This was our first time experiencing Daniel's Casual Fine Dining. I really like the ambiance inside, great place for a date night or a special family occasion. Our server was quite nice and was able to answer our menu questions. Our meal began with the soup of the day, Chicken Tortilla Soup. It was quite tasty, full of veggies that you would find in a pico de gallo nestled in a rich tomato broth, topped with crispy tortilla strips and served in a very small 8oz cup. What was missing was the chicken... I think I encountered one very small cube of chicken in one of those bites. My husband had the bowl size and echoed the same sentiment. For entre, I ordered the Blue Cheese and Apple Salad and made it a meal with the delicately fried oysters. The portions were great for a meal, but I expected more diversity in the salad greens. I received a mound of spinach that would make Popeye extremely happy. I would have loved some crispy romaine to vary the density of the spinach. However, the house dressing and candied walnuts added a great touch. My husband ordered the Cajun Chicken Pasta which I sampled. I loved the sausage and the complexity of flavors for this dish. My son had the crab cakes which were also greatly portioned. He said that the cakes were very good, but for the premium prices he'd expected more crab and less filler. Nevertheless, he still cleaned his plate. Overall, we had a pleasant evening, but for what you pay for a meal, I expected a little bit more. read more

From appetizer to dessert, the food was beyond good; it was fantastic. It's a 12 yr old business run by the chef/owner & his wife. We went on a friday night at 6. We ate at a comfortable bar seat due to full house. The bartender, Melody knew her job & made perfect mixed drinks. She was also our server. We were served in a timly manner & left after an un-rushed hour. Our meal consisted of bleu cheese apple salad, she crab soup, filet done to perfection with potato & asparagus. Dessert was key-lime pie (delicious) & crem brule (slurp). Including 4 bar drinks, total was $105 and worth every penny. We did not know this place was in Wilson. We took a friend here for his birthday. It was a first visit for all three (3) of us. We're didn't have reservations, but since we were early and on a Thursday we were quickly seated. Reservations are recommended by the way. Service was excellent. The food was very good. I tried the shrimp and grits since that's a favorite of mine. They used the grit cake approach. It was very tasty with lots of flavor. Desserts all around were good. This was definitely one of the most disappointing dinners we have encountered in a really long time. I bragged about this spot to my guy for months. We finally got reservations, and I was really excited that Saturday at 6:30 was here. Our initial encounter was with Yasmine. She didn't even look at us as she said, " I will be right with you ladies," one male, and one female stood in front of her. Next was a doozey. We were met with a very rude young lady- Emerson. Wow! Customer Service is definitely not her strong suit. We asked for lemons, and we got three of the smallest slices of lemons imaginable. She brought bread, but she placed the bread at the side of the table where we were not seated. Finally, CJ came to take our order. No she crab soup, no soup du jour, just tomato basil. We wanted neither. We ordered our entrees and sat and sat and sat! It was 7:40, when our entrees came out. The crab cakes were " just ok", was it crab meat or krab meat? It's wasn't palatable at all. Coleslaw was the best on that plate. My pasta dish was ok, nothing amazing, but it was hot. Nothing was amazing at Daniel's tonight. My husband and I are new to the Wilson area and were looking for an upscale, yet affordable place to have dinner. Daniel's Casual Fine Dining was exactly what we were looking for. I had the pecan crusted chicken, which came with mashed potatoes and green beans. My husband had the brisket quesadillas. Both meals were fantastic and affordable. Delicious and superb, quality ingredients! What a treasure to have Daniel and his delicacies right here in Wilson. I got a little worried when I Googled "Best restaurants in Wilson" and it gave me Cracker Barrel. But I see what is happening here, Google wants to keep Daniel's a secret, it is so excellent they would be over-run and the locals would not have a chance to enjoy his amazing, awe-inspiring "American Fare" Located in an unassuming strip mall, near Food Lion, is some of the best food I have had since moving to NC in 2011. And I am no stranger to a good meal! Wherever I am and Seared Ahi is on the menu, I must partake. This does not disappoint. Finely seared and encrusted with fine sesame seeds, drizzled with a ginger sauce along side an Asian slaw, I never eat the slaw, I think of it as decoration, but this was skillfully dressed with a flavor that should be bottled! I ate it all, even as a few pieces of ginger slipped in. What a delightful surprise! I had the Salmon special, expertly cooked, seasoned to perfection. A HUGE filet, lounging on a bed of buttery sautéed spinach and roasted mini potatoes, gently topped with finely sliced crispy onions. The Lemmon butter on the potatoes perfectly married with the Salmon filet, Genius! My mom enjoyed a grilled shrimp, skewer with cocktail sauce as an appetizer and their scrumptious Grilled pork-chop with "Brandied Apples". Fluffy garlic potatoes and red cabbage. She remarked how delicious everything was and how she has never had her favorite red cabbage anywhere but a German restaurant and it was fantastic! My niece, kept it light and had their Greek Salad as an entree, piled high with crumbled feta and a wonderful dressing! Even the bread was divine, crusty loaf pieces with a warm pillowy center, served warm with butter and an oil and vinegar dipping plate. And for the finale! OH MY WORD, the dessert list read like a 5 Star "Favorites List" He's a smarty, that Daniel! I did not see a dessert menu on-line but we asked about it early on, it was a challenge saving room after very generously sized entrees, but we were up for the challenge. The Crème Brûlée was the epic "mic-drop" of the evening. Large portioned ramekin with a solid hard shell of fired sugar protecting the luxurious crème below. I ate it slowly to savor every last bite, but I did share. Oh La, La that was expertly crafted! Key Lime pie and Tiramisu were house-made and lovely as well. The key-lime had the perfect zing of sour. The tiramisu I will have to try another time, too good to share! My niece paired her finale, which I thought was fitting, with an Espresso Martini, hold onto your hats folks, that was a warm cozy dessert in a cup. Liquid Love, really. Wow! Lastly, but certainly not to be overlooked. The service, Evie was wonderful, they were busy and she was very attentive! Brit's do know good service and she was delightful! Ask for her when you go! The restaurant could spiff up the decor which we found was bland. But the bottom line regardless of decor is great food served hot and that's what we got! So happy to have lunch in a locally-owned restaurant in the Shoppes at Brentwood! I tried their special sandwich of the day which was Caribbean Chicken Jerk topped with a grilled pineapple slice & shredded lettuce served on a brioche bun. The jerk sauce was perfection and the chicken was tender & juicy! It's definitely worth a repeat. Only problem was I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture. Guess you'll just have to take my word & try it for yourself! I chose the sweet potato fries as my side, and they didn't disappoint either. They were shoestring size & perfectly fried. Crispy on the outside & tender on the inside. Just a whole lot of happy in my mouth! Dad got the bacon cheddar burger cook medium well. I prefer my medium rare, but I could tell it was still tender and juicy. I guess he really liked it, because her ate it all! Service at Daniel's is always Southern Friendly. Those of you from around here will know what that means, and it's a good thing! Nice menu with something for everyone. I had the duck breast which they cooked to my specifications of rare to medium rare. It was excellent and came with a generous portion of green beans and potatoes. My wife had a Caesar salad with a crab cake which was good but not great. The drinks were good as was the service. Fabulous Traveling from Florida to PA we stopped for an over night in Wilson NC. Searching Yelp we stumbled on Daniel's- What a great jewel. We were greeted by the Hostess Evey, who was most accommodating, friendly & sweet young woman. Our waiter Christian was very knowledgeable & the most helpful with the menu. We indulged in small plates, cup of house special tomato soup & beet salad onto grilled shrimp, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, beet salad, ahi tuna, wine & cocktail, topped with cream brûlée - all was outstanding. Visited with my family for a nice evening out. I had heard many good things about the food and service. Our server was very friendly and was very attentive. The roasted beet and fried goat cheese salad was delicious. I would recommend this and the wine board appetizer. Our entrees were just ok. There was inconsistencies with flavors and cooking. The fillet was over seared and almost burned on the outside, but the inside was beautifully cooked. The pork chop was over seasoned and the duck breast was over cooked. The garlic mashed potatoes lacked garlic and tasted like instant potatoes. The atmosphere was amazing. This is the place all the locals seem to eat. We picked it from Yelp while passing through on the way to the whirligig park. When we arrived, nobody acknowledged us for a longggg time. Finally I chased somebody down and asked if we should seat ourselves, and was informed that they would seat us. They didn't say when. We waited several more minutes and eventually somebody cleaned off a high-top in the bar area. The menu is about as traditional-southern as you can get. (Veggies beware--there is not a single meatless entree or sandwich on the menu. Not one.) Once we were seated and waited a few more minutes, our waitress appeared and was very friendly and helpful. Absolutely fantastic! Girls outing on Saturday August 5th, we happened on this spot and we could not have found a better place to eat before our 7 pm show. The service was awesome and the food and drinks were both very good. I had a French Martini - best I have had in a long time, my dinner was a cup of she crab soup, came out piping hot and delicious. I also ordered a salad and added the beef tenderloin, exceptional presentation and the meat was cooked to perfection! One of my girlfriend's order the Cajun Pasta w/ Chicken and added Shrimp. We all sampled and it did not fail. The sauce was delectable. We approved!! My other two girls ordered the crab cake and they both said the crab cakes were all meat no fillers. Score! Surprisingly good with exceptional waitress. I'm sad I forgot her name, she's the young gal always walking around with a smile. We ordered the French dip and wings. The French dip was the best I have ever had and that's saying a lot since we have been all over the state. This use to always be my go to menu item and this place does not disappoint. First off it's very lean meat in the best French baguette so crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Held up well the the au jus. The wings were surprisingly battered lightly and cooked to perfection. Totally worth the one hour drive. We can't stop talking about this place. People next to us we're a bit disappointed in their meal, the lady's crab cake was burnt but she didn't complain and ate it anyways. We on the other hand ordered the best things on the menu. We went here for Valentine's Day and it was spectacular. We didn't have reservations and were first told they were pretty booked, but that we could keep our eyes on the bar area for an opening. We figured we'd try that out and if it got to be too late, we'd try another place. Within 10 minutes we were offered a table because of cancellations. Immediately greeted by our lovely waitress and prompt service. Delicious, warm bread to start. Our food came out in a timely manner and was cooked to perfection. Made a reservation here for 6 and was able to have the "Round Table" This is a great spot in Wilson, NC which though the selection of restaurants is limited most of the independents in the area are good, Daniels is no exception. The service here is top notch, the menu is diverse and the Duck I ordered, superb. The chef at this establishment knows how to prepare a Duck dish.
