A couple of weeks later, I received a text saying they were ready for pickup. When I arrived, only one pair was actually available. I left and waited another two weeks before following up. On a Friday, I called and was told no one was available, but someone would call me back on Monday with an update. Monday came and went--no call by 2:00 p.m. I called again and was placed on hold until the call dropped. I tried again, was promised a callback "right away," and waited 45 minutes with no response. Frustrated, I called a third time and requested a refund. Once more, I was told someone would call me back. Eventually, I did get a call: they had the lenses but not the frames. Then they offered a similar style in black--I agreed to proceed. Later, another call came saying the frames weren't black after all, but grey. At this point, I was so fed up I just told them to use the grey ones. I'm finally supposed to pick them up tomorrow... I hope. After all this hassle, endless waiting, broken promises, and terrible communication, I seriously doubt I'll ever return.

When you first walk in, the reception area and frames section are very bright and clean. I love the exposed wooden beams. Everything, including exam room was clean and inviting. It may seem silly but they have an air purifier that was humming and felt like a calming, white noise while you wait for the Dr. I arrived 15 minutes early just in case I needed to do anything extra with checking in since it was my first visit. I had completed the new patient paperwork online ahead of time but gave myself that extra time just in case. Turns out, I didn't need it but no problem. The receptionist was welcoming and friendly while checking me in. My appt was set for 11:30 and at exactly 11:30, Chloe - Optician called me for the initial exams. She was very thorough and detailed every step and what she would be looking for. We had a friendly conversation and then she placed me in a room at about 11:50. I'm giving time stamps to help manage your expectations but of course, every patient may take less or more time depending on your needs and questions. Dr. Kirscht arrived at 12:07 for her part of the exam. She is kind, friendly, knowledgeable, thorough, and never made the visit feel rushed. She explained things I had never been told before and truly help my understanding of my vision, eye health, and needs going forward. Once finished there, the receptionist (I apologize I didn't catch her name), escorted me back to the front where she introduced James -Optician to help me select frames and discuss options. James was very kind and friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It's hard to pick out frames when you can't see yourself so I trusted his judgment. He gave great feedback and I found a pair pretty quickly that I loved. I was also able to purchase for $40 a pair of magnetic sunglasses frames for my glasses! I loved that this option was available. He also took time to explain what insurance covered and any out of pocket expenses. A bonus was I am able to pay 50% up front and remainder of balance when I pick up my frames which is a wonderful option for those needing it or just wanting to. I walked out by 12:50! So a little over an hour for everything and that included discussion of a Retina specialist. (Yes, I'm being referred if you read this pray for me ugh!) I've visited two other places in Allen for eye exams. None have been horrible or bad experiences but; I loved the vibe here, the welcoming staff, the clean environment, and the wealth of knowledge they all have in their field of expertise. Out of the 3 - this is by far my favorite. James was not pushy with up-selling nor try to talk me into grandiose frames that cost the most. It felt genuine and honest. I appreciate that. Dr. Zak is very personable, relatable, and explains everything very well. I highly recommend paying for the optomap (I think it's called that--where they don't dilate your eyes). They keep your files on record and you can easily compare year over year to look for changes. They're great about making sure the contacts and prescription are good fits and on my last visit the doctor scheduled me a week after my appointment to follow up on my prescription change. He heard my concerns and offered suggested causes and solutions. For the kids, I've had varied reviews for the techs that does the testing at the beginning of the appointment. They are often without kid-experience and can give vague instructions for the kids. My youngest is a wiggle wart so I have had to offer help. However, I will say that even though the testing and retesting and reretesting takes a long time, the techs never lose their patience or show frustration. You'll notice I still give a five star review because I still feel that we are welcome and are treated well. When I first went I read a review about someone who was so upset that their appointment turned into a medical visit and became expensive. I was nervous for my first visit, but I will say it was made very clear that a visit could become medical. That's a legal requirement for coding and to avoid fraud (if an eye appointment becomes medical it must be billed accordingly) not a sneaky medical practice. Overall, we're happy to make the drive (now 30 minutes) to continue to go to Rosemore.
