have been accepted and priced for sale). Your items may also vanish with no explanation. In short, there are plenty of nooks in the store combined with minimal supervision of shoppers, and theft seems to be an increasing problem. Get there before the designated "pick-up date" because staff jump the gun on markdowns, and your items can end up being sold for a few pennies on the dollar -- even if you have left express instructions that you want any unsold items returned to you. They keep half of the proceeds and thus make a good profit from your possessions, explaining why you may walk away from the transaction feeling not quite whole. read more

I went in to buy a file cabinet...and ended up with an incredible deal on an Oak dining table as well....with 4 extenders...perfect condition...for 1/5th the price at any store. The staff is friendly and helpful, and I had help getting my purchases to the car. The File cab was almost new, and half the price of a new one. I will return often for things I need. Everything I saw...from dishes to bookcases to plant holders to desks were top quality, and very well priced. See the owner...a really nice guy. My wife and I used to like this place. However since the new management took over we simply love the place. Simply put, the stock turn over is better, they seem to have far more friendly and engaging staff, and the opportunity to find a great bargain is still there. (The secret to T&T bargain hunting is to go regularly, and now with the better turnover of stock this yields far more bargains). For instance a few weeks back we found a killer set of draws, killer in the sense a great bargain, and also too heavy and large to fit in the car! Next thing you know a gentleman called John offered to help us by delivering. When he dropped them off we argued for a while because he refused any payment/gratuity. After he left my wife told me I was a klutz - that was the owner. He was polite and helpful, and just cemented our love for T&T (Thank you John). Now that IS customer service. Tables to Teapots goes the extra mile on both sides of the coin. Buying and Selling. I learned this when I was frantic with the sale of my home, the owner and his staff went above and beyond in getting my furniture to T2T, and it sold in record time. The owner knows how to price so both sides are happy customers. He knows quality and is particular in what he takes. Things sell quickly so there's always lots of choices. If I'd written this review when I first started shopping at Tables to teapots ( in their previous location ) I'd have given it 4 or 5 stars , but since moving to the new location it's been a slow steady decline. I haven't had any problem with sales people as some reviewers have so I'm going on the selection , quality and price of items for sale. It's not in my neighborhood, but my husband and I like to include it in a Sunday drive a couple of times a year so maybe I've been hitting it on off weeks but I haven't purchased anything in my last 4 visits so I doubt if I'll return again. The past few times I've been, the furniture was mostly bad overstuffed eighties leather or pastel upholstered colonial granny furniture. They had 2 teak "bookshelves" for sale @ 75 dollars each but both were upper shelf units removed from credenzas and not suitable as free standing bookshelves unless you wanted to add some legs or a toe kick . Lots of really bad pottery and glass, tacky artwork and seriously dated dining sets rounded out the selection. Without a new set of buyers to bring up the quality and styles of items they'll be out of business in no time. read more

It used to be much better. The goods are not as high quality as they used to be and the prices are much higher. More "junque" and less antiques but they have more of a mix than other consignment places. That being said, sometimes you can find some good things. read more

Wow, what a difference a new owner makes in this local consignment shop! I have been buying and selling here for many years and in the past the owner and some of the staff (not all) tried my patience on many an occasion but not any more! The new owner has made many upgrades and changes to the shop all beneficial to both buyer and seller. The inventory is more interesting and varied, the arrangement of the store itself is much improved, and items can be seen more easily. The owner and staff are helpful and friendly and that makes such a difference in the experience. The whole atmosphere in the shop has changed for the better. Many of the prior restrictions have now been lifted. In addition my sales are up and I have recently bought several fantastic items. The prices are great and you just never know what you will find. I loved the old location and consistently found great stuff..I loved the place!!! The new store seems devoid of the spirit of the old location. I saw nothing that charmed or surprised me...lots of 80's and 90's discards. The keepers are not helpful, and the prices are a bit of a stretch...I fear the place is irrelevant...and another consigner has bit the dust...which pains me because I love great consignment stores!!! read more

I have consigned in the past with good results at Tables To Teapots, unfortunately things have changed drastically since last consigning over 3 years ago. They priced my items at such a ridiculously low price, it was not worth the time or aggravation. When the consignment time was up, I called to say that I would be coming to pick up the items that hadn't sold. I was told by someone on the phone " oh..you have to go thru the store and look for your things, we don't do that". When I arrived later that morning to get my unsold belongings, I was unable to find one item. I attempted to ask 3 women that worked there to help me find my unsold item. No one would help me locate my item! The rudest associate, an elderly woman gave me a dirty look and said she couldn't help me. After insisting that someone help me find the item, an associate said " You're right its' not here". So my item was obviously STOLEN and the associate's reply was " Well, it's that time of year, things go missing". Stay away from this wretched place, they are rude and they price your items so low it's not worth your time. read more
