I'm definitely a fan of Gabes. I first heard about them from a coworker. She had on the cutest dress and she told me that's where she bought it from. Prices are very reasonable here. This is a one-stop store. With clothing, household products, kitchen products, household furniture including outdoor chairs. I have purchased a jacket for my husband. My king size sheets were priced at $25.00. So I bought two. I love them and the feel of them. Certain sheets make me sweat and I haven't had a problem with these. Gabe's has a little bit of everything. Including scrubs if you're into Healthcare. One of my favorite stores now with excellent prices. Don't forget to join the awards club. You get a $5.00 coupon for your birthday and everytime you reach the points level. I simply love this place! Nice stands as well. Glad I moved closer to a gabe's. Was asked if I wanted to buy a bag for my purchases or carry them without bag. Then paid in cash and sell was rounded up so my change contained no pennies I have to wonder where is this extra change going. Will not shop there again now never had much luck stores are always junky and poor quality. read more

I realize this is a value store, however it seems Like there were more clothes with holes, stains and imperfections than not. The dressing room was dirty and there were no employees. They ask you to ring a bell and wait. Sometimes someone comes if they are close enough to hear it. And is shame because I found a couple of things for my new place that were reasonably priced But then I get to the checkout line at 2 PM on a Saturday which I'm guessing is probably their busiest shopping time and there are from what I counted 29 to 32 people in line. I move from one 6 foot checkpoint to the other every three minutes. That's unacceptable. You should have more checkers on a Saturday or at least fast checkers. Do I really need these 2 items To stand in line for 30 minutes???? I'm sorry for not purchasing here but I've got a lot to do on a Saturday. The Glen Burnie location is big and filled with lots of merchandise. The lack of organization and customer time spent waiting in line is a big downer. From what I know about Gabe's, is they sell discount clothing and goods that may be deemed irregular or defective by the manufacturer or label company. I came here to shop because I was looking for some particular items for a Halloween costume. I didn't really care that they didn't look perfect. Gabe's did come through and I found this tan men's work top but let me tell you when this shirt was the stiffest of stiff. That shirt was soooo starched that it could walk out of the store on it's own. I washed it so many times and that thing is still stiff. It was funny. Another plus on this store is I found some really nice Mason jars with sealed tops. The type you can store pasta or flour in. The price was affordable. On to the so-so part about Gabe's. The store is really disorganized and stuff is just all over the place. You really have to be in the mood to dig and hunt. The biggest negative on this store is the line. No matter the time or day.... they have a line. The line has a long wait. So long there are times I contemplate dropping my stuff and walking out. It's really frustrating. read more

Stopped going to Gabes when they stopped allowing carts to be taken outside. complained to the store and the company about it being hard for an elderly person who used a walking aid to carry things outside and impossible to carry heavier things. They didn't care. They were more interested in keeping their baskets safe than in the customer. I offered other suggestions like helping the customer out or they could do like other companies and diable the cart when they were out of the perimeter, but no it's easier to deny the customer the use of the cart. It's a shame because I did shop there weekly. read more

NEVER return merchantise to any store and expect your money returned. It is better to ask cashier for a store credit and recieve a plastic card with credit. Although it is highly illegal, Gabe keeps your money!!!! This has happened to me THREE TIMES and I have finally learned my lesson. Customer Service at Gabes Corporate office is IMPOSSIBLE to reach. I was on hold for a long time and then put into a voice mail and no one returned my call. I tried twice to submit an email using the Gabes form on their website and, oh wow, what a shock, the email "failed to sent." Be careful with your money because although Gabes has low prices, they are an unethical, fraudulent company!!!! read more

Two stars for the prices and the cashiers. Unfortunately, this store gets dumpier every year. What a mess. I've seen thrift stores with better organized racks/shelves. Saw this place the other day, and was curious what it was. I never expected for it to be a department store but i'm kind of glad it was. After reading a few reviews I got the chance to finally check it out. I have to say that I was impressed. They have a decent selection of clothing for men, woman, and children. They also have a decent selection of brand name shoes that are way below suggested retail price. For the most part the store is pretty well maintained, and the staff was very friendly. We ended up starting our christmas shopping here, and found a lot of good toys for dirt cheap. I'm very happy to have found this location, and i'm sure that I will be returning to get more shopping done. read more

I like gabes for something and some times it's hit or missed I visited plenty of gabes but the most is Glen burnie they not as friendly the store is always a mess I'm always picking stuff up off the floor instead of shopping. the staffing act really ghetto and the foul language they use talking about the night before or wat there doing that night always have one too two registers open even before Covid hit us. The people who complain about how disorganized or mess this store is, obviously never have been to Gabes, or any other discount store for that matter. I usually drive to the one in York because they have a great selection (and because I honestly didn't know this location existed), but saw how close this was to Baltimore and made the drive. Maybe the store was so organized and clean because it was a random Wednesday night, but my goodness, it was an easy shopping experience. When I go to Gabe's, usually I am prepared to sift though racks and have tons of patience stored up. Yes, you will have to go through racks, but you will be rewarded with awesome deals. My son has to wear a tie for school, and of course he manages to spill lunch on them (which if you wear ties, you know this renders them useless), so we love the deals at Gabes. The staff was friendly and engaging, from the sales associates to the cashiers. Several of the associates pushed me towards the racks that held great deals for what I wanted and we chatted about all the fun stuff they had. read more

We shopped here the first week it opened and we were not very impressed. The quality and selection of clothing merchandise was subpar relative to the prices. I only saw one item I really liked in the Mens Department and that was really it. I sensed I was shopping at a store marketing 'fashion throwaways". My wife was not overwhelmed herself. When I saw her searching for me after shopping separately for about 15 minutes, I got the "hint". We may check it out again to "give it another chance" . While Gabes is smaller than Gabriel Brothers, deals can be found. The mens department is so so. Having lived in Virginia, I was used to Gabriel Brothers in Winchester. Love love that store. Found a pair of boots, good price. Wait in extremely long line. Register had an issue & ate my receipt. Clerk could not print another receipt so she got a manager who couldn't reprint either. She got another person involved. No one was able to print my receipt so I asked for my money back. This was another major issue. By the time I got my money back & was able leave the store there were easily 40 people in line. Worst experience I've ever had. Managers have no clue what they are doing. I have shopped the Garner NC Gabe's since it opened. There is one manager there, a man, who is nice and knows what he is doing, the rest, forget it. I am a regular customer and have put up with being charged twice for one item, TWICE. I had to go back to the store (40miles one way) to get my credit, the other time I checked my receipt before leaving and had to get back in the long line to get the refund to my CC. Two weeks ago I returned an item and was not given my receipt back. This week I went to return a dress that shed like a dog all over my sofa, car, etc. I had worn once, no tag and no receipt. The Mexican manager named Rosey was rude and could have cared less. The cashier who was helping me even suggested I call corp which I did and they were ZERO help. The Corp office told me to take pixs of the dress and email which I did and what a waste of my time! Bottom line, the stuff is cheap, but as they say you get what you pay for. I will shop somewhere else and not have to put up with hearing the F bomb by underpaid employees grumbling about work out in the open with customers around!!!! Nuff is Nuff, maybe others will also shop other places and the Corp office will see the problem and fix it. I have shopped at Gabriel Brothers a.k.a. GABES since 2001 at the location near exit 77 off 95N! Now there is a location much closer to my office and I love shopping here! I scored a Jones of NY sweater coat for $7.99, men's Sperry boat shoes for $16 and runners (2'x8') for my living room for $15! The prices are super cheap for brand name items and Gabe's is by far less expensive than TJX or Marshall's! Just inspect the items at Gabe's as discount stores do sell items with small imperfections. The team is very polite and I encourage checking out Gabe's before going to Home Goods. Discount stores are hit or miss so keep checking in if you haven't been successful, eventually you will score at Gabe's! read more

When you call nobody answers the way they should, they just say "Hello" like it's an house phone, so unprofessional and tacky. When I applied for a pt job I was told that they really needed people. I was hired but I had to wait for my background check to come in. I was told I would get a call back, I waited a week, no call. So I called them only to find out that the lady who interviewed me {Kenya} went on vacation! So I said whatever, and asked about the status of my background check,I got put on hold and eventually I was hung up on. I called them for days and I kept getting the same treatment till finally,I spoke to someone named Charles. He answered the phone like he had some sense. I explained to him my situation and he took down my name and number and said he would look into it and give me a call, he never did. So yesterday, I called again and asked to speak to Kenya again and she was back. She told me everything was good and I could come in the next day at 10am to fill out my paperwork. I got a couple of other calls that day for other interviews and I forgot what time she said. So I called to confirm, I was of course greeted with a rude "Hello" and was told that Kenya was not in today and that she wouldn't be in at all, but I could come in at anytime. I wished I would've asked for the rude girls name, but then again I feel she should have stated it when she answered the phone. So I show up at 11:45 thinking everything was okay, When I arrived the girl at the register called Kenya who {SURPRISE} was in today! Kenya came out with an attitude and stated that shed been in all day and she even stayed a little late. I explained to her what I was told by the girl who answered the phone but she obviously thought I was lying since I couldn't give her a name. She told me that punctuality was a must and she didn't want to go forward with the process. I almost laughed in her face! I'm kinda glad she didn't hire me, they proved to me that they were unorganized and had no clue about customer service. I think I would've been the only one there with some sense and class. This store is very close and convenient to my house. The variety of merchandise they have is always changing and I can appreciate that. It's almost like a treasure hunt I always leave there with something I love. I also never feel bad when I leave there because I never spend too much money. You get a lot of bang for your buck even if you have to dig to find it.
