I'm now working with a rat removal service but before A2Z allowed me to hire them & get in contract they should have advised me to be sure to complete the proper step beforehand of ensuring the rat infestation was resolved. Now i'm out $3500 for an unnecessary garage cleaning and still have a rat infestation. As a new homeowner (or any homeowner) I'd assume a good business would make sure I've done the pre work (in this case rat infestation elimination) before accepting the job. That's in my view a shitty thing to have done to me as the client. Really disappointed because they seemed professional throughout the process. So for this reason of not holistically proactively making sure the proper prep was done I cannot rate this business any higher than a 2 star. I paid that balance in full with two separate checks within two weeks. I have the receipts, the copies of the checks, and the bank statements showing exactly when First Call cashed them. After a full year of zero communication, I woke up today to a voicemail and email threatening to send me to collections within 48 hours. They claimed they had been "trying to reach me" for 12 months, which is untrue. I checked my call logs and my email history; there was absolutely nothing. When I called and provided my proof of payment and the exact dates they cashed my checks, they admitted the "error" was simply because someone forgot to check a box in their system. It is incredibly stressful and offensive to have your credit threatened because a company can't be bothered to check their own bank deposits before sending out threats. As a veteran, I live by a standard of integrity and doing your due diligence. Relying on a "checked box" as the Bible instead of doing actual research is lazy and unprofessional. Do better, not just for your customers, but for the reputation of the guys out there doing the actual work.

I am in the middle of a nightmare restoration project. I was referred to Lawton from Nationwide…read morefrom a fire in February. The crew that did the cleanup was fine. The only issue is they left my appliances and cabinets outside wrapped in plastic in the rain and they have been wrapped outside for months. All my contents were taken out and moved to storage. Between the claims adjusters and the demo team there was a plan in place. Eventually another guy came out to do an estimate and this guy was not the sharpest tool in the tool shed. The claims adjuster had approved all but a couple minor items that could be approved later on in the remodel. The estimator decided he needed to wait until the claims adjuster approved the last few items. Two weeks past and I was like WTF is going on and when is the project starting. He claims he left a message with Nationwide. If I wanted to move forward without the approval I was told I would be on the hook for the charges even though they had been approved. When I contacted my claims adjuster he said everything had been approved and wasn't sure what the delay was. Another two weeks past and it was a repeat where he claims to have left a message then did nothing to follow up Finally my claims adjuster got to move forward but I was leaving for 2 month in Europe. I wasn't confident to just let them do it while away given the previous month and made plans to start upon return. The project manager came out with his subcontractor. We talked and put together a plan to start the day after I returned and I approved them to come in and do measurements while away. I mentioned that the estimator was an idiot and he burst into a laugh and said he couldn't say that but proceeded to tell me a story about another project where the estimator told a woman she was not going to get what she wanted from her claim not knowing her husband was an attorney who could sue him into dust and the insurance company had approved everything. I requested some of my clothes back and after buying new clothes for trip I got some clothes back. Everything else is still being held. I leave for Europe and a couple weeks into the trip I get an email from some new project manager that he had left a voicemail for me. He could have just left an email with his comment instead of leaving a message. Everyone was on the email and when I called from Europe the message asks if he can come by and meet me onsite the next day or two. I respond back I am in Europe for 2 months so no. The next week he leaves another message asking to come over and meet the following week when I am back from my vacation. Again, he leaves me a voicemail and sends everyone an email saying he left me a voicemail. I respond back via email asking who this idiot is. I was told he was the project manager as my other project manager had family issues (more like he left the company). Two weeks before my return I inquired whether the start date was still on schedule and received no response. After a couple more emails I was told they were going to give me a tentative start date two days after the agreed start date. I was not pleased. At 4:30 PM the day after the original start date I get a voicemail and email from an admin asking if I was going to be available at 7:30 the next morning. I told them no and gave them times that worked. We agreed at a 12 noon meeting and if there was going to be a delay they would let me know. At 12:30 I hear nothing so I inquired on the timing and get no response. At 1PM I speak with my claims adjuster who has spoken with him and he calls while we are talking. He gives me excuses that he was waiting on another appointment. I said he could have let me know and it was unprofessional to leave me hanging. He claimed he didn't know he was supposed to call despite being in the loop and didn't know about the appointment. I said I needed to go out and he could meet at 4 and I learn from my claims adjuster he just wanted to meet but there was no real agenda I was also told I would receive a full project plan by Monday. It is now mid day Tuesday and I have heard nothing from anyone at Lawton. I have noticed someone from Lawton monitors Yelp. Do you have a solution and a competent and professional project manager? I would give 0 or negative stars if I could.

I had a roof leak last Dec 2025 due to heavy rains. My wall and floor got affected and needs to be…read morerepaired. My insurance assigned MDC builders to mitigate and fix the issue. I appreciate the job they did during the mitigation process by containing the area with a thick plastic membrane. They removed the affected walls and floors to prevent molds from sprouting. The paper works took a while for the repair to kick in. I love the way they meticulously repair the wall including the painting of the entire ceiling, reinstallation of the blinds, and cleaning process. The wall repair took at least 2 days to complete. The demolition and the installation of the floor was also good. If there's one thing that needs to be improved is the workflow from the flooring guys. During the demolition process, there was no plastic covering for the appliances like tv, gas range, or even in the kitchen area where dust accumulate. They are also not courteous on removal of toilet seat (dragging into the floor) and doors with respect to where they should be placed temporarily. But overall they did a great job on the floor installation. The next step on the repair process was the caulking and painting of baseboard which they did an awesome job; from preparation to completion. The last step was the delivery and reset of the furnitures. I highly recommend Jordi on the hauling out and in of our furnitures. He make sure that each and every furnitures are wrapped in blanket and plastic and other smaller items are appropriately contained in a box with paper fillings. He's very professional on the way he handles the job. As always, there's always a room for improvement, but I still recommend MDC Builders on any project based on my experience.
