This involved taking down the fence around the post, and removing the concrete bottom and failing post. Turned out that the culprit was termites invading from the bottom of the post and weakening it. Apparently the concrete bottom did not cover the bottom of the post.

His estimate was reasonable, removal of the old asphalt was quick and neat. He fit us in between bigger jobs and laid new asphalt, being careful of our existing plants and rock work. Job came in at estimate and the new, smooth surface really made a difference for my disabled dad. This week, after texting James, l got the driveway sealed. Care was taken to clean the surface, fill superficial cracks from tree roots and the new seal makes it look like new. Again, care was taken not to splash the rock work, no runs, no street stains, very professional. A local business you can trust.

We appreciate that we all worked together despite our conflicts. In addition, our driveway and upper parking spot imposed a tight compound slope concern, but James tackled that problem very astutely. His words were "I know how to make water go where I want it to go." So he does.

Good communication, he showed up early and got it all done in one day. I didn't realize how out of level the existing slab was but he was able to accommodate and the section he poured was perfectly level. I did however end up renting a scarifier to bring down some parts 3/4" and grinding that smooth. In hindsight, I should have had Joe and his crew initially work it down like that from the start. But I guess in the moment it was too rushed to figure out the ideal compromise. The concrete delivery truck did come up short. He had to go and get bags to hand mix. That wasn't ideal since I was going off a spec sheet that said no hand mix. Overall it was an enjoyable little project and Joe and his crew did an excellent job. Can't wait to put the slab to use!

Black Diamond certainly does a lot more marketing, but we didn't see any difference in the proposed work to justify paying that much more. The pavers and borders came out great, and the finished work has made a noticeable difference to the front of our house. If you're getting quotes for a paver project, I'd definitely recommend getting a quote from them. Good quality work, reasonable pricing, finished ahead of schedule, and no mess left behind.
