This is my family's second time eating at this location of Syrup and yet again, we are being consistently impressed by the service and quality of food. The staff members are all super friendly, the manager even came over to ask how our meal was. Our needs were always tended to and the food was super delicious. Syrup Resturaunt has a great buzz. You notice that right away. It's clean, upscale homemade food that is so delicious I came back again today! I was here yesterday. The coffee is delicious, the worker bees are friendly, fast and efficient! I had French toast that was to die for! They have some sort of amazing cinnamon butter and some sort of homemade vanilla cream syrup that I've never had before. It's AMAZING!! I took my grandchildren to Syrup for breakfast one Saturday. The menu has everything you could ever want for breakfast. However, it is very difficult to determine the price of anything. I realized after I received the bill; $75.00 for three of us; I took another look at the menu. The prices were on it but not in the place you would expect to find them. They were in a very, very tiny print font. It is a beautiful place with great servers but be prepared to pay 2-3 times more for breakfast than you normally would. Regular customer here. Although I miss the old Colonial restaurant, Syrup is a great place and unique in character for the area. Hits: 1) Starting with the most obvious is the decor. It's quite a step up in decor and color scheme from the previous Colonial. Everything is white, simple but with style. It feels a little fancy and I dig it! Syrup is not a greasy spoon local diner, although I love those, too. This is a great place to have a business meal or to take anyone that you want to impress with a nice breakfast. 2) The staff has been consistently friendly, reliable, and on point with their service. 3) Most of the items on the menu are a hit! I normally have trouble narrowing down my order. Top picks: - Nutella & strawberry crepes. They make these with a lot of care. The Nutella is not recklessly globbed on or too sweet. It is balanced portion of toppings that doesn't make me feel guilty later. - Biscuits and gravy- one of my favorites! - Oatmeal - another great pick that is done with touch of artistry. - Fresh squeezed orange juice, roasted potatoes, side of ham ... all great picks! In all cases, the portions are plentiful and normally require boxes to take home. The "not so much of a hit" items include.... - Pancakes. Hate to say it, other have disagreed, but there pancakes are just ok. I had them multiple times and my reaction has been the same. They are big and fluffy, but there is something missing. They are just a little bland. They serve it with fancy icing and syrup on the side, but the pancakes itself were just ok. Not quite a miss, but not for me. - Coffee. Again, was just ok. With such a nice looking place, I was hoping for premium coffee and or a menu of flavored coffee (not just flavored cream). Not a miss, but also probably not going to excite people. For these reasons, the place is definately more than 4 stars, but not quite 5 for me. I really enjoyed each visit and will definitely return! Overall, a solid A minus. read more

We LITERALLY found this restaurant by accident. We were following directions to another restaurant and passed Syrup. After realizing we still had quite a jaunt to the "other" breakfast place (I don't even remember the name) we turned around in downtown Aurora and came back to Syrup. Now it's our FAVORITE Saturday or Sunday breakfast or brunch place. There's almost always a wait (which should tell you something about the food and the service). The food is beyond delicious. I've tried the chicken fried chicken (to die for!!), cheesy grits (my new favorite side), homemade corned beef hash, biscuits & gravy, and peppermint latte (TWICE). My husbands favorite is the BLTA (except he doesn't eat avocados or want the lettuce or tomatoes, so he basically gets a bacon and egg sandwich with double the bacon), French toast or waffles. We haven't been able to try their special syrup because it wouldn't pour well the first time. The second time my husband got too full with regular syrup . Even the regular coffee is amazing. I know EXACTLY where we will be taking visiting family and friends. OH YEAH...I always divide my food up because it's enough for leftovers the next day. I have mixed feelings on this place. I really enjoy the chicken and waffles but the hits are hits and the misses are total bummers. As I understand it there's a shrewd kitchen manager that would not accommodate my vegetarian child with potatoes instead of bacon on the kids menu. We instead had to purchase an adult portion of potatoes that cost more than the entire kids meal and never knew this detail until the bill arrived. Fast and friendly service even on a weekend. The aesthetic inside is cute. Huge ( way too huge) portions. Just got some eggs, grits and the waffle flight. Other guests got pancakes. A side of eggs was like 4 eggs. The pancakes were gigantic. Waffle flight was a little bit heavy handed on all the toppings and syrups. Kind of soggy.
