Another hidden gem in the Vancouver Japanese food scene! All Japanese-speaking staff and lovely all-wood interior. Looks small from the outside but actually a decent amount of seating inside.
Comprehensive drinks menu with sake and umeshu flights. We got the umeshu flight and the 3 different flavours were amazing.
À la carte menu definitely on the pricey side, but the quality's there. We got 1pc of salmon aburi and foie gras aburi, and both were delicious, accompanied by real wasabi.
On the other hand, the donburi lunch menu is very high-value. Sadly they ran out of the hokke (mackerel) so I went with the salmon ikura. Good portion size and extremely fresh. Hubs got the karaage salad bowl, pretty standard fare. Donburis come with a miso soup and a side dish, which today was fish in dashi broth -- 5/5!
Staff are so friendly and gave us a special birthday dessert on the house -- black sesame panna cotta -- even though desserts are generally not served for lunch.
Overall a fantastic experience and would recommend! read more
