I would not recommend this place. We've been bringing our kids here for the past 3 years, and this…read morewas by far the worst experience. Before scheduling the appointments, I asked the front desk three separate times to confirm that both of my children's eye exams would be covered by insurance. They repeatedly confirmed they were covered. Even when we checked in, no one mentioned any issue. After the exams, however, they told me at checkout that one child was still within the one-year period and that I had to pay the medical exam fee. If there was a problem with the insurance eligibility, they should have informed me before the appointment or before the doctor saw my child--not after everything was finished. To make matters worse, the second exam felt incomplete. The doctor only looked at the photos that had been taken, said there was no vision change, and did not perform a manual vision check. When I explained that their staff had confirmed coverage multiple times, no one apologized. The doctor came out looking upset but offered no explanation or acknowledgment of the staff's mistake. There was also confusion about my vision insurance. The front desk insisted that my insurance would not cover frames. Since I have a PPO vision plan, I went home and called my insurance company myself. They confirmed the office is in-network and that my plan includes up to a $150 frame allowance. When I called the office back, they admitted they had checked incorrectly and said my frames actually were covered. The lack of communication, inaccurate insurance information, and poor customer service made this a very frustrating experience. There are plenty of other eye care providers nearby that are more organized and respectful of their patients' time. I won't be returning.

The initial exam for glaucoma and retina was very thorough, handled professionally and much better than I'd previously experienced. Then Dr. Nguyen came in to do the exam and check my eyesight. WOW! He was exceedingly thorough and to make certain that the results from the "viewer" were accurate, did a manual eye vision test (lenses in a glasses holder) to double check that what I saw through that "viewer" were accurate. Between the two I was in there for 45 minutes. Well spent 45 minutes. Then went to the area to work with the optician to order the exact lenses for my glasses. Overall, the experience was EXCELLENT and I highly recommend Lighthouse, if you want to make sure that your vision is good without problems.

I was informed Dr. Nguyen was in as it was when the clinic opened. I requested a call back. I never received the call back, the young lady that initially took my request "never even put the request on to the doctor. But I've still not gotten my request confirmed. This is a mess, I will be finding someone else in the future.

Someone arrived five seconds before me (of course her appointment was set for 10 minutes after mine as doctors do, they set appointments back to back and then they can't fulfill those timeslots so you wait forever). The front desk told me that I'd be going after that person, since it wasn't fair to her that I arrived late. But we were both gonna wait in the waiting room for a really long time anyway. It wouldn't have mattered, which is what I tried to communicate. I disagreed with how they handled the situation and chose to reschedule my appointment. They proceeded to tell lies about me to the doctor and send me a letter telling me that I can no longer be a patient there. I've always thought the staff had way too much authority in this office, this confirms it. They were definitely on a power trip! Please stay away from this place.

I was disappointed in the selection of frames they had (seem mediocre), as I had seen a couple of frames online that I liked, and this place had nothing that resembled either. Overall, my new pair of glasses cost me over $700 (I did get the "extras" regarding the lenses). This is on me, of course, because nobody forced me to pull the trigger on the purchase. Just saying, though, that I believe the "mark-up" on glasses here is pretty steep. Just my luck, I received a coupon in the mail 1 week later from JC Penney for a 60% discount. I've purchased glasses there before, and I was pleased. Oh, well. Live and learn.

Exceptional Vision Care & Compassionate Expertise - Why I Trust Dr. Gulrez Khoja in Plano, TX…read moreI've been a loyal patient here for nearly five years, and every single visit reminds me why I'll never trust anyone else with my vision health. From the moment you step into the office, you're greeted like family by a team that's warm, professional, and genuinely invested in your well-being. The environment is modern and welcoming, but it's the human connection that makes this place extraordinary. Unlike many healthcare providers today, Dr. Khoja takes the time to truly listen. She doesn't just glance over charts--she dives deep into understanding your unique concerns. Because of my family history of eye disease, she's carefully monitored my vision for the last 2.5 years, keeping detailed progress reports and scheduling regular exams every six months. That kind of proactive, personalized care is something you rarely find anymore! Recently, I faced an entirely new health challenge: I'm preparing to start chemotherapy. While my medical team has been focused on the obvious concerns, it was Dr. Khoja who brought up a critical point that no one else had--how chemo can affect my vision. Thanks to her foresight, we established a baseline eye health assessment before my treatments even begin. This way, we'll know exactly how my vision is impacted and have options ready if corrective action is needed later. Who else thinks of that level of care? It's rare to find a doctor who combines world-class expertise with such a deep level of compassion. Dr. Khoja is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist, an expert in managing complex conditions like keratoconus, surgical complications, and specialized contact lens fittings. She also cares for children's vision needs and provides advanced treatments like Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT). Beyond her impressive credentials, she makes every patient feel seen, heard, and cared for. That's the kind of doctor everyone deserves but so few actually find. If you're in Plano, TX or nearby, do yourself a favor--make an appointment with Dr. Khoja. Whether you need routine vision care, help managing complex conditions, or simply want a provider who will advocate for your overall health, you won't find a more compassionate and capable expert. (Photo with Dr. Khoja attached because some moments in life deserve to be remembered!) Gratefully, Mark D.
