It is a new place that is very clean with a simple, no-fancy layout that gives off a great, authentic Udupi vibe. Our server was super friendly, and we actually connected over sharing a similar background. Coming from Karnataka, it has been really tricky to find a good, authentic wada sambhar in the Seattle area. I crave it all the time, and I can confidently say this place serves the closest version to what we get back home! The masala dosa was equally good--not too thin, not too thick, and had the perfect crisp. I highly recommend getting the peanut chutney with it. The only slight letdown was the thali. I tried the chicken korma and chicken sukkha; the korma was just okay, and while the sukkha was good, it could have been better. My expectations were just incredibly high after tasting the amazing masala dosa and wada. That being said, my daughter absolutely loved the dosa, and overall, our family really enjoyed the meal. Unlike many Indian restaurants in this region that rely on overpowering spice levels, Shri Cafe focuses on balanced flavors. The food tastes homely, comforting, and genuinely authentic. Their akki rotti instantly reminded me of the ones I have back home, and their coconut chutney is absolutely spot on. The chutney is fresh, flavorful, and free of unnecessary filler ingredients. Everything I have tried on the menu has been good. The idlis are fluffy and airy, and the vadas are perfectly cooked with a crisp exterior. I have also tried their meal combos, which offer great value for money. The chapatis are cooked just right without excess oil, and the curries are gentle on the stomach with well-judged spices that can easily please both Indian and non‑Indian palates. The café does get busy during peak hours and has limited seating, so takeout is often the best option. A nice extra touch is that all their to‑go containers are compostable, which is very commendable. My only minor complaint is about the non‑veg curries in the meal combos. I have had the meal combo twice, and while they use bone‑in meat (which does enhance flavor), the portions were quite small and more than half of what I received was bone. Both the chicken ghee roast and mutton roast tasted great but had very little actual meat. That said, I am still giving Shri Cafe a full 5 stars because the food quality and authenticity truly stand out. I hope they fine‑tune the portions for the non‑veg curries, but even if not, the veg meal combo is equally delicious and satisfying. Overall, this is an excellent spot for authentic South Indian comfort food, and I will definitely keep coming back.

We thought the dishes were a bit expensive but they ended up lasting at least two meals. I had a little bit of leftover after the second meal to take to work, which I was quite happy to do. The Thali, however, was strictly average. If you decide to visit, I suggest sticking to the chaat items, since from experience, it has been consistently good. I also recommend the paav bhaji. The Gobi 65 was a little too dry for me, although it was very crispy and almost more like a pakoda. The Mysore masala dosa was just okay. The dosa itself was excellent, but the masala could have been more flavorful--and there was surprisingly little masala for such a huge dosa. The burnt garlic noodles were probably my least favorite. They tasted like fairly standard Indo-Chinese noodles, and I really didn't get much of that burnt garlic flavor I was expecting. But the parotta with egg pepper curry was the winner. Spicy, flavorful and SO good. Definitely my favorite thing we ordered. And the mango lassi was exactly what a mango lassi should be. No complaints there. Service was quick and courteous, and despite a few dishes that didn't quite wow us, there was enough good food here to make me glad we finally stopped in. I did however notice how most of their attention was towards their regulars (giving them a benefit of doubt) which happened to be anyone that wasn't Indian/brown. We had zero check ins during our meal but there was a couple right next to us and almost every server there, and another family that had all their attention. Place- it can get a bit crowded and feel like the tables are set a little too close together. Overall, come for food.
