I have finally found my holy grail stylist in Austin! This salon is in a great location with its own private small lot to park in the back. I have curly hair and had an appointment with Mickey the owner. I have never enjoyed a hair appointment as much as I did that day. I felt I was heard and understood when it came to my request for my hair. I had gone to several other scientists in the city and was not really happy with the results. I understand curly hair is not the easiest to work with, therefore finding a stylist like Mickey or a salon like Swoon is a treasure. Not only did I receive amazing service, I was not pushed to buy products. I purchased products because I was low on certain items but no one pressured me into making a purchase. On the contrary the owner Mickey said she doesn't like to be wasteful, and if we have products at home still she encourages us to wait until they're done. I got my haircut here by Michelle about a month ago and it was a great experience. My friend recommended Michelle to me as we have curly/wavy hair that we haven't always had the easiest time finding the right cut for. I offered Cherryl a general idea about what I wanted and she delivered a sweet platinum pixie! She was very receptive of my desire for a low maintenance cut, and talked me through all of the steps in her process while giving style and product guidance. Cherryl and the other Swoon stylists create a refreshing, low-key atmosphere that isn't always common in salons. This is a review for Lauren who does my hair and Gabe who cuts my boyfriend's hair. LAUREN IS THE WONDER WOMAN TO MY HAIR! I have fine, curly hair, and I've never found anyone who can tackle my mop without either frying it (and scalp) or giving me a haircut that ends up making me look like the shape of a Christmas tree. I found Lauren 4-5 years ago when she was working at Wet Salon on SoCo and I fell in love with her. Not only is she a Hair Goddess, her energy, personality and attention to detail has made me come back over and over and following her to Swoon (which is the cutest, coziest little salon everrrrr and everyone who works there is so friendly) I've never stuck with the same stylist more than a couple of times because it's so hard to find someone who really understands curly hair, especially mine since I'm completely challenged when it comes to hair products, styling my hair and I do a really crappy job of taking care of it ‍, but Lauren is always there to save the day. She's done everything from correcting the brassiness I had as a platinum blonde, to toning it down to a dirty blonde bayalage, handling the unfortunate postpartum hair loss after baby, and even making my hair look like the mane of a My Little Pony . I'm moving out of state next week and I'm so bummed I'm going to have to find another stylist. Lauren makes getting my hair done enjoyable. But when he does see Gabe, he has done a fantastic job on Holden's hair. Since my man has the Ron Swanson mentality, he believes that a hair cut should cost no more than $10 or do it yourself. Well, he finally found out that a cheap men's hair cut ends up giving you layers like a girl and making one side of his hair shorter than the other. Not gonna lie, I really enjoyed picking on him for a couple of months until a his hair grew back out.
