My contacts wasn't fitting correctly and it was just poor customer experience. Tried to work it out with them to see if they will fix the problem but that was not something they wanted to do. We have been going to Plano Eye for years and inside a week they destroyed the entire relationship over 371 dollars. That's what my old frames cost. It used to be the case I could order lenses, they'd send them out, and when they get back Reggie, the man, the myth, the legend, could customize my tints... they used to work with people who knew what they were doing, and if they screwed up, they owned it. I'm probably going to get the standard "We're sorry you feel that way" blah blah followed by "But you signed the waiver and we gave you a choice". You're right. I signed the waiver. Sure. Shame on me for thinking you wouldn't actually choose a lab that would fail 1 out of 1 times. But that's not the first frame I've provided you from outside. The fact that you suddenly require a waiver means you know the new lab you chose screws up, and yet instead of eating the cost of those screwups you pass them on to the customer. You *chose* to do that. To try to make up for my utter disappointment, you offered me "gifted" frames that are less than half the price of the frames your lab broke, and that didn't bother you (and considering how much of a markup they are, that's not a gift at all). Without blinking, you let a long time customer go and that was enough to tell me where your priorities lie. read more

I had been going to them for years, but will never go again. I made an appointment for my routine annual vision exam at 11 a.m. which comes free with my Medicare advantage plan. As I was leaving I was told I had a $45 co-pay. I argued that it was free, but was told they had made a new medical diagnosis, cataracts, (I was told the same thing last year and both times was told surgery is not needed yet as they are small). I paid as she was insistent and I didn't want to cause a scene, also I wanted my new prescription. Checking with insurance, I later learned that they had made a claim to my vision insurance as well as my medical insurance - after they made a referral for a long doctor office visit after I had already left the premises with a female doctor I did not see. They cheated on my insurance and Medicare. I will never go there again. read more

WARNING: Do not be fooled by the positive reviews. This location was recommended through our insurance and we were excited due to the positive feedback. Plano Eye Associates however has provided an absolutely terrible experience. After scheduling an eye examination appointment, the doctor was over 50 minutes late before providing the in-depth exam. When finally arriving, the appointment was extremely rushed as another reviewer points out, and the doctor did not take the time to explain the prescription details for someone new at the location and who is receiving glasses for the first time. Following the appointment, glasses were ordered that were not the right prescription and that arrived scratched and damaged. The location then advised to come in for another eye examination check, and once arrived proceeded to mention needing the glasses for a glasses check after mentioning and emailing that this would be another eye exam to replace the first one and not documenting that glasses would be needed. When inquiring for an eye examination refund they advised they could not do that because they preformed the service and were completely unapologetic. Please avoid the hassle. Filter to the low reviews that showcase the same lack of professionalism and headache and go to another location that values getting it right the first time as well as their customer's time and satisfaction. read more

Dr. Castleberry is terrific, but this place needs someone to fix the operations and weed out the doctors. I have been going for years and always used Dr. Castleberry. But as he is now so booked, I tried a different doctor for my severe dry eyes. After checking me she recommended what she called an IPL treatment and I said if she'd look at my records she'd see I'd already tried those and they didn't work, but that I'd tried an RF treatment a long time ago and got some relief. So we booked an RF Treatment. When I went for it, I was told it often takes 3 or 4 treatments and they can be 6 months apart. After 2 months I still had lots of burning and so I went back to the same doctor for a follow up. She looked at me and suggested a couple of products to use (she forgot to give me a printout so I don't know what they were) and said I could try another RF but I'd already had 2. I said no, I'd had 1. She argued with me until I proved to her she hadn't looked closely at my record and she was thinking I'd had one in Jan '26, but it was actually Jan '25. So she booked a second one. Then when I showed up and they had me back in the chair, I realized they were prepping me for an IPL, not an RF. I don't know whether the doctor was simply careless in the booking, or decided to book an IPL not having looked at my records. Either way, the carelessness is very disquieting. And their website will no longer recognize my email or password, and there is no way to correct it without just calling them. For a group with such advanced eye technology, the website is truly pathetic. read more

We moved to Plano right before the 'Rona visited... so I'd put off going to the eye doctor. Now that things are back to somewhat normal, I needed to get that done. Dr. Widjaja had the first appointment, and I'm so glad she did. She was thorough in listening to my complicated history, and my concerns about my last pair of glasses, and worked to figure out what the issue was and how to resolve it with my new prescription. She also was able to fit me in contacts as an option other optometrists had told me wasn't an option for a couple of decades now. I was VERY happy with how thorough she was. The tech assisting her (didn't catch his name) was awesome as well. Very friendly and thorough. I also want to give a shout-out to the optical shop. Madison tracked down and special ordered frames based on a rough description of some frames I had several years ago that I really liked, because nothing in house was very similar. I didn't know the brand, the right terms, or anything, and the only picture I had was not terribly helpful. But she somehow found EXACTLY what I was looking for. She's super personable and knowledgeable. My new glasses haven't come in yet, but I have every confidence they'll be great (I'll update my review if they're not, but don't wait on it...) and if there are any minor issues, I'm very certain Madison will get them sorted out. This is why I am willing to pay the slightly higher cost for glasses in a brick-and-mortar optical shop vs. an online one. Especially once you have bifocals or a complicated or high index prescription, the cost difference between online and in-person is not that much, and the personal touch is *so* important to getting the best result. Loved my overall experience with Plano eye associates! I had Dr Nguyen and she was extremely nice and thorough. I did have to come back to get a different contact prescription only because my previous doctor gave me the wrong prescription. They got me in on the same day I called which was superb! We are working to get my eyes back to "normal". The place was modern and very clean. The only con I can think of is the patient portal website. It definitely needs to be updated with user friendly features such as save username/password and does not scale down to perform on mobile devices. Definitely use a desktop! read more

Attractive facility. Not so attractive staff. Was annoyed at the doctors reluctance to provide information on astigmatism. Front desk did not inquire if I wanted contacts or glasses and clearly explain benefit coverage. Front desk was more than difficult when I requested a hard contact prescription. This office was insistent on emphasizing what they could not do to meet the customers needs with little attention to what they could do. After driving to an unnecessary appointment and hearing the doctors concerns (completely unrelated to mine). I found out my question could have been answered over the phone. Today, Jan 3, 2024 - had the most frustrating experiences with their incompetent spacey staff. A simple request to pick up sample contact lenses warranted their clueless rude behavior. I speak to a technician- Ashley - to let her know I need sample lens while awaiting my order to come in. She puts me on hold for 4 mins and the phone disconnects. I call back (call #2) and get the front desk receptionist - another 'ashley' and she transfers me again to the technicians in the back - the phone rings then disconnects. hhmmm. I call back (call #3), bad luck for me, I get this ashley again. I explain the line disconnected and I wasn't able to speak to anyone back there. Before I could ask her to either try again or if I could leave my information and if someone can call me back. She immediately starts whining about how she doesn't personally know who I spoke with, it is impossible for her to figure it out and I interrupted her to let her know - this is a clinic and there are not that many technicians back there. IF you were to put some effort into asking them who was looking up a sample Rx for a client that was on hold, I am sure one of the females would speak up. Furthermore, her attitude was very off putting as if she could not be bothered to do her job. I wanted to ensure she knew that there was a solution if she decided to take that initiative. I proceeded to ask if I could leave my name and number and if she could make sure the technicians get the message so 'someone' can call me back. Unbelievable, she starts whining again about how she would not know who was helping me, etc... I asked her to just try transferring me again. Then a technician picks up and immediately starts to tell me that they did not have samples in the brand of contacts I wanted. I was puzzled on how this person knew it was me on the line. I then asked her name and it was Ashley, the technician. I told her it would have been more pleasant if she would have started her comments off with the fact that I was on hold for 4 mins, lines disconnecting - but no one has nothing to say about that. I hang up. I call the front desk and ask to speak to the office manager Lynn or the Medical Director. I left my number for a call back as they both were 'with patients'.. hhmmm So I will hopefully get a call back to make them aware of this situation so future customers do not have to go through the horrible customer service experience I did. They are inept and incompetent at their jobs. I do have a plan B, of course. Being in healthcare myself, I am trying to ensure the right folks know b/c sometimes they don't. I will know once I speak with either of them or not if there is no call back. They can give me samples of the previous brand of contact lens in the meantime until the new brand supply it delivered to me to hold me over. Unfortunately, the one track mind of this Ashley technician does not allow her to use intelligence and thinking out of the box to find reasonable solution for the client. I am currently wearing the previous brand lens that I am switching from... smh. Sad staff that leaves alot to be desired. update - I just read other reviews that had the exact same complaint as I did with regards to the rude staff and a few reviews stated they never got a call back from the office mgr nor Dr. Castleberry. So I've adjusted my expectations and absolutely do not expect any call back and have been assured they must know about their staff's inappropriate behavior. So the childish behavior is supported from what I've read. Potential future customers - DO NOT COME TO THIS PRACTICE. When you need something, you will encounter issues. Save your money and time. I have always been impressed with the beauty of Plano Eye Associates, the professionalism, and the technology. Recently, some family members went to their eye doctor and were searching ahead for rides home. When they told me they were concerned about being dilated, I felt like I had stepped into 1970 or something. Doctors still do that? That's when I knew I had really been spoiled by a doctor who always seems to be bragging (in the brochures) about brand new technology being used in my office visits! Then I was even more impressed. Call me crazy, but the doctors only push certain brands of contacts. I keep asking for some other brand to try because mine are so irritating but being cutting edge doctors, I keep being told I already have the best. Well, sign me up for the worst, please? Maybe my eyes don't want to be so spoiled! Not finding me comfy contact lenses caused this review to teeter between 4 and 5 but the customer service can't be denied! These people treat everyone like their long lost cousins showing up to a family reunion with grandma's pie! The opticians say things like, "I heard you came in last week and I was so sad I missed you! I'm so happy you came in today while I'm here." Really? Dr. DeMaggio is friendly, professional, really knows her stuff, AND her patients. The Opticians (Reggie, Erica, Nina, and Cheyenne) are fantastic! They always know what I need (and like) better than I do, and they never try to sell me anything I don't need or would ever want. Dr Tran is very professional doctor and he sounds very knowledgeable. Staffs are courteous as well Optical Store: one of the BEST! Went to LensCrafters and Visionworks - they are either short-staffed, arrogant and show no interest at all in their job. Also, those store will not match your maximum allowable in your insurance. For example, they only match up to 70% of your allowable. On the other hand Plano Eye Associates not only match the full amount, they even give you 20% off the price difference (if it's more than your allowable). They are courteous, efficient and make sure you feel comfortable during the whole process . Went in at 5pm and left the store at 5:20pm. AMAZING!!!! My glasses broke and I am blind as a bat, I was freaking out! I came to PEA at 12pm, Dr Tran gave me an eye exam, got a new prescription and glasses all within the hour, I was out of there by 1:15. I was so incredibly impressed, they took care of me and made me feel special. After getting LASIK a few years back I didn't think I would step foot in an optometry office again. Not for a very long while, anyway. However, I was recently broke my sunglasses and needed to buy another pair before going on vacation. One of my friends suggested that I come here. I asked him why here instead of your standard Sunglass Hut or the like. He reassured me that Plano Eye Associates would take good care of me. Still feeling a bit skeptical, I relented. When I got there, Jessica quickly greeted me and asked how she could help. I told her that I was just looking for a pair of nonprescription shades and she walked me over to a display where most of the sunglasses were. She asked which ones I would like to take a closer look at and try on so I chose a couple. She even picked out some that she thought would work well with my face. Lo and behold those frames worked out much better than the ones I had selected and I ended going with one she picked. Once the frame was chose she made adjustments to the nose pads and temple tips to fit my face perfectly. Jessica was very patient and helpful throughout the process of picking out the perfect frame for me. She never tried to push the most expensive frames on me and I ended up getting shades that I was very happy with. In case you were wondering, I checked the price of the same sunglasses online and found some outlets that advertised cheaper prices. However, at a brick and mortar shop you get to try on the frames before you purchase them (HUGE pro in my opinion) and unless you have tools to modify your frame to where it fits perfectly on your face, going in to a physical shop is worth the extra couple of bucks. read more

First off, let me start off by saying I didn't get the opportunity to go through my appointment. The reasons are as follow. I had booked an appointment two weeks prior for today, Saturday, at 12. I also made the decision to prioritize this appointment over a schedule change in a basketball league I play in, meaning I had to miss my team's game. When I got to the office, there were no cars. I go to the front door and see a sign stating that due to some electrical issues, the office had closed early. WTF? You couldn't send an email or phone call informing me of this? What did you guys do? Just pack your bags and leave? Unless there was a fire or all your systems crashed, that's very unprofessional, and I hope I was the only one to drive through and experience this. So yeah, I'm annoyed. Not only did I miss my team's game, but I wasted time driving to this place (due to the great Yelp reviews) for no reason. A simple email/phone call would have saved me so much time and would have also resulted in me making my team's game. I just started going here and I'm glad I did. The office is beautiful and you don't have to fill out paperwork upon your arrival (even though I was new)! I saw Dr. Tran and he was awesome. Professional and thorough. The technology they have is stuff I had never seen before. There was almost none of that "1 or 2" stuff that always seemed like it went on forever at other places. Here it was like 2 minutes and boom. Done. Once I had my RX I went out to shop for glasses and the staff acted like personal shoppers to me.
