My son started swim class today at Beck Rec Center - I hope things get better. It wasn't an awful experience, but it wasn't great either. The class itself was good. The time leading up to class was absolute chaos though. There were a set of classes that ended at 10:15 and then another set that started at 10:15. I would estimate probably well over 75 kids were either in the pool or on the pool deck - plus all the parents. Once it was time to start the next set of classes it was a nightmare trying to dodge kids getting out of the pool. I feel like there should be a better way to transition from class to class time. All-in-all it wasn't a terrible experience. We will see how the rest of the classes go. read more

The good. The rec center has been around for a long time, and has remodeled for the better. They get stars for that. The bad. Lack of communication... I reserved a spot for basketball. Due to Covid only one person per gym is allowed. I get that and 100% support it. - Where the lack of communication comes in is that, they decided to close the basketball gym all the way, and did not bother call me, so I don't waste a trip down there. The person in Charge calls me after I already wasted a trip down there, and was pretty rude. Unclear. What is unclear is why the Basketball Gym doesn't allow 1 person in the gym anymore, the the workout area allows more than 10. once again, I support ALL efforts to prevent the spread of Covid. But what Covid prevention mechanisms does the workout area have that the Gym doesn't? Just doesn't make sense to me. read more

Really needed to find a place close by that had a good 25m pool. Wanted to get back into swimming after 5 years off. 24hr fitness only has about 3 lanes and a bunch of members. Not ideal. Found this place by suggestion from a friend. Went at 5:30am for lap swimming before classes. There was only me and some elderly lady there. The pool has 5 lanes. Went today and there was only a couple other people. They also have a wide variety of other things to do like weights, treadmill, etc. They also have a wide variety of classes all week long. I might check out the yoga and weight living ones one of these days. The place is VERY clean! The locker rooms have lockers for use. You have to bring your own lock. A day pass is $5. A 10 day punch pass is $40. And my month pass was $49. They also have longer passes. The longer the pass, the cheaper per month it is. The lady who works the front desk is super kind and awesome. I wish I had remembered her name since I'll probably be seeing her everyday now. Ah well. read more

Beck Recreation Center - Recreation Centers Near Me - Aurora, Colorado

The Beck center recently went under a remodel/update but a few problems still exist. We enrolled our infant in the infant swim lessons for a reasonable price. The third lesson in, the swimming pool's heater was not working and the water was ice cold. The Center refused to allow a make-up session or a credit for that particular day since it was "optional" if each parent wanted to get in and still take the lesson. Again, the water was freezing and even the swim instructor was shivering and apologizing. Nearly all of the parents refused to take the lesson and the couple that did, had to get out almost immediately due to the cold. All we were asking for was to be able to credit that lesson and take it on another date since we were could not put our 9 month old in the water. They refused and was not willing to work with us. We will take our future services to one of the other recreation centers. We will finish out the lessons we have already paid for, but have decided not to continue our business here. All other things considered, most of the staff is nice and the facilities are not too bad. read more

Beck rec center has been around along time and I have personally used the center for many different activities. My favorite is when I'm in Michelle's classes. She is very observant of all her participants. And always makes sure everyone is only doing what they are capable of doing. Never pushes for anything more than that. My friend and I love coming here. The trainers are awesome, the classes are awesome. I love that it's never crowded. I'm very happy with this rec center. The swimming classes for children are my only complaint. My daughter was in way too deep of water and the trainer was busy with way too many kids to notice there was a problem. I had to pull my daughter out and take her home. My money was credited and my daughter and I can go back and swim together. I'd much rather give her one-on-one lessons myself. Other than that, I've been super happy and it's a wonderful, spacious, non-crowded environment. read more

I was highly disappointed with the swimming pool amenities. It's apparent that no one with physical or developmental disabilities had any input in the remodeling of this facility. The entry doors to the pool are not handicapped accessible. The worse is the mobile sitting device for lowering individuals with disabilities into the pool. It is an outrage! I cannot believe that this device passed any safety standards. The seat belt lacks a workable buckle to secure an individual into the seat and has no side arms to assist someone from falling off the chair! In addition, the lifeguard we dealt with lacked common sense. I went to retrieve a noodle for my disabled daughter to use while in the pool and was told I could not take one as they are for swimming class only. At that time, there were 3 people in the pool and well over 75 noodles sitting in a container! She had to go ask her manager! This was truly unbelievable. I assume the manager said yes after an extended moment of dialogue as she allowed us to have one "this time but they are for the swimming class." Overall, not the best experience. read more

This is a aurora park that has been around for years. The city has remodeled the park and has made many changes to update the park and recreation city. The staff is friendly and organized. The recreation park is clean and feels safe. You can come and participate in a variety of activities and classes. They even offer puppy training foe your best friend. read more

Very rude staff, including most of the instructors. The classes are always canceled and they can't keep any instructors. Very dirty women's locker room and the Jacuzzi is filthy. Developed a rash after using it. Would not recommend it. read more

The workout equipment is all very nice and new it is kept very clean. I have not used the pool or basketball court but I have heard good things. The only downside is the classes that use a lot of the workout equipment so a person walking in has to wait. Besides that it is a very nice gym read more

I go to Beck for swimming and hot tub. Haven't had any issues so far. There seem to be enough lockers to accommodate the ladies, plus enough showers, etc. Folks at front desk are friendly and helpful. read more

Awesome facility! The pool is clean, the basketball courts are nice. The gym has everything you need, the only problem is that no one puts the weights back the right way. Sometimes you will catch a few grumpy people at the front desk, but the trainers are very very nice. I work out here all the time. read more

We had a great experience with the swimming lessons for my 3 year old. He started off the first day terrified of the water, and he had never been not right next to mommy, but by the end of lessons he was blowing bubbles, holding on to the wall all by himself, and kicking up a storm. They have the life guard standing right in front of the kids too, so that made me feel like he was safe. I also liked that they were really teaching him skills that would help him learn to swim and be safe in the water. Some places we looked at were much more expensive, but had the children wearing life jackets and other crutches, while basically standing in a foot of water and playing with toys. The whole place looked very nice and was clean. I was pleasantly surprised. read more

Generally clean facility with many different activities available. Pool is kept on the warmer side for aqua therapy. Staff is friendly and responsive. Please note: do not seek or accept medical treatment/information from your swim or fitness instructor. They may be full of good intentions but state of the art medical education is what they should be full of. read more

This rec center is perfect. It has a nice pool, new enlarged hot tub which my husband soaks in 3x/week (temp is perfect he says), variety of machines, weights, classes and it very clean. My girlfriend and I attend the Cardio Circuity 3x/week and I also do the treadmill while watching a TV show or listening to my iPod. It has something for everyone and all the staff is very friendly and helpful. Instructors of classes very into what they do. read more

This is just 5 minutes from our home, and what a great facility. There's plenty of quality exercise equipment, and the drop-in fitness classes are a fantastic bonus that are included in the cost of a drop in visit. You also can't beat the price -- we purchased a punch card so do not have any membership fees but can visit anytime for about $4/visit. The staff has always been very friendly and competent as well. I've been coming to Beck Rec over the past few years. There have been so many issues since the remodel. This past week, the water temp has been over 90 degrees. It's very hard to exercise in that. We haven't been able to take showers many times because of scalding or freezing water. The hot tub has not been working many times. Several individuals have gotten serious skin rashes from chemicals they are using in the hot tub. Improvements did not happen in the pool area. read more

Just started taking Cardiostrength about 6 weeks ago with Keithan. Not only did he greet each person personally but he gave you a real workout!! I am 64 and debated about whether I would get enough of a workout since most of the 9:30 A.M. participants are over 55 -wow, was I in for a surprise! He pushes you to really go farther with your workout and tells you he is pushing you "with love" so you are motivated to give it all you've got. He instructs you in how to get the most from the machines and doesn't just give meaningless platitudes. The past 2 weeks we have had other instructors and they are very nice but I don't get as much of a workout-don't feel as motivated to push myself. I don't get as much from the exercise balls or timers and I think one of the new instructors was not aware of what even seniors are capable of. There is a group of people who have been coming a long time and Keithan was the reason. Although the new instructors are very pleasant women I just miss getting a workout where I feel that I have stretched every muscle in my body. read more
