General Tso's Chicken Dinner Combo, really well presented. Just the right portion.
Andrew C.

I just moved to the area and of course the first thing you should do after finding a good pizza place (Squisito's!) is find a good Chinese place. Szechuan No.1 is pretty darn good as Chinese delivery goes. They arrived exactly when they said they would, the food was piping hot, and REALLY well presented for delivery Chinese. I mean just look at the photos. The price is right (19.02 for General Tso's Chicken and Sesame Chicken Dinner Combos), the food is tasty (though I thought the egg rolls could've gone in the fryer just a litttttle longer), and what else could you really ask for? If I had to nitpick tho, I'd say it's frustrating that they don't seem to have any website, so I had to call instead of order online, the menu on Yelp is several years old so I don't know if it's accurate, and they didn't provide a menu in their delivery bag, so I can't keep it on the fridge for the future. Next time I order I'll go pick it up so I can get a fresh menu.

Chicken with Spicy Salt and Pepper

I know Chinese places aren't typically the place to go for quality food, but honestly this place is pretty darn good. This is the place my boyfriend and I go when we want something quick, cheap, and good. He always gets general tso's chicken and I always get the crispy chicken with spicy salt and pepper. There is something so satisfying about crispy food and salt that I just crave it sometimes. I literally got it twice in one week I couldn't resist. The best thing about rhis place is the price! So cheap and so much food!

Despite living in this area for years, I Just tried it for the first time & it defenitely didn't disappoint! I recommend the General Tso's chicken, Beef Chow Fun & Egg Drop Soup!

Supposed to be general tso chicken- but it's not chicken

Worst Chinese food EVER! The rice was dry, hard and had no flavor. The chicken lo Mein tasted like noodles with no flavor. The general Tso was huge pieces, with a bunch of random filler and no chicken. I seriously couldn't tell what was in it. See my picture. I figured at least the fortune cookies would be good but nope...those were stale. Drive somewhere else...anywhere.

I was on the hunt for salt and pepper shrimp (without head and shell) that doesn't cost a fortune. This is the place!! I got that and an order of the shrimp spring rolls. The salt and pepper shrimp was so good! You can tell they freshly prepared it with a good kick to it. I asked it to be spicy, so there was a good amount of pepper & jalapeño, which was perfect. The shrimp spring rolls were okay, nothing to write home about. Also, the lady who works there is so sweet. I didn't catch her name but she made sure that my order was correct and showed me before she put it in the bag. That was very appreciative! Will definitely be back to try out more things!

This is my new choice for Chinese food since I moved to the neighborhood. It's the typical takeout Chinese place: pictures of the food on the walls, two tables if you're crazy enough to dine in, drink cooler in front of the counter. Their egg rolls are short and chubby compared to most. The one extraordinary thing is they have whole roasted duck on the menu. I'm going to have to try it sometime. I had the pork fried rice. It seemed to take longer than I expected but I didn't check my watch. Save time and call ahead if you live in the area.

Triple delight lunch special with hot sour soup for $8.40

When I want chicken wings with Mambo sauce this is where I go. The wings here are huge and cheap. The lunch specials at Szechuan 1 are very affordable too.

By far the best Chinese take out around. Good food and service with a smile, always and without exception.

My friend and I just finished our lunch here and the experience was superb…read more We ordered 3 dishes (pictured below). The beef chow fun was an absolute banger. One bite was enough for me to know the dish was prepared to near perfection. The high heat (not spice) of the dish remained within the noodles. The touch of oil was apparent and not overwhelming. This dish was amazing. The roasted duck noodle soup was also great. The duck was juicy and tender. The soup balanced out the duck's greasiness. A fine dish as well. The GuiFei chicken was okay to good. The chicken was slightly dry, but it was still tasty. This dish was definitely a miss on my judgment but it was good enough. For those wanting to visit Noode King, the beef chow fun is a must order!

Generally speaking, I thought the food was fine. Was the food amazing? No. BUT, it was not horrible - I would say that my meal was slightly above average. Also, I thought the prices and portion sizes were pretty fair. I think the noodle soup was about $14 and the wontons were about $7. My order arrived to my home around 45ish minutes. However, I think the delivery aspect is more of a Grubhub thing rather than the restaurant. While the restaurant provided separate containers for the noodles and the broth, I wish they provided a larger container to mix the soup and noodles like many of the ramen and pho places provided for its delivery/take-out orders. Although I was not blown away by the food, it was good enough for me to reorder in the future.

We have been familiar with the area for years, as my father-in-law lived 3 minutes away, and recently we realized this was his go-to carryout. After 3 visits, I can say it's one of the best in the DMV, thanks to its flavor and food choices. You will find Japanese options like sushi, American-Chinese dishes like orange chicken, similar dishes, and Cantonese food like roast duck, Hong Kong-style noodle soups, and whole fish. They are family-owned and operated. Every time we come, the elder father is always gracious and provides excellent service. The restaurant is always quiet; you can hear conversations in the back, and as customers arrive to pick up their orders, we haven't witnessed any negative interactions. Customers are always happy with their food, and the staff say thank you. The only negative is the space. The building itself is older and outdated. In the summer, it is hot, and now in the winter, there is no heat. They have found ways to make it work, like space heaters on each table, but it can still get uncomfortable if you are dining in. The back area near the bathroom and the bathroom itself need a thorough cleaning. To me, it's a turnoff; it doesn't affect the food, but it does affect the dine-in experience. Again, overall, I love their food and believe it's a local gem worth a try.
