The boxes are so large and so deep, it is nearly impossible to reach the bottom. Also mixing mens and womens clothing made it hardto find clothes. I was disgusted by the stains on many of the items, from vomit on yltops, to menstrual stains on leggings. I shopped the regular store and those clothes are clean and in much better condition. The young salesgirl threw a pair of earrings I bought in a bag with several clothing items and it took me awhile to find them. All items were $5 unless marked another price. Im usually happy with this store, but Ill never go to that basement again. The fill a bag for $5 is not worth the hassle and bacteria. Couldnt wait to spray my hands with sanitizer after todays visit.

We've been coming here for over 20 years and it's slowly but surely turned into a joke of a store…read more First of all, there's this woman they hired that is constantly singing, loudly, and it's painful to listen to. Why would you allow one of your employees to do this? It's absurd and beyond annoying, to say nothing of the fact that she can't sing. Secondly, there are two employee vehicles, a Mini Cooper and Audi SQ5 that park in the two spots closest to the doors. God forbid you leave these spots for paying customers who may want to load their vehicles with things they bought from you. It's arrogant and like the singing, shows a distain for your customers. Hours of operation? 11-5 on Saturday. Closed Sunday. Closed Monday. Tuesday - Friday NOON to 5pm. That's a farce. Their prices are way beyond obscene. They seem to think everything is a precious antique and it's no wonder they've got stuff in their languishing for months unsold.

Barton & Company. The reason why I picked this antique store in particular was because last time when I was on this street, I saw this store and the visual display caught my attention. As much as I wanted to go in and to explore, I couldn't, because I had a hot large pizza to-go with me at the time. I couldn't pick of a better excuse to come out to Hudson then to wander in and know I could find something. The store was not overly dusty as far as vintage shops goes, everything was a visible and you don't feel like you're going to knock anything over if you want to touch or hold an item. I found this beautiful driftwood with a blown glass bowl which they could probably put anything in it and use as a center piece. Totally happy with the find! Overall Service: The guy in here was very helpful and pointed out several different items that he thought would make a perfect gift. I'm still in the process of settling into my new home and now have just the store to go to for eccentric pieces when I start decorating it.

Yikes! A lot changed since last time I was here…read more When you walk through the front door, you'll swear you're on the set of "Hoarders." There is stuff everywhere. You can barely make in through the aisles. I'm not sure what is available in the front room - if there isn't a giant stuffed animal blocking your view, there are boxes in the way. You want to see the jewelry in the front case. You can't. Too much junk in the way. If you make your way into the front side room, it is pretty tidy in there. That's where you'll find clothes, books, and puzzles. I checked the price of a paperback book - $2. Puzzles were between $2 and $5 (some new). If you make your way to the back room there is kitchenware and kids' toys. A used cheese grater that was originally $9 was marked $5. Too much for this cheapo. A vintage looking electrical appliance was $75. I don't know what is was, but that seems way too pricey for any small kitchen appliance. I was interested in some of the china, but it was packed in too tight with coffee cups ($2) dangling from hooks in front of them. Removing a plate would be like playing Jenga with glass blocks. They need to have a sale and get rid of some of the junk that is just in the way. People can't buy things if they can't see them. Do like other thrift stores and figure out a way to identify how long something has been on the store floor, and then automatically drop the price after a month or whatever. I know you want to make as much as you can for the charity, but if people can't see what you're selling, they won't buy it. If you price it too high for your clientele, it won't sell either. You can't raise money for the charity by just hoarding stuff! I do want to point out that the women who work here are very nice!

Beyond the great mission and extremely nice staff, however, it is just a fantastic thrift store. I was drawn in by a beautiful, spindly but sturdy bookcase sitting outside of the shop. Taking into account that the item looked like an antique and was very sturdy, I assumed that that a fair flea market price would be around $40.00, but all that they wanted was $12. Astonished by the deal, I decided to dig around a little bit more. Behind the small and unassuming store front is a veritable cavern of Halloween costumes, ice skates, and more kitchen items that you can shake a stick at. Love it and will definitely be back.

They also damaged an antique clock of mine and were unwilling to reimburse me for its value and that became part of my original complaint to the Court. The Magistrate ordered that Don and Nancy Koswieski reinburse me for the value of the clock damaged while in their care. I took them to Small Claims Court also seeking "Specific Performance"--meaning that the Court compel the shop to finish offering my items for sale as had been originally agreed--but as it was a small claims action, the Magistrate did not rule on that specific issue. Instead, she ordered the items to be made available for me to pick up. I had not asked for their return nor for the associated pick-up charges in the original complaint, and because I had not done so, I could not later ask for the refund of the associated pick-up fees for those items. Despite my many, many requests, the shop inexpicably refused to provide me with a complete list of my items that had been accepted on consignment, that they had never offered for sale. The shop never refunded me approximately $300 in pick-up fees for the items never offered for sale. Nancy and Don Koswieski had filed a counter-claim seeking to charge me storage and other fees, but they did not prevail and the Magistrate denied their claim. No matter how many times I had asked the shop to simply complete the offering of my property for sale, they refused. I was obliged to take them to Court as a result. I would certainly not recommend consigning to Gallery 56 in Clinton Massachusetts
