Highly genuine, truly Inspirational customer service is by Kasey.. She remembers what I eat. She goes and cleans the table...around not leaving a bit. She talks to the cashier and explains that I had only Veggie Burgers. If you give her more tips...she states not required...not greedy or jealous. Rare to find such people. This location is good. The Goldsboro location is also great to go to. Really great selection on the hot and cold bar here. Texas toast is the best. I get the chopped beef with gravy,, onions and peppers. Also the rice is good with this. read more

Favorite take out salad place in town as all ingredients seem to be cool, crisp, very fresh and PREMIUM. I called 15 minutes before closing and asked if I arrived at closing time at 8:00 PM could I please still get in to make a salad or order ahead and have someone prepare it before I arrive suggesting I didnt want to hold them up too late. Manager stated they usually lock doors at 7:55 PM but she personally held door open for me at my 7:58 PM arrival. Salad bar as always just as fresh and clean tidy (not cross contaminated ingredients) at closing time as at start of their day. I think they have 1 employee that is hired/dedicated to just manage their cold bar cleanliness and fullness. Best ranch dressing and Watergate salad I've ever had every single time I visit. This was my first time visiting this location. We used to have a Western Sizzlin I Greenville years ago and I truly miss it, but after dining at this place, I don't have a problem driving to Wilson. The line was extremely long so bring your patience. Everything on the buffet was excellent, although I ordered a steak and baked potato extra! If I had known how great the buffet was, I would not had ordered the steak, because the steak was not cooked the way I ordered it. Other than that, the food was great, and so was the service! I had a horrible experience. I sat down to figure out what I wanted to eat (I just started the keto diet). The waitress who was the manager name Erica informed me that I couldn't sit there because she had a party of 20 waiting on the table. So, I got up and sat at another table. That same waitress informed me that since I hadn't ordered yet that I would have to sit on the bench. She stated, "It's a rule." I informed her that once I figured out what I wanted to eat then I would get up. She yelled, "That's crazy." So it's okay to hold tables for people who are in line GETTING ready to order but I can't sit at table to figure out what I want to eat. My money is just as good as theirs. I later spoke with Annette who was under Erica and she apologized. She tried to make excuses but agreed that it's not a RULE. Erica was very unprofessional and GHETTO. This must be a family owned restaurant because I can't see how she would be capable of managing anything with an attitude like that. Also, when I asked Annette for Eric's boss she informed me that his name was Bob Bass but he's retired so he was NEVER there. I then asked her for corporate number she told me she didn't have it. Steak was overdone and tough and baked potato tasted like it was left over from the day before.

If I could give a one star I would. I made reservations for my Mom two weeks in advance. I called days prior to confirm. Once I got there they said they didn't do reservations!! A white party came in and their tables were reserved and also a paper saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I am not please at all!! Everyone acting like they had no clue of who I spoke with. Great food but experienced very poor service from a rude waitress named Megan. She made comments to the table behind us who was done eating but enjoying some good family convo that if they wanted to sit and talk to go to Starbucks. Then as my family and I were still eating; as she cleaned the table in front of us she was talking out load to her self that if we wanted to have a family reunion then we as well needed to go somewhere else. We had only been there an hour and that INCLUDED waiting on our food to be delivered to our table. As we got ready to leave she practically ran to clean our table and of course i did not leave her a tip. She said wow not even a tip. So I walked back over to the table and said to her that when your working for tips you don't make mean and hateful comments to your guests. This girl got confrontational and her and I exchanged some words. My 1st job was a waitress when I was in high school so I always leave a good tip if it is earned and it was right at Christmas time so she would of gotten a even better one from our family. But because of her actions she got nothing from not only us but the table behind us. This place is well off the beaten path, but you'll agree this place is a little gem. Don't go expecting facny steaks, but the meat quality is fine. Everything is served Cafeteria style,... grab a tray and order meal and/or buffet OR BOTH!!! I ordered steak tips with peppers inions and mushroom gravy. Brought me back in time to when this used to be the go-to steak house! The steak was really good, and throw in the hot and cold buffet for an extra two bucks...where could you go wrong!!!! On this trip, the Place was crowded, but the cashier was very helpful and pleasent. Once we found a table it was game on for the buffet. Great salad bar and plenty of items to choose from, fried chicken, meatballs, chicken livers, soups, desserts, veggies etc... The only downer was the waitress seemed to forget about us. So we had to go find refills for drinks and bus our own table. (we just piled our plates on the table next to us) No tip left. Maybe (hopefully) it was due to the crowd because the food was not bad. But waitress service like that will kill the place. I will still return for the food as it was good and the price was right. read more

If I could give Western Sizzlin in Wilson a rating of 0, I would. Been there twice in last 2-3 weeks. Worked on the restaurant industry for 25 years and our biggest focus was customer service. They don't have any. Last time they wanted to take issue when my disabled husband sat in a booth while I waited 20 minutes in line. They have some unknown rule that you can't wait in a booth if you didn't go through the line. You should wait on a bench that I figured was for To Go orders. Tonight we went after my husband had eaten at the assisted living facility where he lives. I ordered the buffet. I know you are not to share plates so I just got him a plain biscuit. We were told he could not eat that. It is considered a to go buffet and would be charged by weight. So I told them to go weigh the biscuit and let me know how much it was. Too many places in Wilson to eat to get that kind of grief. One in Rocky Mount is great and never had any issues. Will eat in Rocky Mount before going to visit from now on. read more

Western Sizzlin has been a mainstay restaurant in Wilson for decades, the last few visits the buffet food tasted that old - I'm sure it is prepared daily but it's either dry or soggy or both. As an iconic steakhouse for Wilson it seems the quality of the buffet items should be better - how can toast be terrible? Everything tastes the same except for the salad. Price was out of this world for hamburger steak (actually hamburger patty) and order of beef tips with peppers and onions (without the gravy I requested on the phone) $20. The place is just ok. Walking in the door is like going back in time. We used to have one of these in my hometown back in the early 80s. In fairness though the steak I ordered was cooked perfectly (med rare), the problem was there was just no taste. It was as if it was out of the fridge and onto the grill. They do have a small buffet with about 20 items and a potato bar. The staff was extremely nice and attentive. All in all I may go back at some point but I'm not in a hurry to get there. read more

Wife & I went here today for dinner. We went thru the line & we both ordered the 8oz sirloin cooked (medium) with baked potato and we both ordered the one trip cold bar which includes the salad bar & fruit bar. We paid and found a table, waitress came to take our drink order & when she brought our drinks our food came. Both steaks were cooked medium well to well done--absolutely no pink in the middle of the steak and steaks were very dry & no seasoning at all. Also, waitress brought us two salad bowls, salad bowls are very small--no way you can get a good salad and get fruit in the same bowl so its a rip off for the $4.99 price. Very dis-satisfied with what we got for the price we paid which was a total of $41.36. We won't be going back because its just not worth what we paid & can't get steak cooked right!! For $4.99 customers should be able to get a bowl for salad & a bowl for fruit bar instead of one bowl for both when bowls are so small. read more

Took our 82 year old mother and 90 year old father to eat at the Wilson, NC Western Sizzlin for a pre Mother's Day meal and the manager would not allow them to sit down at a table until they went through the line. They can not stand up on their own much less walk through a line. The manager was not at all accommodating for their disability needs. The owner needs to be aware of how their manager is violating ADA. read more

We've patronized our Locally Owned Western Sizzlin for many years. It is a "FAMILY" type business with owners who are engaged with their customers and community. Sometimes we don't have to tell them what we want ~ they know us and that is nice due to it brings a sense of "community" spirit to our visit. Clean, neat interior and friendly staff. Pricing is fair and ordering simple. *We go to this family restaurant primarily as a simple down to earth meal with our daughters and 3 granddaughters. read more

I have lived here in Wilson 4 years. I love the service and the price is right. I have never had a single complaint about anything. Went in and ordered a double grill chicken with bake potato. When I received it the chicken was tender but dry and there was a burnt crust on portions of the two chicken breast. I have had this dish in the past where it was cooked and prepared perfect for me but this time the cooks missed the mark. However, the waitress was outstanding and provided excellent service. My drink was never allowed to go empty and she returned several times to make sure everything was all right. read more
