This is a great place to see a show. From what I understand it is an old converted church. Three levels, standing room on the first, seated reserved seats on the balcony on the second, and standing room VIP on the third. Sound quality was good for me, where as I see other reviewer's complaining. General admission tickets are very reasonable. There are many bars located throughout the venue, so service is quick. My only critique is that we payed extra for reserved seating, a lot extra. The seats were fantastic! (VIP access to the third floor, roof and private bathrooms). However the seats next to us were empty and all night people approached us to ask if anyone was sitting in them. Annoying. The usher could have done a better job, or they should put up a rope to define the space. Other then that, awesome spot with a lot of great acts rolling through. read more

MUST READ: so me and a few girls went a EDM concert here. upon entrance, they almost wouldn't let us in because they suspected one of us was tipsy. after entering, cops approached us in the crowd for our IDS. The one who had been drinking was 21, and they said her REAL ID was fake. they took us to the back room and held us for over two hours. they wouldn't scan the ID, but nearly broke it bending it. i gave them my ID (i'm 19) to compare, and they STILL wouldn't believe it and nearly ruined mine too. Why would i have a fake ID that didn't even say i'm 21? they then confirmed the ID was real so they then said we were on drugs to keep us held. Easily ruined our night considering we were not doing anything worse than anyone else in the crowed. read more

This is a pretty remarkable place to see a show. The furnishings alone are worth the visit. I like how there are different levels in the building, just like the Masquerade. I don't remember drink prices being all too high for a concert, but I have only been during the week, this could make the prices cheaper. I have been here for 3 shows, and I would love to make it to some more. The sound is kind of loud in here, but I like it that way. Good location. I will never go back. EVER. There are plenty of other, better places to see your favorite artist than this hole. I was there on 8/19/2017 for the 21 Savage Show. I couldn't help but notice that the mostly white staff seemed to resent the hip-hop crowd (which had a good mix of all races there). The staff was power tripping, and made sure to let us know not to have any fun during the concert. My brother is 21 Savage's Manager, and he left tickets, as well as VIP bands for myself and a friend at the will call window. The two women at the will call window had an attitude like the rest of the staff. When I gave my name, she seemed to be annoyed that I was actually on the list, and then demanded my ID- She asked in a way that I could tell she was hoping I wouldn't have it. I provided it and was given my ticket without any further instruction. Before I went inside, I noticed a sign on the Will Call Window, it read: "NO SMOKING AT THE WINDOW". Seeing that, I asked one of the ladies if smoking was allowed inside. She literally rolled her eyes, and pointed at the sign I had just read. I looked at her and said, "Yes, It says no smoking at the window. I can read you know. I was inquiring about the inside. To which she finally said, "No." Smartass. Then we were hassled going in, security making me empty every single from my pockets, making sure I threw away even my bottle of soda. Once inside, there was no direction, and nobody could even direct me, or tell me what the VIP band gained me access to. Once we settled into some random seats on the upper level, I had more than one staff member (each time a white person) approach me about a cigar I had in my mouth. It was a cigar, not marijuana, and I never lit it, as I was saving it for after the show. The point is: These people were LOOKING for me to do something wrong, and all over my case the entire show. I did not have fun at all, and they had their mission accomplished. I made sure to recommend to 21's Management Co- Meezy Ent, and his label (Epic/Sony) records that they should steer ALL future acts away from the Tabernacle. If you don't want black people there fine, but don't invite our artists and treat us like shit. BTW, after the show was over there wer eliterally 2-3 police paddy wagons with tons of police looking to arrest people for BS like loitering (you know when the show is over and people are hanging aroubd- some waiting on rides, some guys tjust talking with friends or meeting the ladies- yeah they were arresting people for that) It was pay, hurry up, watch the show, but dont enjoy, now get the hell off the property! That'sa exactly how I was made to feel. That attitude has to come from ownership on down. Also, there's no AC! In Atlanta...in the summer! The show may as well have been outside it was so damn hot. They didn't take the time to make a door or anything separating the men and women's restrooms, so I watched women keep walking into the men's room by mistake, and vice versa. Genius design there guys. By the way the venue is in a crap location, no street parking, and you will be forced into a parking deck where prices are sure to be jacked up any night there is a show. Overall I would give it ZERO stars if possible. To the black community, this place does not want or value your business. They want to treat a concert like a school assembly, and get off on power tripping on people of color. You have been warned. To the Staff: You never know when that Black guy with the Raiden hat, and long dreadlocks that you are harassing may be the brother of an Industry Power Hitter. To the management, you can spare me with any weak attempt at offering me a free drink, or tickets to another show- It's OK. You had your chance to make a first impression and it sucked. read more

It was my second time here and the first time there were seats on the 1st floor. I came today and there is standing room only on the first floor and one level open for seating. I would go as far to say that the Tabernacle is the best concert venue in Atlanta. It has a very intimate feel even when it's filled to capacity. The staff has been always friendly and I like the range of acts that perform there whether it's a big comedian or a rap group. read more

I've been to many music venues and I'm going to say that this venue is a new favorite. I went for two nights of The Revivalists and the venue elevated the concert experience. It's beautiful, there are three levels, giving you options on how and where you want to view the show. There is an awesome VIP area called "The Room" for an upgraded experience. The AGM there Steve Carle and his staff were top notch and made my experience one that I will always remember! read more

The worst concert venue I have ever been to. Walked up and bought tickets for a 11:30 show at 11:30, then attempted to walk in the venue. Was told we would have to wait 45 minutes outside (it was raining) and could not wait inside for the concert to start. Attempted to reason with the security staff at the absurd request to wait outside, but was told we could not enter and told us to wait on the street. Worst. Venue. Ever. read more

One of the first things that I noticed is that the interior of this venue is gorgeous. It's got a really cool history actually, it used to be a church! It's a great venue, but the biggest drawback is that the floor gets SUPER crowded. It's best to try and get on one of the upper levels if you can! I love the Tabernacle. The only thing I have against them is that their tickets always have super hefty fees (almost 40%), which is so unnecessary since we have a great local ticketing company here in the ATL that charges less (used by venues like Center Stage). But I always know I'll see a good show here. The sound is always great--and that's huge. There's a reason that bands that could easily do larger venues still loyally come here (i.e. The Black Crowes). It somehow always feels intimate--even the people who opt for the balconies feel a part of the crowd below, and I don't know that there's a bad spot on the floor, because it's tilted downward so you don't have to suffer due to some giant dude in front of you who blocks your every attempt to see. Sure, there will be people spilling their beer. And yeah, I've seen people smoke pot and the security do nothing (and some folks think that's great). But the show will be good. I have yet to see a band here who didn't have fun--who didn't enjoy themselves immensely. Everyone who works here that I've ever met is super nice, and with the exception of security, they seem like they actually enjoy working there. Big plus for the vibe of the place. The parking is city parking. People outside the city will not like it. But seriously, it isn't as bad as it could be. There are plenty of spaces/lots nearby, and if you're lucky (and late), you can snag one late when someone's coming out of the machine lot (where you pay at a machine). In recent years the lots have jacked up their prices during show hours, but like I said, it could be worse. You could have to search for parking and walk a zillion blocks. There are some other great venues in Atlanta, but the Tabernacle will probably always be my favorite. You always feel at home there. read more

I have had many amazing nights at the Tabby. They get GREAT musicians and I really like the set up of the venue. I watched the National Championship here and that event was very well run. It was a perfect setting to watch the game. I do think the drinks are WAY overpriced. And I wish tickets to shows here weren't through Ticketmaster. Still love this place though! read more

This is my favorite music venue of all time. And this is coming from someone who's seen a lot of concerts in a lot of cities in a lot of venues. As i'm sure the other reviewers have pointed out, the Tabernacle is located in downtown Atlanta and is a huge converted 3-story church. The capacity is around 1800, which is the perfect number for rising star bands and huge bands that want to play to smaller crowds for a more intimate atmosphere. The venue is complely General Admission, no assigned seating here. The venue is most definitely intimate as even someone on the 3rd story has an excellent view of the artist(s). There's no squinting of eyes to catch a glimpse here. The acoustics are absolutely top-notch (probably designed that way so sermons could be heard well). There are nice bars to go get a drink everywhere and on the upper levels, some nice couches to relax on. If you're in the pit area and are patient enough to wait in line for a front row spot, you are literally right up next to the artist. There is a barrier but it is very small and artists regularly come down to chill with the fans in the front rows. I've seen some of my favorite bands here, such as Bloc Party and Interpol, but I do know that bands as big as the Foo Fighters or The Strokes play here as well as someone like John Mayer (not a fan but just to give you an idea of how popular some of the artists can be). If a band you like comes into town and is playing at the Tabernacle, I highly recommend getting tickets. read more

My feet hurt in this venue. Guess I wore the wrong shoes. I stopped enjoying Alicia Keyes by the time she got to the third song. Next time I was going to an open seating event I'd probably try to get there early enough to get one of the coveted second level seats. Parking can also be kind of a pain. If there is something going on at Philips Arena or even at the Dome, parking can cost almost $20. You are best parking along the street somewhere and walking. read more

I have been to a lot of concerts in my day and I must say the Tabernacle is pretty high on my list of favorites. If you've never been, I highly recommend. It is a converted church so there is not a bad seat in the house. And let me give my recommendation to forgo the floor and go for the seats. I am past my prime mosh pit days and it is just awesome to be able to go up into the balcony and see the band from about as close as you would be on the floor. Imagine, being able to save your seat, go to the bar and go to the bathroom all within 20 ft of you. Yes that is the beauty that is the Tabernacle balcony. This is upper limits of my high capacity venue, you can have your arena tours and outdoor amphitheaters. I'll be enjoying my Heineken on my behind and relaxing. read more

Lets just say the Tabernacle is a GREAT place to see a show if you are willing to be patient and stand. I am, so I happen to love this place- however, if standing at a concert or having a seat is important to you, you may want to wait until your favorite band rolls into a different venue. To begin- the furnishings and vibe in this place are amazing, from the painted ceiling and balconies, you can't leave here saying this place doesn't have a distinct personality. Almost everyone in the house has a great place and can see the stage well. However- if you are on the floor and standing, you may have to push your way towards the front to see better, and do not expect to walk away and have your same place back. Be willing to stand and fight your way to the front for an amazing view, and you will certainly get it. The balcony does offer seats, however, many people choose to stand there as well, so if this isn't your thing, this probably isn't the place for you. It also pays to park further away and just walk, it is a huge rip off to pay $20 to park right by the Tabernacle when you can generally find parking on the streets or over by the congress center for only $8. All of that being said, there really is nothing greater than seeing a band you love in a venue with such flair. I love knowing that I am in an old converted church listening to some of the best music around. For me the personality of the place adds something to the show, that of course including great acoustics and generally a good crowd! Check out the Tabernacle for an eclectic range of music, and have a great time vibing in one of the coolest places around. read more

If given a choice, I'd prefer a small venue over a large venue in which the entertainers appear to be specks and the sound quality is poor. I know the routine with these smaller venues, seating is at a first-come-first-serve basis and then the rest of the floor is for standing room. I have to say, The Tabernacle exceeded my expectations. While it had first-come-first-serve seating and standing room, it was so much more. It's a multi-level place. The first floor is where the stage is and its strictly standing room only with a number of bars. Walking up the stairs leads you to the seating. What sets the Tabernacle apart from other venues I've been to is the arrangement. This floor also has its own bar, but it also has side rooms that are like small lounges where you can chill out at. They have comfortable seating and TVs in the rooms where you can watch the performance. Taking another flight of stairs leads you to similar rooms, some without TVs. For you exhibitionists, some of these rooms have beds. If that wasn't enough, there's another floor. This last for has more seating and bars. Like all venues of this sort, it gets excessively hot after awhile, but its way cooler in the side rooms and bar areas. Since it's located downtown, there's parking all around the area. When I purchased tickets from Ticketmaster, I also purchased parking at a garage one time. I recommend that route. It alleviates looking for parking. read more

For a bit extra we paid for VIP TICKETS to get in early and to be able to choose our seats first as all seats are general admission. We got great seats in the first level balcony on the side. But during the concert security allowed anyone that wanted to to come down in the isle in front of us and just hang out there taking videos of the band STANDING UP right in front of us!! This is a fun place with great sound! Ive been here three times now. But one thing: TOO HOT! Wear the lightest clothing you can, and stay hydrated. because standing in the crowded general admission area it gets very hot and there is no fans. If you don't have seats on the floor, don't bother going. There are NO speakers in the upper gallery and while there are viewing screens, the picture is the same as the current view with nobody behind the camera following the act or zooming in. Standing at the rail by the bar is somewhat better but only slightly. When I asked where I might go to actually hear what Stewart/Chapelle were saying, they said, "we're working on it". Went this past Saturday night to see the very talented Ryan Adams. Let me just say that Ryan Adams knows how to put on a great show, and the Tabernacle couldn't have been a better venue for it. Its in an old church building that served as the House of Blues during the Olympics (I learned this by talking to one of the ushers). The original hardwood floors were just re-finished last month (beautiful!). It's a decent sized venue, but small enough that you still feel like you get an intimate performance. Its a little musky (as old buildings are known to be) and ecliptically painted, however, a truly fantastic place to see your favorite bands. read more

I have seen many shows at the Tabernacle. One good thing about it is..you can choose to stand the entire show or sit in the seating above the floor. There are several bars. The restrooms can develop a line during intermission or before/after the show. They also have a room where you can watch the show on a couple of TV's. Good acoustics and a nice location. Plenty of pay parking around this venue..usually $12.00 per car. read more

I love this place! Small venues Rock! I can't count how many shows I have seen here. The last one was Angels & Airwaves on Sunday May 16th. The acoustics were amazing as usual. It does get crowded and HOT but hey, isn't that how a good concert usually is??? They have lot's of bars which is great and lots of stairs for exercise. The restroom lines upstairs are usually quite long but that is not unusual for a concert. Luckily there are another set of restrooms downstairs. read more

Been here for 3 shows. Every show something really F'ed up happens. Don't come expecting a comfortable seat if you buy general admission. Only seats are in the balcony. You can get a great view of the band if you are willing to "put your elbows out" and fight for your personal space. People working Security personnel are not there to make your experience a pleasurable one. They are there for riot control and treat you like so. Too bad that the worlds greatest music artist's fans are treated like sh*t. Won't ever go back there, no matter who the artist is. read more

Absolutely loved this venue. It's gorgeous, and the sound is spectacular. There's really no such thing as a bad seat in this place. I saw a band I really liked and loved that I was able to choose whether to stand (downstairs) or that there were theatre-style chairs on level 2 and 3 (and plenty of them)! I don't know why any EDM DJ would play at a venue, that clearly hates the culture, the music, and all the EDM fans, in general. I don't appreciate paying 60$ to be yelled at, searched, frisked, and just basically mistreated by the staff... I PAYED to be there, but they treated us like filthy vagrants. No fanny packs? Seriously? Is that a gang thing? I won't go to another show there. I'd rather sit on my couch and listen to Excision, by myself, than be in that sweaty, broken down shithole, again. read more

Terrific and fascinating venue, but when trekking up to the top level during the last concert I attended, I couldn't help but wonder about the fire safety/codes.
