    Pasta Bolognese
    Kimberly D.

At first, we didn't realize this was in the lobby of a hotel... not like it mattered, but finding it took a minute. It was really nice on the inside and we opted to sit at the bar. Our drink order was taken immediately, unfortunately though we did have to ask if somebody was planning on taking our meal order. There were plenty of people working, I just think sometimes they just assume you're not there to have dinner. We both ended up ordering the pasta Bolognese and it was quite enjoyable. I'm not always a fan of garlic bread, but the bread that they put with this was so delicious and soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside. I would order this again just to have that. The drinks are very good as well. We both had the happy hour margarita to start and it was the perfect mix not too sweet or too sour. Overall, I would absolutely come back, the only real issue is parking, but it's not something they could help. Just something to keep in mind if you come at a busy time.

This is what we were given, after asking, after waiting for over 35 minutes for our food.

I'm not in the habit of shredding businesses, but sometimes it's warranted. We've been to SwitcHouse for two of our last three Mother'Days, and the service and food had been pretty good. Enough that my wife asked to come here again. Our reservation for six was at 1. We were seated at about 1:12, and a server came by within a few minutes to get drink orders. The waitress told us that it was busy, so meals may be slow coming out. Ok, it's Mother's Day and the place is full - I get it. After half an hour (not exaggerating), we had to pull her aside to take our lunch order. She had actually attended to a larger table seated after us first. After half an hour, of complete inattention, we flagged her down and asked where our food was. She said our ticket was still hanging. We asked for some bread or crackers or something, and she brought us a handful of crackers. She could not say how long our meal was going to take. During this time, we noticed meals actually being returned; we heard one server say the fish was cold. By 50 minutes of waiting, we called a nearby restaurant to ask their wait and they could take us immediately. At 2:50, we got up, I told a manger we were tired of waiting and were leaving. I offered to pay for the one iced tea and OJ, but she just apologized and said, "don't worry about it." I threw a fiver on the table and left. This is just bad management, pure and simple. They knew it was Mother's Day. They knew what their reservations looked like. They did not plan accordingly for the crowd. Obviously, their kitchen was overwhelmed, their servers had really large sections. No manager was circulating to apologize for the wait and offer complimentary desserts, discounted meals, free mimosas or anything. Across the street, we saw another party who was sitting at the table next to us, had also left. We had a little chuckle about the horrid service and then enjoyed some good Mediterranean food. I definitely won't return or recommend.

Our next family food adventure take us to Switch house inside of Houston city place Marriott with a category 4.2 and more than 385 reviews this restaurant grill Inspired by the railway tradition and nature of the region, SwitcHouse Plates & Pours offers food with a focus on iron, oak, and smoke in a casually elegant paired with upscale rustic decor. Our waiter Amy very friendly, helpful and always coming over to see how everything was, for that reason I think the customer service was incredibly first class. But the important thing here was the food coming warn and delicious, the presentation of every plate is like the food talking to us eat me and enjoy. Thanks to the chef or the staff working in the Kicthen we really enjoy eating at the Switchuose tonight.

I stayed at the Marriott for a work trip (really nice hotel btw) and we had a customer dinner at switchouse, and it was a really nice dinner. First the place is pretty, they have great decoration for the holidays, nice touches everywhere. Second the food was actually really good, I had the filet mignon and it was delish. It comes with green beans, mash potato and a mushroom. I don't care for that kind of mushroom and the sides were a little small but enough for me. The Cesar salad was super delish and a huge plate. The French 75 was meh.. and I took a star off because the prices are pretty high. $52 for the filet hurt. If it wasn't for work paying, I wouldn't spend that. Overall a great dinner, in a beautiful ambiance, and a really nice attentive waitress.

It's an absolute treasure when there is an eatery in your home away from home stay that serves up some good bites. Popped in here on my last night at the CityPlace Marriott and came with a hankering for a burger. Boy did they deliver. I sadly have no idea the name of my burger as it was a newer menu or maybe seasonal so I cannot locate it on their website. It was a steak burger cooked medium rare paired with fresh tomato, arugula, aioli, and a black seasame bun, with a side of sweet potato fries. Also had a taste of the Dirty fries appetizer, a definite recommend if you're looking for something to go along with a couple brews. The brisket and queso while incredibly messy make this a great pairing to throw a few back to. Service was stellar and personable. The ambience is great for a girls night out or in if your guests of the hotel.

I was a little disappointed with switch house. The food + drinks were just ok and pretty expensive.I went on a Tuesday after work and it was completely empty. We got the dirty fries and conductors queso. Both apps were pretty good but they didn't blow me away. I preferred the dirty fries personally. I also got a mezcalita and it was pretty good & strong. The service was really good though. Shoutout to our waiter.

Late night dinner meal. Trying to cut out the carbs so this was my protein friendly dinner. Salmon had great flavor but I asked for well done so I had to send it back. The Brussels never disappoint, but a lot for one person. The service is always great and the food remains consistent.

We got in to the Houston area pretty late and were looking for a place to eat near our hotel. Conveniently, SwitcHouse was inside of our hotel. As far as hotel bar/restaurants go, this is a pretty decent one. I decided to just get the smokehouse sample platter as a meal and was surprised at how much food I actually got. Unfortunately, a lot of it was pretty bland. I would've liked more flavor elements outside of the neutrals, but this is obviously not designed to be all eaten by one person. Outside of this, the service could've been better, as our waitress disappeared for extended periods when we could've used another beer.

This is the ham and cheese croissant!

The location is a great new spot! Easy to get to in front door parking. The Gruyère & ham croissant sandwich was delicious. The best part was the flavor of the Dijon mustard. The atmosphere is nice counter service so it was pretty quick only 15 min wait for food. Couldn't decide, so I got a side of both the tomato bisque and French onion soups! Each team had a good flavor while the French onion wasn't the traditional cheesy soup. I would probably pick that one over the tomato basil next time. Service was friendly and overall this is a quick place to get in and out if you don't have a lot of time and you want a nice meal! I was impressed and I will be back.

    Bolonese Pasta

Came here with some friends over the weekend who were from out of town and recommended this spot. My friend grabbed a Queso dip for an appetizer. I believe it had chopped brisket & some grilled veggies in it. It was just ok, nothing special. Additionally, they only brought a handful of chips. Definitely wasn't enough chips to accommodate the dip. I grabbed the bolognese pasta for my meal. First bite, I thought it was pretty good. As I continued eating, it just tasted average. Flavors were good but nothing spectacular. Service could've been better. Our waitress couldn't really understand us, language barrier. I asked to sample one of the beers on draft, she came back with a whole glass; fortunately it was good. On top of that, they were out of a lot of stuff they had listed on their menu. Ok place but I don't have to come back.

My cousin and I were searching for a brunch spot nearby. This place has a good rating. It is inside of the Marriott in a cute little shopping district with other food venues. We were seated immediately by the window. Chris was our waiter and he was great. The ambiance was nice and the service was super fast. We had mimosas with pineapple juice. I will definitely visit again when I am in town.

Great bar. Service can be slow. I was only here getting Old Fashions, three times for three drinks !! Cheers !! The bar and dining area were clean, and the staff was very professional. Several folks were eating but I never saw a menu so I can't tell you what they offer. Be warned, Old Fashions are $20 !!! Holy Crap !!!

The indoor seating area has a cool, relaxed vibe, and I sat in a comfortable booth. I also loved the wall decorated with hat. They specialize in a variety of bruschetta boards, which is what I was most excited to try. Some of the bruschetta options were just okay on their own, and I think a little balsamic reduction or a drizzle of olive oil would have added more flavor. My recommendations are the Sweet & Spicy Pepper Jam with Goat Cheese and the Burrata Bruschetta with arugula and tomatoes. Soooo good! The wines were amazing, and I loved that I was able to sample a few before deciding what to order. We went all-in on the desserts, and every single one was outstanding. The chocolate pie was rich, velvety, and deeply satisfying--perfectly balanced sweetness with a flaky crust that melted in my mouth. The pecan pie was a Texas classic done right: loaded with crunchy, fresh pecans in a gooey, caramel-like filling that tasted incredibly fresh and homemade. And the cream puffs covered in chocolate? Absolute perfection--light, airy pastry filled with luscious cream and generously draped in silky chocolate ganache. Each bite was a delightful contrast of textures and flavors. The portions are generous, the quality is top-notch (fresh, no preservatives, old-fashioned goodness), and the bakery case full of options made it hard to stop at just these. It's the ideal spot for anyone with a serious sweet tooth--whether dining in for that cozy atmosphere or grabbing treats to go. The selection of pies is incredible. Honestly, I can't think of anywhere in the Dallas area that offers this kind of variety. If you're a pie lover, this place feels like paradise. The highlight of our visit was the Strawberry Rhubarb Pie. In all my years living in Texas, I don't think I've ever seen strawberry rhubarb pie offered at a restaurant. It was absolutely amazing, especially when paired with a scoop of ice cream. We also tried the Chocolate Cream Pie, French Black Bottom Pie, and Coconut Cream Pie, and every single one was excellent. Each pie had a fresh, homemade quality that made it easy to see why this place has such a loyal following. The food was fresh, hot, and served promptly. Beyond the food, the customer service was outstanding. The staff was attentive, friendly, polite, and genuinely seemed to care about providing a great experience. It's becoming increasingly rare to find that level of service, and it made a positive impression on us. The overall experience reminded me of Marie Callender's, but with better food and a much larger personality. There's a nostalgic charm to House of Pies that makes you want to stay a little longer and save room for another slice. The only thing preventing me from giving a full five-star review is the non-transparent service fee. I would much rather see menu prices increased by 2-3% and have the fee eliminated altogether. The final cost would be the same, but the pricing would feel more straightforward and customer-friendly. That minor criticism aside, House of Pies was one of the highlights of our trip to Houston. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu and, of course, more pie.
