Food is excellent if you get it. I use grubhub 2-3 times per week and the only place I have trouble actually getting food is from Szechuan cafe. Chances are about 50%-50%. read more

I have been coming here with my family for yearsss! I mean like over 10 years. Because of Tim and his amazing customer service we will always be coming back. My husband, my parents and I just went there for there 29th weddinh Anniversary and of course still the same service and exceptional food. This place is what you call GOURMET chinese food. The taste is completely different than takeout. We ordered the vegetable fried rice and the shrimp with veggies in a dark sauce. It was scrumptious. Love this place. Recommend it to everyone. read more

Schechuan Cafe's sushi quality is one of the best I have had (even as carry out). Their Volcano Roll is the best version I have ever ordered, and the Pink Lady Roll is always a must try for all kinds of sushi eaters. The employees are super friendly and accommodating. read more

My favorite local Chinese food restaurant! They are always clean, friendly and have food ready in such a timely manner! I've never had a bad meal here and they always follow my picky requests to a "T"! I definitely recommend! read more

We used to eat here at least once a week. Not because it was amazing but because it was close and good. But they nickel and dimed me one too many times. Sushi Q in millersville or even Yama Sushi is better than this place. Those two restaurants even give you a free roll or dessert. Drive a little further if you want a restaurant that appreciates your business. And the Chinese food is absolutely nothing special. Keep searching or head to the mall bc it's on par with mall food and mall food is cheaper. read more

Szechuan Cafe - $18 for 18 pieces. This is not worth $1 a bite. - Szechuan Near Me - Pasadena, Maryland

I could cry. I don't know what happened tonight, but I had to throw away the orange chicken. This WAS my go to place, never disappointed, food used to be great, but tonight I had to turn my back on them. Crab rangoons=no crab. Chicken fried rice=covered in brown sauce with a weird taste and no vegetables in the mix. Orange chicken=weird chemical taste from the sauce and the chicken was tough and cut way too big to be enticing. Why was everything covered in that brown sauce, yuck. The only thing that was edible was the combo salad and the vegetarian spring rolls. I am really disappointed, but I'm not the type to get fooled twice; especially when I fork out $50 expecting some good food. Sorry to say it, but they went from hero to zero in my book. Panda Express is better. read more

Nasty lady at front I think she is the owner Terrible customer service I said thank you to the cashier 3 times and nothing I guess they don't like my business read more

This local gem is consistently voted best Chinese in Pasadena. Pretty easy to see why. Service is adequately friendly but not overly. They're not faking pleasantries. Lunch menu is affordable and variety is good. Entrees include a cup of 5 different soups. On my visit, we included cheese rangoon plus drink was $25. Browsed the sushi menu; all sushi is made in house before you at the bar. It was a bit more pricey than what I wanted to spend at lunch but perhaps on a dinner trip read more

The last time I ate here it was below average. Cold wonton soup and bad orange chicken, Because of the the positive Yelp reviews I decided to try again. I ordered a the Yaki Udon and Miso soup and my wife ordered the sweet and sour shrimp/chicken and spring rolls. The Miso soup tasted great. The Yaki Udon had a brown soy sauce that was too salty for my taste. The sauce was overhweming and too away from the vegetables, noodles and the meat. The chicken tasted good but the shrimp were very rubbery. Was not entirely impressed with the dish. Wife thought the sweet and sour shrimp/chicken was ok, just ok. The spring rolls were good. I'm more impressed than the last time but still dont think its amazing. read more

Loved this place the first time we went. Not so much this time. Service was extremely slow, tables that ordered 10 minutes after us had food before we did. Glasses sat empty for long periods. My fiancé' ordered sushi, and despite clarifying twice for the waitress he only wanted 2 six-counts, she brought out three. His sushi came out way before the appetizers did. Appetizers finally came, he was nearly done with his sushi. My entree showed up probably 20 minutes after the appetizers did. By then, we just boxed it up to go. I did try one piece of the General Tso's before boxing it up, all gristle. Probably just going to go into the trash at home. Waitress charged us for the wrong appetizer, I was looking over the check and made mention to my fiancé. Our waitress was at a nearby table cleaning it, and she immediately came over and started getting defensive about the prices. I told her it was fine, I wasn't concerned, just making an observation. Apparently, that wasn't acceptable because she went and got the menu which she proceeded to shove in my face to show that the price of both appetizers was the same. She just didn't feel like correcting it on the receipt. Super slow service, lousy waitress, and now take-out grade food. We'll pass on this place. Guess one time was the charm. read more

Szechuan Cafe. On my first visit they made me feel as a Special Guest as I walked in to ask for a table. (Like they were expecting a magazine critic ) The Bamboozle Roll..  is like you died and went to heaven.  Mr Johnny [Lini] is fluent in Spanish, you can see him visiting the tables. Quite the character. The seafood UDON was delicious.  All what I needed for a good end to a rough weekend.  Mr. Johnny and Ms [Elisa] have a total success in Szechuan Cafe! read more

First off I just wanna say t hat the sushi my wife and I ordered looked great and the flavor wasn't bad. The reason for the two star is because I order the Sea King Pan Fried noodles and it was terrible. The lobster tail was overcooked and very rubbery, the shrimp was the same and the scallops had the texture of a warm marshmallow. It literally was just a big plate of rubber and vegetables with some lightly salty sauce and a palm full of low end pan fried noodles. I'm not trying to be snarky when I say this but honestly speaking, I enjoyed the fortune cookie more than I did the $25 plate of nothing I ordered. The waiter, as enthusiastic as he is, obviously hasn't eaten there in a while because he kept telling me that I should finish my food because he likes it. Even mentioning how the scallops are good and more expensive than the jumbo shrimp. Such a shame. read more

Ok this place is the shit.they have the best Chinese food anywhere . Flavor is constantly on time. And some of the best egg rolls anywhere. Just try them you won't be disappointed read more

This is the GO TO Chinese Restaurant in AA County (we've been going for 10 years). The sushi is our favorite thing, and we haven't had anything that lacked flavor, was the wrong temp, or looked sloppy. Go for the Pink Lady Roll, Raven Roll, Lobster Roll, etc. The prices are appropriate for these as well. If sushi isn't your thing I suggest the house fried rice, soups and chicken dishes. Generous portions, and crispy white meat. We really are treated like family when we walk in - the service is beyond compare. If you haven't tried this place, do it!! read more

Four out of five stars means it's a winner. This place has sushi to rival anything in downtown Annapolis with an above average specialty roll selection to go along with all the usual suspects. I held back one star for the strip mall location and slow initial service, we were greeted and poured water immediately, bu then it was ten minutes before we placed our order for drinks appetizer and sushi all at the same time. Other than that, everything was great. We met the owner at the end of our meal and had previously overheard him explaining the freshness of their sushi to a carry-out customer. Evidently they make everything to order, even the common rolls. The pricing was higher than average for the size of the specialty rolls, but they were very good. The Green Ocean roll is the only one (out of six) that we didn't like. I ate it though, for what it's worth. We also had: - The Ultimate Tuna - Chesapeake Roll - Green River Roll - Fancy Dragon - Boston Roll ...they were all good. read more

You will find excellent food here and the staff treats everyone as a member of their extended family. There is an extensive dinner menu which includes Chinese and Japanese cuisine. The Szechuan's hot and sour soup is the best I have had anywhere and my favorite sushi is Pink Lady. My husband and I always take our guests there and every single person has raved about this outstanding restaurant. Note: If it is your birthday and you mention it, a big deal will be made of the occasion. If you do not like loud birthday music played in your honor, then remain silent. :) read more

Szechuan Cafe never disappoints us. We do not go out to eat very often; but when we have guests from out of town, a birthday, or other special occasion to celebrate with eating out, we go to Szechuan Cafe. *The food is hot when they serve it to you. I've never had a restaurant serve the food as hot as they do. *The owner always greets us at least once during the meal. You feel taken care of and special. * A good amount of people go through the restaurant. In my mind, that means the food is more likely to be fresh. * I like the decor. It's more of a family-friendly restaurant with friendly noise than a quiet, subdued restaurant - though my husband and I go there in a heartbeat for a romantic meal. I think the food is delicious, but I do not order that much variety. The last time I ordered the avocado sushi, the chunks of avocado were very generous. The spring roll appetizers were hot and crisp. read more

Decided to try a new place for Chinese food tonight, and called Szechuan Cafe for some takeout. SO glad I did. I met the owner when I entered, and we chatted for a few minutes while my order was being finished. He was incredibly friendly and personable, and I'll add that the restaurant smelled amazing. For dinner, planning on having leftovers, I ordered the vegetable spring rolls (2), a small wonton soup, and a small House Lo Mein. Spring rolls: crispy outside, but not greasy. Flavorful cabbage inside, that was still somewhat chewy and not limp like most spring rolls. Definitely would eat again. Wonton soup: simple, flavorful, and hot. Hit the spot. Definitely would eat again. The house lo mein: my 'small' container of lo mein was stapled together at the top to prevent it from overflowing -- that's how packed the container was. The house lo mein has shrimp, chicken, and roast pork and I was pleasantly surprised to find a LOT of (big) shrimp, chicken, and pork in with my noodles. Saucy, but not overwhemingly so, and plenty hot. I have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow, because the portion is generous. Overall total bill was under $12, and between the great flavors and all three above-average food items, it was well worth it. Definitely recommend this place for quality carry-out, hoping to eat in next time or sit outside at the tables. read more

This restaurant has become one of my favorites. Remember the days of good service and good food. When you go to the Szechuan Cafe that is exactly what you get. I have been going here since they first opened up. This place is awesome for dates, parties, or just to take your mother out for a nice dinning experience. I haven't had any complaints about the service, quality or atmosphere inside the restaurant. Since COVID I've realized that there food is much better when it's not delivered and made hot and fresh as usual. They also offer a sushi bar where u can watch the amazing technique of there sushi chefs at work. This isn't a huge dinning spaceSo sometimes waiting can take a little bit but the weight has always been worth it to me read more

When I saw the tiny box of rice for my lemon chicken, I must say, I had never seen so much ambition from a chinese food restaurant! Once assembled in my bowl, I now see the wisdom. The rice was the perfect amount! You could probably do with less lemon sauce to pare down more waste. I was disappointed that my crabmeat and cheese rolls only contained cheese and it was salty! The miso soup was good and my kids enjoyed the shrimp lo mein. read more

I've since been here a couple more times, including dine-in. Food is consistent. Sit-in space is comfortable, I don't think it's as tight as the other Yelper made it sound. As for dine-in experience, the front of staff/bobbed hair hostess really puts me off coming here. Not sure how she is with everyone else, but whenever I come here she has a very haughty attitude. I don't know if it's because of way I look/dress or because of an arrogant disposition on her part, but her tone of voice and overall demeanor come across as almost disdainful. I'm not the type of diner that needs chipper service, but I do appreciate some politeness/civility, especially from front of house staff. My latest experience with her was walking in with a friend and instead of the standard greeting followed by "how many?" She just looked at us confused and said annoyed, "Can I help you?" As if we couldn't possibly be coming in to eat? I can see why they favor her at the front, though. Of all the non-native English speaking staff, she does speak the best English, too bad it doesn't correlate with her customer service skills. My experience with other wait staff is attentive, friendly, and professional service. The owner is always making an effort to go around chatting up customers, giving off a very friendly vibe. However, for that lady at the front has made me feel unwelcome every time I've come. So I'm sticking to occasional take-out. P.S. If you come here for lunch, the Chinese menu is very limited. Unless you just want sushi (full sushi menu at lunch), you should only come for dinner for the Chinese menu, which is pricier than other places for both lunch and dinner. Price for sushi is okay. read more

I got here prior to 3 pm and by the time they sat us, it was 3:01 and they refused to let us order lunch and were rude about it. Update review I know it's been a while but the boyfriend asked to go here again as he said the pepper steak is delicious. We've had Chinese food from Chinatowns in various cities like San Fran, Seattle, NYC, etc. and this place is just OK (and OK only because of its location). Hot & Sour soup was good, but on the sweet side. Mongolian beef and sesame chicken was doused in sauce Chicken lo mein was tasteless Chicken fried rice was really dark brown and disgusting tasting This place is just marginally better tasting than other Chinese places that are simply awful in the area. read more

Food is always good, however, when calling to place my order for carry out, the woman was absolutely as rude as could be. I called and my phone cut out, so I called back and she said that I should have my order written down, which I did. As she read my order back, way too fast, I had trouble understanding her. Needs to be a little more compassionate to customers understanding her accent. So food is good but customer service is not so good. She was absolutely as rude as could be. read more

My two daughters and I were having a ladies night out, we decided to go at this restaurant. We ordered drinks and all three of us ordered egg drop soup. The waitress took our order and said nothing she went over to the manager and spoke to him. He came over and said that we could not just order soup we had to order a meal. We thought he was joking and he said we were taking up a table. It was at 9:00 no one was in the restaurant, again we thought he was joking around with us. He said he was sorry but we could not eat there. WOW - what he was saying was that we were not going to spend enough money at his restaurant. I paid for the drinks and we left.
