Now THIS, the Bowie location, is a NICE TJ Maxx! They have a great selection of the clothes I look for. I wasn't trying to spend a lot of money (which is easy in a TJ Maxx), so I perused the aisles a bit before heading to the men's section for shorts & shirts. To my surprise I found a lot of nice selections! I took 6 items to the dressing room to try on, and the woman there was very friendly! AND, I left with all 6 items! WINNING. I did notice they didn't have a very large selection of furniture, but I can't even recall a furniture purchase I've made at a TJ Maxx. I just like to look at what they have to get ideas. Checkout was quick. I once again declined to offer to 'save 10% on my purchase,' but it wasn't a problem. Most of the staff is friendly but upon checking out the older Indian cashier did not bag our items even though she bagged the people before us. She handed my boyfriend the bag for him to bag it himself and watched him bag them. Don't know why this is but i feel like everyone should be treated equally. read more

They have great selectIons with higher end designers in the jewelry section. They also have a nice selection of clothes and shoes. I love this location! Far more selections than others closer to my house. I came today to make a return, it was difficult to not shop, but I stuck to my guns! Or whatever that saying is. This review is based on my experience with the young lady who processed my return. She didn't appear happy to be working and said out loud "ugh, where does this line keep coming from?!" So I said, it's Saturday, people are out shopping. She then says "people should be home with their families." This may sound like a trivial interaction, however her obvious disgust with customers and aggravation for having to work was uncomfortable for me as a customer. Sis, you work at one of the most popular discount retail stores, this is the weekend and we are in Bowie. How on earth are you so visibly shaken by the fact their is a line? We all have bad days, but I'm wondering why she thought it was appropriate to express her concerns with a paying customer. Her hands were moving, her face was grimaced and her tone was attitudinal. This TJ Maxx is definitely limited and pretty scarce in selection of their clothing, beauty products, home decor, and pet supplies. Due to it being after (several) holidays, there were random shelves of clearance items, but the items were either broken, opened, used, and/or had parts of the product missing. Also, I found it kind of odd that the beauty section transitioned right into kitchen utensils! I found a wholesome organic salmon stick pack for my pup, in which she'll be very pleased about - it was amazing to find this as it's usually sold out at most pet boutiques! I was checking out earlier today and this cashier was EXTREMELY RUDE! I noticed she greeted everyone who was african american with a smile at the checkout, and totally dropped any kind gesture as SOON as I approached the register. Upon checking out, I had asked her how she was doing and she didn't say a word! I gave it a couple of seconds as she was bagging my items and she clinged my items together upon checkout, and I asked her if the ban on plastic bags applied to the TJ MAXX store considering a lot of stores are pulling out of plastic bags, and she COMPLETELY ignored me and had the WORST attitude imaginable!!! So I didn't say anything further and as I was handed my receipt she began to mumble something under her breath as I walked away, and I said "do you have something to say?" because I genuinely wanted to know what her problem was. I showed her no anger upon approaching the counter and all I wanted was just to shop at T J MAXX happily. After I asked her if she had something to say because of the blatant disrespect she was showing me.. she cowered away and then began treating black customers nice again as I pushed my cart back into cart rack. Recently checked out this TJ maxx after their reopening after the covid shutdown. I am so relieved this location has reopened because it's closest to me. I often get beauty supplies/bathroom and kitchen supplies from here, but I haven't delved into their clothing selection or shoes etc. If you need some nice hand soap and scented candle for your bathroom, this is the spot. Want a good quality sulfate-free shampoo and need a new hairbrush? They got that too. I love that I can get department store goods here for less. They have recently remodeled and stocked fully, the store is clean and looks much nicer now as they have wood lookin floors rather than all linoleum. I never go to ross next door anymore as this tj maxx has stepped up their game. read more

I'm not a big fan of "searching" for anything, which is why I go to department stores where things aren't crammed into a space and you're expected to search through the items. I like order, otherwise I'm turned completely off! However, this T.J. Maxx location is always nicely kept. I never look through their clothes, with exception to the mens shirts, (because again, I don't have the patience to search through the 85 racks for a "deal") so I can't really comment on that, but the housewares and shoes areas are usually very well organized. As with all discount stores, it's a hit or miss store, because they get daily shipments (except weekends) so if you see something you like...GRAB IT! This location carries a few furniture items and I've purchased some awesome picture frames and portraits from here. Lately, I haven't stumbled onto anything that really excited me, but I don't go as often as I use too. It's a clean location (for a T.J. Maxx) and a good place to stroll when you have time. Only complaint is the staff....umm, some of them aren't so friendly. read more

I decided to go inside tj maxx when I couldn't find anything inside of the Ross next door. Staff was very friendly. Especially at the jewelry counter and the cashier Randee. The only thing I didn't like was the unbelievable amount of broken/ incomplete pieces being sold at full price. About half of the jewelry sets are missing pieces and still on display for full price. Manager claims they do not mark down jewelry even if they are missing half of the set. Other items such as bags and sets are incomplete for some strange reason. I'm sure customers may be the blame for that. However, they should do a better job at clearing out or marking down broken/incomplete items. To make space for complete/unbroken items. That way the store doesn't look so determined to sell racks and tables full of unacceptable items at full price. Other than that staff is friendly. The store and management are just very nonchalant about keeping the store presentable with presentable merchandise. read more

Even though we live in a paperless world, receipts are still necessary at some retailers... I purchased a defective charging cord and didn't bother keeping the receipt or the packaging. I recently was I'm the Annapolis store and found a Kipling bag with no monkey. I asked if the would take off and the would not take anything additional. The manager said "it might have had the monkey key chain on it". If you know anything about Kipling bags, all Kipling bags hava a monkey key chains. The manager Mary (M. B. Frye) is VERY rude, ignorant and sarcastic. She turns you off from shopping here. She isn't a pleasant manager to deal with at all and I would hate to work under her. She is mean, don't want to help the customer out. A customer asked for a manager when she came out she asked "Why did you asked for me?" The customer said I didn't ask for you by name I just said a manager in general she said oh okay and walked off. VERY unprofessional that is not what you do in a Managerial position. read more

I went into tj maxx in Bowie to simply get a decent flat iron. I found one I liked for a good buy $69...so I bought it. In the car I opened the box to see if all the contents were inside, particularly the free keratin treatment oil inside. It wasn't in there so I went back inside hoping to get a discount or maybe A trial sized keratin oil..but when the manager with the badge c.curry came out she told me I was s.o.l. Pretty much...and I asked even after spending that much money I can't get anything for it...she said no again. He attitude was not one of a helpful nature, I used to work in retail and the goal is to make the customer happy...I didnt leave happy and I returned the faulty product thusly leaving with frizzy hair and anticipation on getting my rebate back to my credit card. No bueno. The two stars are for the cleanliness of the store and the fitting room attendant who was very kind. read more
