We have been coming to this shopping center on a regular basis for 10 years to get the delicious and fresh bread from the bakery here. Never once have we stepped foot in this place. And that maybe was a big miss. We tried the butter chicken, naan, the chana masala, and another chicken curry that I can't remember the name of. Like most Pakistani food, it was very rich, which honestly is a sign that they are taking great care to make the food luxurious. A few bites of each dish was enough to satisfy us. We thought the dishes were a bit expensive but they ended up lasting at least two meals. I had a little bit of leftover after the second meal to take to work, which I was quite happy to do. This was probably the best butter chicken any of us had ever tasted. So tasty and the chana masala was also above average. The wait staff was amazing. They helped answer all our questions and helped us differentiate between all the chai tea choices. I loved how authentic this restaurant felt. As I'm not from their culture I cannot say with certainty it is authentic but the food was certainly delicious. If you're looking for modern and shiny, this place isn't for you. They are going through renovations but it's obviously not an establish trying to impress by interior designs, but through your stomach. Everything was well seasoned. Stopped by Kabab House on a week night for dinner. There have alot of seating so getting a spot was not an issue. We ordered their chicken seekh kebab and goat biryani along with dum chai. The seekh kebab was flavorful but ive certainly had better. The goat biryani was delicious and the goat pieces would melt in your mouth and it was perfectly marinated meat. I ordered their dum chai but I guess I got the regular chai which tasted a little watered down but was still decent not bad. Now I will give them 10/10 for their service. So we had asked for spicy goat biryani but apparently they messed it up and made regular so the person stopped by informed us and said they are remaking the spicy goat biryani and would like to compensate for this slow service by offering dessert on the house. While it was not needed, it was certainly appreciated. They got us rasmalai which was good. I have been here before and felt the food during my prior visits was a tad bit better as compared to today. Been here multiple times - food has been consistently good. My go to is the Chicken Malai Boti and the Garlic Naan. Service is decent - I wish they would interact more than just taking the order and serving. They have recently undergone renovations and the space is much brighter with an open concept. I did notice on our visit a few weeks ago that the prices increased and now they charge for rice for the entrees when my dish used to come with rice. Honestly food was pretty good but service is terrible. I've come here a few times now and didn't mind the service until recently. I went on a Sunday morning for their Halwa special. We came here with a group of friends and everyone ordered the Halwa puri social and a few friends got other dishes like keema and nihari, and naan. This is where the service was absolutely terrible. One friend ordered nihari and naan as a to-go order, and another ordered nihari and naan for dine in. The servers brought one nihari out but 2 orders of naan. They accidentally put the to-go naan order on the dining table. So as we were eating the nihari we didn't notice there were 2 orders of naan because it was all in one basket and we didn't give it a second thought because the second naan order should've been packed with the to-go nihari order. So once my friend is done eating and asks for her to-go order, they don't give her the naan. So she asked why there's no naan and they go back and figure it out, and come back and say they put it on the table with the other naan and that you should take the 2 pieces that are left and pack it, and gave my friend foil. That was so rude and such terrible service. A order of naan is 4 pieces and even though they messed up the order they didn't make her more naan and made her take the 2 pieces that were left on the table, didn't even apologize for the mess up. The meat was a tiny bit dry, but the spices most definitely made up for that. The spice blend was wonderful and unique (to me). My wife and I both left disappointed and went somewhere else afterwards for a snack and dessert to end the day on a better note. We both got kabobs. One fish, one chicken. The prices were expensive for basic meat and salad (18, 22) so we thought there might be a good amount but ordered a Naan and and veg samosa anyway. Samosa, OK. Naan, OK. But when the food came I was surprised how small the chicken dish was. First of all, it was 8 tiny nuggets. Flavor wasn't bad but it was dry. The salad was a pile of raw onions with some tiny old tomato cubes. The fish size wasn't bad, not a great quality fish though and the same onions side. At least they could have put the kabob on the pile of onions for a little plating. Even when we were finishing no one said anything about the check. What an odd experience I had here. I ordered take out 20 min before I arrived, but it wasn't ready for another 25 once I got there. Then they told me that the tikka I ordered needed to marinade for another 45 minutes, asking if I would please choose an alternative dish. I did so. Then I saw the chef walk out of the kitchen, and to the Indian grocery across the parking lot to buy the naan I had ordered. The whole reason we had come was because I had a craving for samosa which was absolutely the worst part of the meal :( They were extremely bland and the pastry thick enough that it was hard to bite through. We did get butter paneer, butter chicken (rice with both), naan, and 2 samosa for $45 so at least it wasn't expensive after all that. The naan was good but I can't really owe that to the restaurant. Kabob House moved from Bridle Trails to Totem Square Shopping Mall in Totem Lake. Despite the low review count (6 including mine), they are in fact an established Pakistani restaurant in the area. Nonetheless, it's our first time trying their food. The family that owns the restaurant is very nice and amicable. The staff and service are very good. I thought the prices are reasonable, too. The Food: Nihari - Lamb Shank, $21.99 - 4.5 Stars Menu: This aromatic curry with meat tender melts in your mouth. We came partly because of the lamb shank on the menu. Hubby loves lamb shank. The meat is so tender they don't give you a knife. It easily comes off the bone. In fact, hubby fished many lamb pieces out of the curry sauce before working on the meats still attached to the bone. Before serving, I think they should skim-off some of the oil on top. Fish Tikka, $22.99 - 4.5 Stars Menu: Charcoal grilled fish tikka, served with green tikka sauce. Very well-seasoned and flavorful. Tastes good with tikka sauce. Chicken Tikka Boti (Bone-in), $15.99 - 4 Stars Menu: Bone-in chicken pieces marinated in ginger, garlic, yogurt, and Indian spices. This is the same preparation as the Fish Tikka. The bone-in is kind of random, with big and tiny pieces. Garlic Naan, $3.99 - 1.5 Stars Their garlic naan looks pretty, but it tastes just ok. It's not fluffy and kind of flat and doughy. I should have paid attention that being a Pakistani restaurant, they don't have tandoori items. That also means their naan might not be made from a tandoori oven. Subsequently, their naan don't have the typical char and the puff. I don't recommend this. Fries I ordered the Masala Fries, but I was told it's lunch time only. I pointed out it's on the appetizer menu, not on the lunch menu. He apologized and said he'll give me normal free fries. It came with some seasonings, but I doubt it's Masala Fries which is supposed to have garlic, onion, and tomato masala spices. It tastes good, though. We are not well versed in this type of cuisine and asked for help and suggestions, which were provided and welcomed. We started with the beef kabobs and they were amazing. I should have taken food photos, but when the hot and fresh butter Naan arrived, it was game on. We had a Mutton dish and a Goat dish as well with basmati rice and everything was really good. Recently moved from previous Kirkland location. Too bad the reviews didn't transfer. Everything is clean and new. The owner greeted us and took our order. They are short staffed right now so it was a little awkward ordering and they did forget one dish. The food was excellent with large portions. We took a lot home. The chicken tiki Marsala was served with two large pieces of chicken in the sauce instead of many chopped bits like some places. I think I prefer the larger pieces. They were definitely fresher. All of the food is made fresh from scratch. It's a large place with two banquet rooms large enough for 15 people. There are also several large circular tables that could sit 8 comfortably. One downside is they don't have a liquor license yet so no beer or wine or alcohol. We really liked the food and look for ward to trying other items. read more
