This Kohl's is clutch. Had a wedding to attend and at the last minute hated what I had to wear and decided to give Kohl's a try. FYI: if paying your bill here even after swiping your card they cannot see your balance. So you need to know the exact amount of your bill or you have to bring the bill with you if paying in full. This was my first time at this Kohls. I was making an online return and waited in a short line for about ten mins. It was early in the morning pre Christmas and one person was doing returns. By the time he finished with me the line had grown dramatically. I'm not sure if they just need to hire more people or folks just didn't come to work, but extra bodies were definitely need. To the young man handling the returns, he did so with a smile on his face, he was polite, and working as quickly as possible. On the way out I noticed their holiday wear was on sale and I had Kohls cash. I couldn't leave with the black velour Rudolph overalls. Let me tell you they're super soft, warm, and cute. Checkout was rather quick as they had enough associates. All in all, I had a good experience and if I need to go to Kohl's and I'm in the area I wouldn't hesitate to return. read more

Long story short, I will drive an extra 20 minutes just to avoid this place. WHY: Imagine a huge store that targets bargain shoppers and mass purchasing but refuses to have adequate carts to carry around your purchases. Expect to find 4 to 5 people waiting at the door or looking around the lot to find someone about to be finished using one. The lines are always long and trying to carry your stuff in the line thas stretch through a quarter of the store is annoying. This happened 3 of the 3 separate times I have been here! I don't do 1 star lightly but avoid this place if you can. I complained to the manage but was told they requested and corporate has not sent any. I like shopping at Kohl's in person and online. I've come to this location several times in the past because it's so close to me. Let me start with the positives. Pros: 1. Clean areas 2. Friendly cashiers and service members 3. Clean bathroom 4. Good sales Cons: 1. Never any clothes and not a good selection in my daughter's size 10 and up in girls 2. Same for the above in shoes 3. Changing rooms are overfilled with clothes to be put away. (Corporate could work to hire more folks to help) 4. Layout changed which seems funky. For example, the jewelry is near the changing rooms. The Severna Park Kohls has a bigger selection of girl clothing and I wish the Severn location would too. read more

I mostly visit this store for amazon returns. Most of the time it is simply wait a few minutes or walk right up. Yesterday (7/25) was a completely different experience. When I started in the line there were maybe 7 people. I'm pretty sure there were more people in the amazon return line than the rest of the store and only 1 person helping. A few workers were standing nearby and one asked the other person to pitch in to help the line move. They did while the original person WALKED AWAY! Maybe for a much needed bathroom break, who knows!? Anyway, the replacement takes care of 3-4 people and then the original person returns. By this point the line is probably 15 deep with us about 3 or 4 from the front. I think "great, with 2 people things will start to move along more quickly". The replacement associate wanders off as the line continues to grow. My returns go smoothly and we head off after about a 20-25 minute wait. By this point there are 20+ people and the line stretches a good distance away from the return stand. As I'm walking out I notice several cashiers at the front of the store standing around with nothing to do. read more

Most disturbing shopping and customer service experience of my lifetime occurred at the Kohls George Clauss location in Glen Burnie. We tried to purchase an item with no bar code or price. The item was a child's book which probably retailed for under $5. Instead of offer to find a means to sell the book the person at the front said it was not for sale and was going to be put into lost and found. This upset our child who wished to purchase the book. The person at the front claimed to be the store manager, however he looked and more like loss prevention because he had no name badge or store identification visible. He took an extremely aggressive tone when I asked to figure out a way to sell the book. Then anything I said to him he retorted back in a loud and threatening manner to the point we did not feel safe in his presence. I asked him his name and he refused to answer and just continued to verbally berate me. I expect to be contacted by this location management within 72 hours or I will pursue legal action. I highly recommend anyone shopping at this location to exercise caution because this location is not safe. read more

Parking under a tree toward the center of the lot (just to get in the extra steps) I walked to the beige building with a goal in mind: slacks to match my suit jacket and a blouse. I also needed a scarf because I was suffering from major frizz. Given the time restraint I had to act quickly. I found a top with that interesting "jewelry already attached" motif. Hey, why not save two birds with one prayer. A few other pieces on clearance grabbed my attention so I picked those up as well. After pacing back and forth for some time I eventually got the attention of a worker and asked for the area with the suit separates. I followed her instructions and wandered a bit until I found what I was looking for. Two items down, yay me! Another worker pointed me towards accessories to find my scarf and that was it! All items with time to spare! Heading over to the cash register I was greeted immediately. I thought this was great since a store in the early morning with few customers can sometimes be inattentive and unnecessarily time consuming. All my items rang except the scarf with no tag and the cashier walkied to have some price check. This is where I introduce my grievances... Standing at the register I advised that cashier that I would like to use the restroom to put on the clothes that I am purchasing (so I don't have to go back to the hotel or change in the car). He said I couldn't do it; that security would not allow it, apparently,because of shoplifting.... Mkay, but I'm paying right this moment, for the clothes I'm taking in there. Okay, how about the dressing room where your team can count the garments? That's a no-go as well? Interesting. I then asked if there was a place nearby, a McDonalds perhaps, that I could visit to use their bathroom... The cashier actually tells me that No Stores In The Area will allow me to change my clothes in their restroom "for strict security reasons" I said "ok, thanks" The worker returned with another scarf, comparable in appearance but not the same and the cashier rang my last item. I will add here that he did not mention the price nor did he direct me to look at anything that displayed the price but had I not been so off put by the previous exchange I would have thought to look myself. After telling me my total, he asked if I had the store card. I replied no and stuck out my credit card. He advised that if I applied for the card I could receive a discount off my total. I declined. He asked again, emphasizing the benefits of the card and, again, the discount. I declined. He went on to ask and explain 3 more times, to the point where i actually had to switch hands to extend my credit card. He then told me that I needed to walk over to the credit card machine at the OTHER register....really? You been pushing this damn store card on me for a full minute with my hand extended and only now tell me I can swipe it...."over there" Not that this matters but I do not and will not let everybody run my credit, soft pull or hard pull. Kohls in general has a fantastic savings program stacking sales and discounts, cash back and rebates which make shopping here easy. I don't think it's necessary (for me) to put these small purchases on credit. That's my choice so calm that annoying car salesman crap down. Back at my car I realized there was a Walmart immediately across the street so I drove over and parked by "outdoors," farthest to the right. I asked the first worker Issa about the nearest restroom. Of course since the clock is ticking on my work event the bathroom was allllllll the way on the other side of the store. I walked through the toy area to the pickup counter where two employees, a manager and a worker were speaking just beyond the entrance. Once I had the young lady's attention I advised that I had just purchased clothes from kohls across the street and needed a restroom to change in. Guess what? She said "that's fine!" After being made to feel that noone in their right mind could fathom a scenario where a receipt would justify a purchase and use of a facilities restrooms, of all places, Walmart saves the day! When I exited the surprisingly clean Walmart bathroom, I wasn't stopped, frisked, patted down, wander, or any other TSA tactic. Actually there wasn't even a worker standing in the area, nor was there an officer waiting to tackle me at the store metal detectors. I understand security, but I also understand customer satisfaction and common courtesy. Sometimes a person just needs a place to put their damn pants on, and after spending nearly $200 bucks in under 15 minutes you would think it wouldn't have been a hard way to go. Thumbs down to this particular Kohls. I'll definitely go elsewhere for future. read more

I normally like shopping at this kohl's but they need to step up their customer service. I went in the other day to buy some shoes and there was this younger looking cashier there. Now I'm in my 20s and I've worked many jobs in the customer service based fields so I know good service when I see it. This ain't it. She didn't greet me, didn't ask if I found everything I was looking for, was smacking her gum, was rushing me through even though there wasn't even a line!!! Just made a return to Kohls this week and encountered an employee at customer service who was so busy talking about customers she didn't handle my return the correct way. It started when I was looking at some earbuds before I went to Do my return but all I heard was this lady talking about how rude and nasty the customers are. It put me in an odd spot as I was doing a shoe return that I have worn but the sole was coming off. I just knew she would be talking about me. It kept eating at me so upon arriving home I looked up the employee which wasn't hard given that they tell you they work for Kohls. I generally have good experiences at Kohl's, but last nights experience really has me questioning how they choose who they hire. They have extended hours due to the holiday, my son & I arrived at 8:30pm and shopped. Most of the people on the floor I encounter were helpful & friendly. Toward the end of the night they made the 15 min before closing announcement at which point I made a be line for the restroom. I left my son by the cart with our stuff, as I walked away and woman approached him and said "what are you doing" to which he said "Nothing?" .. I turned back around to see what the problem was and the woman walked away. My son was sitting on the floor next to the cart waiting for me, nothing that warranted her invasive question. Then, I walked to the registers by the shoes just as I approached the woman there walked away. I waited a few minutes to see if she would come back, a man then approached and said "we are closed." So I made my way around to the other side and as I approached the cashier nodded at me at which time the store manager turned and looked at me (The same woman who rudely questioned my son) and then turned back to the cashier and said "Nope, close out" and the cashier proceeded to chuckle at the fact that she didn't have to help me. The manger then walked over to the door to lock up and grumbling about how she "Ain't doing this shit" and proceeded to glare at me with the ugliest facial expression... you would have thought I killed her child or something. I then went to the only other register open (Cashier Brenda was nice) the rude manager proceeded to stand behind my son and I as another woman approached and they continued on making comments about us, pointing and staring like she wanted to hit me. Then a final announcement went off that said "We are now closed" and affirmed that attitude was because I was ringing out right at closing despite that fact it wasn't my fault. It would be great if someone there would check the camera's to confirm my story and see just how RUDE that manager is. I won't be returning to this Kohl's until they hire someone competent enough to managing the store in a professional and courteous manner. If they would have been more worried about checking me out the right way instead of talking smack about their customers and watching the clock MAYBE I could have avoided the additional hold up with multiple security tags being left on my garments. read more

Customer service here is the worst!! Reps are rude and not helpful. Waiting in line for returns or online pickup is a hassle and it's all the way in the back. I had a return and pickup so I did the return first. When I realized I had left my ID in the car..: mind you I was carrying a heavy box and had to wait in line for the return so I asked the lady if she could just do my pickup at the same time. She told me I had to wait in line again...then I mentioned that I left my ID in the car, so I asked if the return would be suffice to 'prove' that I'm the person picking up (I didn't want to walk all the way to the front to get my if then walk all the way back). She said it should fine since I had the online receipt showing my name, email, address and I had the actual email for the pickup. Guess what?? I waited in line and then the new rep came up and said I needed my ID even after I explained the other lady said I was fine... so she made me walk out and then come back and wait in line all over again. WTF!!! Kohl's need to implement a better customer service process to ensure a more streamlined process!! This is why I'm going to avoid this Kohl's from now on!! read more

There is a good selection of nice clothes there. I am a guy with simple taste but I do try to be a bit fashionable on some occasions. I do enjoy their deals but wonder how much of a deal it is when some items only have the sale price on it. I also enjoy the fact try that on a few occasions out of the blue I will get Kohls cash in my email. I have become very disappointed and frustrated with Kohl's mainly when it comes to men's shoes. I do most of my clothing shopping at Kohl's. But I have found over the years the shoe size selection for advertised and displayed shoes is very poor. They seem to be out of the most popular sizes all the time. The displayed shoe frequently is the only one left, and it will be a size 7 or 13. If you don't have sufficient quantities it shouldn't be advertised or it should be noted as limited sizes left. Recently received a "thank you" coupon from Kohl's for being a customer for 19 years. Went to my local Khol's to use it and purchased enough to get $10 Kohl's cash. When I returned home, I realized that one of the tops I had purchased was not going to match the outfit I had purchased it for. I decided to return it, but wanting to keep the $10 Kohl's cash in tact (xmas is coming up), I picked out another item - same price, next day - to exchange. When I went to customer service, the girl handled it as two separate transactions. When I asked if she needed to make any changes to my Kohl's cash certificate, she said that it had been canceled because my purchase amount dropped below the $50 threshold ($46). I pointed out that I was exchanging one top for another and that the difference should have been more. She reiterated that it was two separate transactions. Which puzzled me as in the past I had been told that I could actually combine two receipts if they were both during one of the "purchase $50 and get $10" promotions. I never did it, but it did make sense. So I told the clerk that I did not want the other top and left. As I was leaving, they were advertising over their store speaker their "buy $50, get $10 Kohl's cash," so the offer was still valid. After considering what had happened, I decided to return the rest of my purchase. When I went there today, I asked to speak to the manager and I told the clerk (different employee) what had happened. She replied that the amount had dropped below $50. I told her that I was trying to do an exchange that would have kept it at or above the original amount I had spent. She abruptly told me - again - that the amount had dropped. About that time the manager showed up and during my attempt to explain the situation, the clerk kept interrupting to say "it dropped the amount." The store manager said "well, we could have done it as one transaction." Exactly! Except that's not what they did. The really sorry part of this is that I went shopping there based on getting coupons thanking me for being a Kohl's customer for 19 years and I made to feel that I was trying to cheat them out of $10. I doubt that I will be getting a coupon from them celebrating 20 years next year. Whatever happened to customer service? Kohl's used to be my favorite place to shop. read more

I was there yesterday shopping for some shoes and while I was looking my AUTISTIC son had a melt down. One of the shoe department employees walked by and stared at my son for a long period of time while he was having a melt down when we noticed she was starting we told her that my son was autistic and she rudely said "CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT IT" and walked away. Most unorganized place ever. I wanted to exchange a pair of shoes that I bought from another well organized Kohl's. I came to this one because it was closer and quickly regretted it. Nothing was where it was suppose to be and I couldn't even find one box of shoes that matched the code on the shoe I wanted. I checked on the Kohl's app and it said that the show was available at this store. Well after 10 minutes of searching I left in disgust. On October 29, 2013 around 4:30-5:00 pm, my wife and I went to a KOHL'S Store located at 418 George Clauss Blvd. Severn, MD 21144. We were returning an item (jacket) from a receipt with around $187.00 worth of purchases. The cashier who was at the counter decided to deduct $10.00 from the refund of the returned item. In other words, instead of handing me around $34.00, which was the original price my wife and I paid, she only gave around $24.00. I questioned her as to why she deducted $10 off the item. She said because we used a discount in another receipt. Mind you, the receipt has no discount on it. I had to find my wife, who was somewhere else in the store. When I found her, I explained to her what had happened and she said that she never used any discount. We went back to the cashier and my wife showed her the discount card that she never used, only to have the cashier become defensive by stating that the discrepancy was not her fault and, instead, blamed the cash register for the error. Upon further notice, the cashier realized that she accidently pressed a button which took $10 off the refund and later admitted that it was indeed her mistake. She called the manager, Marc, who was very apathetic towards the situation. When I spoke to him, he behaved like a dead person and never said a word to me. At first I thought he did not speak English so I asked him if he spoke the language, to which he replied in only a few words. I cannot believe that this man is a store manager; he literally didn't care about customers. He did not even talk or apologize to me and my wife. He was very rude and has no customer service skills. This bad customer service from this RUDE manager (Marc) will make me take my business elsewhere. read more

Actually this is about kohls.com, but the one above is where I went to complain. I ordered 2 sets of dishes, 16-piece sets, the page said includes: 4 dinner plates, 4 salad plates, 4 bowls, 4 mugs. This set was on clearance for 29.99. I ordered 2 sets and received 2 PLACE SETTINGS. When I went to the store with my online receipt and the packing slip they immediately wanted to help, but said I had to call kohls.com. So I did it right there in the store. They were stunned when I told them to punch in Sonoma Life Snow Valley and saw what the page said. (Thank goodness I had printed the page before I went). They said it was an error and the page had the wrong info. They told me to return the 2 PLACE SETTINGS for a full refund. I said, I don't want a refund!!! I want my other 6 place settings. They are refusing! I will be reporting this to the BBB. read more

This evening I made a trip to this location to return jewelry. Upon arrival I met a very sweet associate named Susan. Susan attempted to process my return and was experiencing difficulty. Another customer was waiting patiently as she attempted to resolve my return for about 10 minutes. Susan called her supervisor seeking assistance and indicated she needed him to come to jewelry to assist the other customer who was waiting patiently. After an additional ten minutes the manager never showed and Susan asked my permission to help the customer to which I agreed. Once she finished, she again tried to process my return on her own. The return eventually indicated it required a manager override. This occurred approximately 20 minutes after calling the manager the first time. When she called, I heard him ask why he was needed. She indicated again she needed assistance and this time it was requesting a manager override. An additional five minutes passed and the manager Mark arrived. During this time he assisted in processing the return and then scolded Susan in front of me stating, "you didn't tell me it was on a Kohl's charge" in a very intimidating voice. She apologized to him immediately. After continued apologies to me for waiting, which was no fault of hers, I was troubled to see how she was treated by her supervisor. This treatment in front of a customer was even more disturbing. As a supervisor, you're to assist your staff in their effort to make the customer experience seamless. Not only did Mark disregard his staffs calls for assistance, not once but twice, he made me wait for over 25 minutes for his services and then chastised his employee in front of me. He is not a person I would ever want to work for and expect better from Kohl's leadership. Retail stores are losing business left and right. Experiences in retail locations help bring customers back. This particular experience will lead me to complete purchases online or visit a different location. Kudos to Susan for a job well done and having patience for her incompetent and downright rude supervisor! read more
