The food was OK. The atmosphere of the place was horrible. It was very dark in there. You couldn't see what you were really getting.

Update- Really Delicious Hush Puppies here. Corn sticks not…read moreso much/See if they'll sub for you. And, ask for side bowl of BBQ sauce. Pork is delicious just plain in juices+ it comes out that way but if you're like me you want that side bowl. 1st Time there I was totally confused about the Difference between a 'dinner'+ a 'platter'. It's not clear. Platter = 2x as much meat. I dream about this meal when I haven't eaten here for a while. PS Their coleslaw-and I love coleslaw- has a LOT of flavor+ is very good as well ! You Know why it's been around forever.

This was definitely an experience. Out of the way for me on my way home from Myrtle Beach to…read moreWinchester, VA (originally from Hickory, NC), but worth it as the nostalgia screams dinner with Grandmomma & Grandaddy. You walk in and the young HS or College Busboys/waiters are lined up waiting to assist. It has to be one of the most nostalgic things gs I've seen in a long time. The sweet tea is southern pucker sweet & perfect!! There's malt vinegar on the table for collards, and the NC vinegar based BBQ sauce was very good. However, the chopped pork BBQ did t really need any help, it was just as good on its own and not mushy. I even enjoyed the yellow coleslaw, it's a mustard & vinegar base and tasty. The Brunswick stew could have been heat hotter, but it had a decent taste with plenty of meat & veggies. I would definitely drive out of my way again to share Parker's with my 15yr old who missed this road trip.
