ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE: NEVER TRUST GEEK SQUAD WITH IPHONE REPAIRS…read more Even though they are an authorized Apple service provider, dealing with the Geek Squad at this Vacaville location for an iPhone warranty repair has been an incredibly frustrating, incompetent mess from start to finish. I dropped my phone off on 8/16. I had already completed all advanced troubleshooting myself (restore and DFU mode) to fix a boot loop unsuccessfully. The Geek Squad agent, Abraham, couldn't get it to work either, so he determined the device needed to be shipped to an Apple service center. He did warn me that the turnaround would be 3-5 business days and that all my data would be wiped. If I could do it all over again, I would have walked out right then and gone straight to an official Apple Store. Why? For starters, Geek Squad does absolutely nothing except act as a useless middleman to ship your phone away. Unlike an actual Apple Store, Best Buy doesn't provide a loaner device, which left me digitally stranded without a phone for a full 10 days. Had I known they were just going to mail it out and let it drag on, I would have handled the shipping to the service center myself to avoid this massive delay and inconvenience. Instead of the promised 3-5 business days, the process took a full 10 days. According to official carrier tracking, the repaired phone was physically delivered back to the store and signed for by a Best Buy employee named Roman on 8/24 at 10:29 AM. Yet, when I went to the store two days later, they claimed they didn't have it. They tried to give me the runaround, making up nonsense excuses about needing to call Apple and have them provide a "new serial number". After I spent hours trying to call the store (Best Buy does not route any of the calls to the actual store), and escalated the issue to Apple Support to demand accountability, the store finally called me back with an excuse claiming the phone was "misdelivered to the PetSmart next door." Absolute BS. A courier doesn't drop off a secure, signature-required Apple service shipment at a pet store. They clearly just misplaced it in their own house and lied to cover up their internal tracking mess. To top it off, Apple swapped out the logic board, so my data is completely gone. At least that is one thing I can't blame the store for, but definetly some poopy icing on an already decaying cake. Geek Squad's internal logistics are a total joke, their communication is nonexistent, and their customer service is built entirely on excuses. Save yourself the massive headache and go straight to an actual Apple Store or handle the mail-in process yourself directly. Best Buy repairs plain suck, and I am staying away from Geek Squad for good.

When I initially called I got Nick on the phone, he told me that they do offer U-Verse in the store and that they could match or beat anything that was available online. I went into the store later that afternoon with my two boys and Nick was there to help me out. I told him what I was looking to get, and he suggested different options to ensure I would be getting exactly what I wanted. Everything we saw online, he matched without a problem. Nick was very patient with me as I was letting my other little boy (1) stretch his legs and explore around a little and I had to excuse myself to loop him back around to keep close by, he even told me that my other kiddo could play the games on their display iPad's. Ultimately we got everything signed up, but the next available install wasn't for another two weeks. The kiddo's were ready to go and there as nothing else we could do at that time regarding the late install date, yet Nick told me that he will make a call to see if they can expedite it at all. Nick told got in touch with me a short time after i left and told me that changes couldn't be made within 24 hours of set up, and that he will try again the next day, and asked what time of day I would prefer. The customer service we received today was something that you can't get online, or over the phone. I got to the store around 10:30 this morning, picked up my phone, and returned home to do the transfer. After 3 attempts, I couldn't get the phone to transfer and neither of the phones had service. I went back to this location, which is about 20-25 minutes away and It took an hour and a half for the sales associate to realize that I was given the wrong phone and that is why it could not be activated or transferred. Whoever processed my order the night before bagged up my order, attached my receipt, and yet today's associates completely missed it and was trying to activate a phone that didn't belong to my order. At no point did anyone confirm if the SIM cards matched the order nor did they scan the phone to begin with. Even after that fiasco, it took another hour to transfer everything and at no point in the 2.5 hours did a manager step in to try to assist or even offer an apology for the crazy long wait. This location is full of young employees and incompetent leadership. There's a real lacking of understanding when it comes to customer service. Next time, I'll drive to Vacaville.
