    Spinach Vegan Samsa
    Philip S.

It's great to see these guys are still in business! I remember them two years prior to the pandemic. They were parked outside my office complex and their big pie display on side of their truck sparked my attention. Back then the young gentleman told me that he was just starting this business. He then kindly explained to me all the delicious varieties of pies he had to offer. After trying their beef, mushroom, and spinach pies... I have always been very satisfied with their food. The exterior texture of the pastry is very soft and had just enough crunch to it. Once you start digging in you really can't stop, haha. You can taste all the delicious ingredients inside the pastry. Slightly moist, not heavy on the sodium, but just right... at least for me. Now that they are back, I saw they had more additional items on their menu, fantastic! Once again I went for their Spinach Samsa. :) Next time around though I plan on trying their other new items. Highly recommend everyone if you want something savory in a small pastry form and that doesn't make you feel overly full. Oh I also had their Carrot Salad, also a very good, however it was a bit on the garlicky side. Enjoy!

I tried one of their pies earlier today at the Sodo flea market. It was okay. I asked for the curry chicken pie and either they skimped on the curry or they gave me the wrong pie (not sure what else it could've been because it was chicken but they have no other chicken pies on their menu) because there was no curry flavor. Pretty disappointing in that regard. The pie was a little bigger than my palm and very stuffed with filling. The bottom of the pastry was very soggy, but on the upside that meant the filling was hot and juicy. It was $6/pie, up from $5

I was so excited to see the Tabassum food truck with these vegan hand pies at our church community event tonight!! I wasn't expecting to find a lot of vegan options, so this was awesome, and they were delicious!! The mushroom potato one was my favorite, it had a delicious blend of savory spices with a little bit of sweetness reminding me of curry with cinnamon. Fantastic!!

Final bites of a chicken roll. D-lish!

You are incredible! Delicious food. I didn't know what to expect while ordering. Everything was delicious. Thank you for being friendly too.

    Butternut squash samsa
    Huong L.

I'm surprised that this food truck doesn't have a lot of people waiting in line for their food. This place was at the South lake Union farmers market and we had the butternut squash samsa. It was a plain simple dish but flavorful, flaky and light. For $5, you can get a quick decent light lunch. I definitely would want to try their other dishes if there wasn't so many other things to try at the farmers market :)

    Beef Samsa ($5)

Delicious!! Saw this "savory pie" food truck in the parking lot at Growler Guys and wasn't sure what to expect. I ordered a beef samsa ($5) and was very impressed when the guy reached over and immediately handed me one. I figured it might not be warm, but it was piping hot! The outside is nice and crisp and flaky, and the inside was heated through and super flavorful. Typically I'm the person who douses their food in hot sauce, but this was so flavorful I didn't even miss it (you can add sriracha for $0.10) The beef filling does have a very strong cumin flavor, FYI, in case that bothers people. It reminds me a lot of the cumin lamb skewers you can get on the streets in Beijing. For $5, the pie was a bit on the small side, but it was packed with filling and flavor, and for food truck pricing it's really not bad at all. I highly recommend trying this if you ever come across it. I was so impressed I had to write a 5star review while still eating the pie :)

Plov ($10) - Traditional Uzbek rice dish
    Courtney L.

According to Google, Tabassum appears as the one and only contender for Uzbek cuisine in the Seattle area. Their menu is comprised of mainly samsas - flaky hand-pies stuffed with savory meat and/or veggie filling - but also offer a rice dish known as Plov and a couple salad sides. I had to try the Plov ($10) which is a traditional Uzbek staple. It's a delicious combination of cumin-spiced rice, pieces of lean beef, garbanzo beans, shredded carrot and raisins with notes of garlic throughout. For what appears to be a simple-looking dish, I was astonished to find the rice so aromatic and packed with such bold flavors. I thought it could have used a little more beef and carrots, but nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I've also never experienced quicker food truck service as everything appears to be already pre-made and packed. Right after I ordered, the truck owner just reached into a heated chamber behind him and pulled out my rice. In less than two minutes, I had ordered, paid and received my lunch. Of course I always prefer for my food to be freshly made, but in this case, I don't believe it made any difference. If anything, it allowed the rice to absorb more of the spices! Thank you, Tabassum, for introducing Uzbek cuisine to myself and the Pacific Northwest! Seattleites, if you ever see this cute red truck in the area, be sure to stop by for a bite because who knows when the next opportunity will arise!

No cooking in large Mercedes van. Just delivery system for food cooked in central kitchen & held in hotboxes. 2 trucks/vans, so 2 locations

Three stars is A-OK, and that's what this food truck is. Tabassum is actually two trucks, and they are out at the same time in different locations. So, Uzbek food is good. In fact, it's delicious. But it's not rock your world with the best thing you ever ate good. It's just good. The pies are flaky on the outside and flavorful on the inside. They are served piping hot. I also had the beet salad, which is good but with an odd spicing combo that takes some getting used to. The food is not made in the trucks. The trucks are basically serving platforms for the food that's been made in a commissary kitchen and then kept hot in holding cabinets on the vans/trucks. The equipment is all modern (top end warming cabinets and new Mercedes vans), so there is obviously some money behind this business. Worth a try, but not something I would seek out again. (I say again because I went to the Bothell location--which was T-Mobile--and it was about as out of the way as you can get.) If you see the truck around, make a stop and try Uzbek food. But don't make a special trip just to try it.

Beef Samsa and Vegan Mushroom Samsa

We've been trying to take advantage of the Beverly Food Truck Park near us when we can. Tabassum is definitely one of our favorites so far! Their Samsas are so dang good! We got two Chicken Curry Samsas, a Beef Samsa, and a Mushroom Vegan Samsa the night we visited. They were way bigger than we were expecting when we opened the boxes! For only $5 each, these are a steal! They are full of meat and other fillings. Two were more than enough for each of us. When we got there, it was maybe 30 minutes before they closed so they were out of a few different things but I can absolutely see why. We're hoping we can visit again soon to try their Plov and desserts!

Tabassum is a new Uzbek food truck offering up samsas which are a popular dish in Uzbekistan. I tried out this truck recently when they were in attendance at a food truck event at the Fremont Sunday Market. Samsas are basically a puff pastry with filling and is like the Uzbek version of a meat pie. Tabassum offers up 5 samsa varieties, including a veggie and sweet option alongside the usual meat options. They also have a couple side salads available. On my visit to the truck, I ordered the beef samsa ($5) and a beet salad ($3). The samsa was good with a decent size filling of beef that was full of cumin flavor. And the beet salad was terrific. Beets were shredded up and served cold making for a refreshing end to my meal. I hope this truck does well so it will eventually lead to a Uzbek restaurant opening in the area. I have had home cooked Uzbek food before and enjoyed it. Particularly a rice dish called plov. I happened to check the truck's website and noticed in one of the posts that they served this very dish at one of their recent truck's stops. Hopefully it becomes a regular item on the menu, so I can give it a try.

I ordered the potato and spinach pie with beet salad. Both were good, but the beet salad was outstanding.

We were in Kirkland overnight on Easter for an early surgical appointment on Monday. After walking…read morearound to stretch our legs from the drive we ducked into Zeitoon Grill House for some Persian cuisine. Based on decor I wondered if it had been a pub or steakhouse once in its life: lots of paneled and coffered wood, chandeliers, and wooden booths with coat hangers. We started with the baba ghanouj and ordered the fesenjan and a beef kobideh for meals. The meals came with a salad to share rather than small individual salads on the plate which was a nice touch. The staff was able to provide some veggies with the baba ghanouj since my partner in crime can't have bread. The baba ghanouj was great - exactly the smoky eggplant flavor I was craving when I saw the sign for Persian cuisine. The kobideh was nice and tender - you could taste the onion. The fesenjan was also extremely good. One question: Who eats this much rice in one dish? The rice was very good - but it is a lot of rice. I haven't had Persian like this since we had Persian neighbors who invited us over.

The center area hosted a huge group with multiple tables pushed together. I have avoided Zeitoon all these years because they are higher cost, not necessarily justifiable since there are lower cost Persian foods or similar Mediterranean restaurants in the area. I finally decided to try them. Our server answered my questions, including his favorites. Two questionable/sketchy things happened: 1. Our server recommended the Mirza Ghasemi, which he said is great with the optional soft-boiled egg. Sounds good. We ordered it. The optional egg is $2, which is not identified on the menu. (See photo) 2. When he recommended the Mirza Ghasemi, we asked him to remove the Mast O Khiar which we initially chose. I said we only want one appetizer. He nodded and said OK. When the Mirza Ghasemi arrived, so did the Mast O Khiar. They put both on the table and immediately left. I flagged the original server to remind him we said to remove it, but a different person showed up instead. He: "You want to cancel this? No problem." and took the yogurt away. I did not order this; it is not me canceling. Minus 0.5 stars from overall rating. The Food: Mirza Ghasemi + egg, $14 +$2 - 2.5 Stars This eggplant dish is the one recommended by our server. We do enjoy eggplant dips, especially warm versions. The optional "soft boiled egg" is not an American version but tiny threads of yellow egg bits mixed within the eggplant mixture. Honestly, we cannot taste the egg. It is borderline a scam. This dish would be 3.5 stars if it was $14 at the menu price, which is already on the high side. A $16 eggplant dish is delusional. Lamb Shishlik Kebab, $36 - 3.5 Stars Menu: Lamb rack marinated and chargrilled (see menu photo) I knew I would not see a rack of lamb on my plate. I got four lamb chops. Meat quality wise, this is excellent. It comes with a ton of basmati rice and a salad with a refreshing light dressing. This is a bit spendy for the quantity of meat, but taste is good. Soltani Shishlik, $42 - 3.5 Stars This is the exact same dish as above except add a skewer of grounded beef kebab. This kebab, and I quote my hubby, is "not that good". Same comment for the rest of the dish. A basket of lavash bread arrived at the table. I believe it came with the Mirza Ghasemi. We have eaten many lavash breads, commonly used as wrap so it is grilled and/or heat-pressed with oil on the surface. These lavash breads are simply warmed. I learned they taste terrible that way. The surface has a sandpaper texture and still taste like sandpaper when eating it. If I paid for this separately, I would be upset.

Noon Café is a casual family diner offering traditional grilled kababs (aka kebab), appetizers, sandwiches, and pizzas - all Persian/Iranian style. The interior is basic, decorated with photos of Iranian landmarks (I assume). Currently, they have a memorial due to the ongoing war. (Peace to all...) Service is warm and friendly. Be sure to ask questions if the dish names are unfamiliar. The Food: Soltani, $32.99 - 4 Stars Soltani includes one skewer of Koobideh (ground beef) and one skew of Barg (flank steak). Both are well-seasoned with excellent flavor. We ordered the flank steak medium rare, but it was medium with no pink inside. The steak was tolerable, not as tender as it could have be. This dish was served with rice per the menu. After I saw another table has their kabab served with a bread, I asked the server. She said other than rice, there is a choice of Persian bread (flat bread with sesame) and salad. Curious that wasn't in the menu nor did she say it. Not a dealbreaker. Her reply did raise my eyebrow. Zaboon, $16.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Veal tongue, simmered and fried, tomato, pickles, parsley Based on the description, the texture completely threw me off. The meat is mushy to the point of spreadable. The flavor is light with minimum seasoning. I applied hot sauce liberally to the sandwich. Portion size is large. I ate only half. Fries, $6.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside Some pieces aren't crispy enough. Some pieces are too thick such that the inside has the potato gritty texture. The sauce is a house-created flavor. We like the sauce more than we like the fries. The food is closer to 3.5 Stars. I like the family vibe and am rounding up to 4 Stars for the overall rating.

When we realized we were at the wrong place, we informed the staff. They were incredibly polite and friendly and didn't show any irritation at all. A couple of months later, we returned to give it a try. We ordered the non-mixed grill, and it was absolutely delicious. The beef was cooked perfectly--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The chicken was also excellent. The rice was perfectly cooked, and when we added the butter, it tasted amazing. They also had a special Persian spice that elevated the flavor to another level. The service was warm and welcoming. Our server took the time to explain how Persian food is traditionally enjoyed and described the purpose of each ingredient. We followed his suggestions, and the experience was even more enjoyable. The ambiance was simple and modern, and the place was very clean and well maintained. Definitely a must-try.
