    Natti style Mutton Pulao
    Smrithi S.

We have been waiting for Shri Cafe to open, we have had their food at events they have catered and loved it. So excited to have a place that serves good South Indian snacks and food close to us. We've been here twice already and tried different items during our visits. Our first time, we got the vada combo, with 2 Medhu vada and 2 Masala vada, and Mangalore buns. We liked both the vada's and the Mangalore buns. They also gave us a couple of sweets since it was their opening week, they were both good. Our second visit, we got Banana bajji, Natti style Mutton Pulao, and Chicken Chops. The Banana bajji and Natti style Mutton Pulao were good, Banana bajji tasted like the bajji we got back in India. Chicken Chops was absolutely amazing, one of the best items I have had anywhere in the Seattle area.

Mild was actually mild unlike other places where it can still be spicy. I had the non-veg and friend had the veg. Both were excellent!! The butter chicken sauce is rice and creamy. Adds a chive and garlic flavor. It's also crunchy and so good. Love how creamy the chicken malai tikka is and with the lemon adding a zesty flavor. Butter chicken was very good too and also creamy. Love the chicken are smaller pieces too. I loved it with the garlic naan but it's also good with the regular naan too. I prefer the garlic naan since I also eat it by itself when I start feeling full. The rice pudding is a nice dessert and reminds me of champorado. I'm not too sure if there were pistachio chips in it like the description says but still good either way!! Very milky and soft. Perfect amount for three people with some left overs

We grabbed the Rajma Chawal and Chole Bhature for mains, they were decent enough to hit the spot. The snacks were where it got a little tricky. The Ram Ladoo and Kachori Chat tasted good, but they were barely lukewarm. Kind of a bummer since you really want those hot! On the flip side, the Lamb appetizer was incredible super soft and juicy. Definitely the star of the show. We finished with desserts and they totally saved the day. The Kulfi Falooda was 10/10, and the Shashi tukda was the perfect sweet finish.

The ambience was pleasant and lively, which set a nice tone for the meal. We started with the Kachori Chaat, which unfortunately was just average - not bad, but nothing memorable either. Next came the Butti Ka Murg, and this completely changed the experience. The chicken was juicy, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Easily the standout dish of the night - absolutely delicious. The Amritsari Kulcha was also excellent, with great stuffing and good taste. However, the chole served alongside it was just okay and didn't quite match the quality of the bread. Drinks were decent but nothing special. Overall, the food had some real highs and some middling items. We felt the pricing was on the higher side for the value and consistency offered. Would probably come back for specific dishes (especially the Butti Ka Murg), but not necessarily for a full meal.

The lamb shank was rich, tender, and packed with flavor (a little spicy, but that's on me--I'm a wimp ). Came here on a weekday evening, i think its new in a nice area so less crowd. Nobody was there when i went on Wednesday evening. I was offered to check the buffet which i did but i wanted only 1 dish. I ordered nihari and naan. The menu was on QR code so fancy of them. Nihari was meh, not great but it didnt have that taste of nihari or look. Naans were good, soft and fluffy , this place cut it into 4 pieces. Then for dessert i got gulab jamun and Chai. Gulab jamun presentation was fancy and had 3 pieces. And chai was a normal cup coulda been cooked a bit longer with milk . Gulab jamun was good, no complaints Idk if its a seattle thing, but everything is REALLY PRICEY up here. Chai one cup for 5.99 is just mindblowing. Down where i am from its 2.50 with free refills or only 1-2. Also nihari bieng like over $20 is just shocking. Maybe its how it is up here im not sure, but yes i hope this place improves on the nihari,

The thali was presented in a wonderfully traditional manner, which immediately set the tone for the experience. There were 16 different items, and everything tasted authentic and thoughtfully prepared. The stars of the meal for me were the Bajri Raab and the Ghewar--both absolutely outstanding. The service was courteous, and we thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. A couple of suggestions for improvement: when the thali is served, it would be helpful if the person presenting it could briefly explain each dish and perhaps suggest how certain items are traditionally paired or eaten. That would make the experience even more immersive, especially for those unfamiliar with Rajasthani cuisine. Also, the plate felt a bit small for the number of ramekins. There was very little room left for the rice, and the chutney and pickle kept sliding underneath the ramekins, making things a bit messy. A slightly larger plate would make the meal much more comfortable to enjoy. Finally, please continue hosting thali festivals featuring cuisines from different regions of India. That's a fantastic concept, and we'd love to return for more regional culinary experiences.

The food was absolutely incredible. I got a mango lassi and a paneer tikki masala dosa. The mango lassi was sweet, creamy, and had a subtle spice flavor. The dosa was a real showstopper. It came out quick and incredibly crispy, filled with tender chunks of paneer. The tikki masala flavor was perfect with the crispy lentil crepe, especially when dipped in the various chutneys. I'm unsure of what the chutneys/sauces are called, but they were so delicious. The cherry on top was meeting Pradish. We decided to come here early in the evening around 6 pm because it gets packed quickly. We got seated quickly but the restaurant fill up while we ate. Their menu is mainly kerala based. We got the pistachio rose lassi, the coconut lavender lemonade, the masala dosa, palakkad Avial, the nalla molagu chicken curry with some tandoori roti, garlic naan and Malabar paratha. The dosa and the palakkad Avial were the best of the lot. I am not a fan of banana in any form but banana in this vegetarian curry wasnt too bad. It tasted like Indian kadhi which I love. The chicken curry was runny and a bit disappointing. I wanted it to have more body, kick and more flavor. The breads are ok. The lassi was delicious but heavy. You could do without the pistachios pieces in it. The lavender coconut lemonade was nice. The curries came with rice, so the meal was filling for 4 people. Pricing wise, it was a little above the typical Indian restaurant prices. The ambiance is cute and casual. It has a slight cramped feel when it gets full, but overall, it isn't too bad. They have a decent open parking lot, which is convenient.

The food is usually delicious, and the service is usually fine, but there always seems to be something that throws off our dining experience here. For example, we dined in last Sunday for dinner, and were promptly seated. We ordered the garlic naan to share, and our vegetarian friend ordered the Paneer Makhni. However, when the dish arrived, she took a bite and discovered that there were chicken pieces inside, and when we alerted the server, we didn't even receive an apology. They took away her plate, which had some rice and garlic naan, and gave her a new plate with a new order of the Paneer Makhni, and did not replace the rice and garlic naan that was lost due to their mistake. I feel that giving a vegetarian or vegan person a dish with meat is a huge mistake, and I was very disappointed by the lack of an apology and the lack of an effort to make things right. On the happy side, the garlic naan was tasty, and I personally ordered a chicken kabob dish that was covered in sauce, which was phenomenal. Another example is that for 3 or 4 visits, we interacted with the same server. He always greeted us with "ni hao" even though we are not Chinese. Even worse, on multiple occasions, after we paid for the food with credit card, he would make up some lie about how the card reader was broken for the tip portion, and he would ask for a cash tip that he pocketed. We've never had this issue with any other server, and I've even seen this guy tell other groups the same lie about the card reader not working for the tip portion, even though it worked fine for the main payment. In summary, although Kanishka seems to have some food quality control issues, the food is delicious, and the service can be a wide range from very poor to good.
