The pool is huge with several straight lanes to swim plus an area to power walk with other adults. In the rear of the building, people were playing pickle ball on the basketball court. I took the elevator instead of the stairs to the second level where the weights and equipment are. The track to walk around surrounds the second floor. The outside parking lot has plenty of parking spaces. The center is in Dover and was a 20 minute drive from my area of Aurora. The center is open 7 days a week and holds many activities. The room with classes was ample and I look forward to sign up for some classes. There are 3 other locations spread across Aurora. The best part is with my United Healthcare card, membership is free!

My kids loved the fountain play area, lazy river and water slides, dad loves the lap pool and hot tub. There's a nice variety of paid and "free" classes for both kids and adults, as well as community activities and access to physical therapists and personal trainers. I'm an amateur kettlebell sport athlete and use the facility 4-5 times per week. The staff is generally friendly, helpful and accommodating, they keep things reasonably clean and in good repair and they have a wide variety of cardio equipment, free weights and weight machines to choose from. It can get crowded evenings and weekends, but there's seldom a long wait for equipment. I love ending my workout in the steam room or sauna and a nice hot shower before I head to work. I've had memberships at chain and franchise gyms as well as private gyms. If you're self-motivated and have your own training plan, this is a great budget-friendly option! So grateful to have access to this great facility supported by our community!!

They're dated and if you want to increase or decrease your speed quickly, well you're out of luck. They just seem to have some of everything... Rower, elliptical, bikes. But you can't beat the price, if you're in Aurora resident it's crazy ridiculous and they have monthly memberships plus 10 pass deals which land you under $4 a visit. I mainly go for the weight area and equipment but they have an array of group fitness classes so maybe one day that will happen. This place is very kid heavy so if you're looking for peace and quiet, go elsewhere. Picky nit? The facility faces west and has amazing views of the front range yet they have automated blinds that go down each afternoon taking away those gorgeous views. The position of the two bench presses and incline bench are pushed up against the wall on the East side of the building. Right where the steel reinforcement beams are located which leaves NO space to safely spot your partner without hitting your head or back on one of those beams. You cannot even get behind them without crawling around the weights or beams themselves. This is incredibly dangerous and a major safety issue. Whomever designed the layout of the weight room does not appear to have experience with weight training. The nautilus machines and free weight areas should probably be switched. There is nowhere to safely stretch (people do it under the stairs) or do ab exercises, box jumps, etc. Someone, with knowledge of weight training, should redesign the space for efficiency and safety.

This facility has a wall of huge windows with a beautiful view of the mountains. It's kept up & clean. There's always plenty of parking...there are even charging stations for electric vehicles. Note, membership is free for Denver residents that are 60+ & those ages 5-18. With membership you have access to all 30 Denver rec centers & pools. I regularly go to two classes - one is a Cardio & Strength class & the other is Tai Chi, both are drop-in. The instructors are fun & very knowledgeable. Christine teaches the cardio class & always demonstrates modifications, so it's perfect for all levels of fitness. Maureen is very well versed in Tai Chi as well. This is a fantastic center with fabulous instructors.

The time leading up to class was absolute chaos though. There were a set of classes that ended at 10:15 and then another set that started at 10:15. I would estimate probably well over 75 kids were either in the pool or on the pool deck - plus all the parents. Once it was time to start the next set of classes it was a nightmare trying to dodge kids getting out of the pool. I feel like there should be a better way to transition from class to class time. All-in-all it wasn't a terrible experience. We will see how the rest of the classes go.

You cannot bring outside food or drink which is the downside. Especially for those with young ones or/and with allergies. The snacks they sell are not the best. They have little trikes for kids to ride around on and they are a hit The main jungle gym play area is amazing. But it's easy to lose track of your kids. I'm a helicopter mom so I will climb around there with both and I can maneuver comfortably through it all. My 2 y/o can also climb around mostly on her own. But there are holes and high places so parents be careful. There's serval slides that are fast, but fun! The drop tower is a hit for my oldest. But I've seen kids shoot down it fast. The building block area is always a hit. There's also a "roller coaster" as my kid calls it. You slide down on a sled down a ramp. It's fun for both my girls They have a few different claw machines and you're almost guaranteed to get a prize the first time. But if you don't you get multiple chances until you get one. Which is awesome! Today was the first time my kids got to meet 'Huggy' and join in on the dance party. It was really cute and cool. My girls got a picture with him too after. I think this location is worth it. When I'm with my two girls we usually are here at least 4 hours. Today we were there over 5 hours haha.

The fitness and weights area is a little small, but it has everything that most people need. They're slowly starting to increase fitness class offerings, and they currently offer cooking classes. Most afternoons, they have free meals available for kids who need a good meal. Best of all, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They always have a smile on their faces. They know a lot of the visitors by name. In particular, Jennifer and Lupe are to be commended for going out of their way to make sure kids have a great experience at Moorhead Rec Center. I cannot speak highly enough about these two ladies.
