Now I have to have another eye exam at my own expense since my insurance had been used. The office personnel wouldn't return my calls and on my last call, she slammed down the receiver.

If I was only rating Dr. Ly, my review would have 5 stars. I struggle with having people and objects close to my face, so going to the eye doctor is stressful for me. The first part of my appointment was with a technician who led me through the tests. Everything was fine until she was taking my eye pressure with a tool that blew little puffs of air into my eye. She measured each eye and then went back to my right eye and blew three rapid succession puffs into my eye. I pulled back and she just shrugged her shoulders and walked out of the room. I don't remember her name, if she even gave it to me, but I sincerely hope I don't ever have her as a technician again. I feel she was extremely unprofessional and uncaring.

When you first walk in, the reception area and frames section are very bright and clean. I love the exposed wooden beams. Everything, including exam room was clean and inviting. It may seem silly but they have an air purifier that was humming and felt like a calming, white noise while you wait for the Dr. I arrived 15 minutes early just in case I needed to do anything extra with checking in since it was my first visit. I had completed the new patient paperwork online ahead of time but gave myself that extra time just in case. Turns out, I didn't need it but no problem. The receptionist was welcoming and friendly while checking me in. My appt was set for 11:30 and at exactly 11:30, Chloe - Optician called me for the initial exams. She was very thorough and detailed every step and what she would be looking for. We had a friendly conversation and then she placed me in a room at about 11:50. I'm giving time stamps to help manage your expectations but of course, every patient may take less or more time depending on your needs and questions. Dr. Kirscht arrived at 12:07 for her part of the exam. She is kind, friendly, knowledgeable, thorough, and never made the visit feel rushed. She explained things I had never been told before and truly help my understanding of my vision, eye health, and needs going forward. Once finished there, the receptionist (I apologize I didn't catch her name), escorted me back to the front where she introduced James -Optician to help me select frames and discuss options. James was very kind and friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It's hard to pick out frames when you can't see yourself so I trusted his judgment. He gave great feedback and I found a pair pretty quickly that I loved. I was also able to purchase for $40 a pair of magnetic sunglasses frames for my glasses! I loved that this option was available. He also took time to explain what insurance covered and any out of pocket expenses. A bonus was I am able to pay 50% up front and remainder of balance when I pick up my frames which is a wonderful option for those needing it or just wanting to. I walked out by 12:50! So a little over an hour for everything and that included discussion of a Retina specialist. (Yes, I'm being referred if you read this pray for me ugh!) I've visited two other places in Allen for eye exams. None have been horrible or bad experiences but; I loved the vibe here, the welcoming staff, the clean environment, and the wealth of knowledge they all have in their field of expertise. Out of the 3 - this is by far my favorite. James was not pushy with up-selling nor try to talk me into grandiose frames that cost the most. It felt genuine and honest. I appreciate that. I noticed the small shop when stopping by Happy Lemon, but have been too lazy to stop by. Luckily, they had a same-day appointment at 1:45 PM. I arrived early since my dental appointment was shorter than expected, and the optometrist was out for lunch. They said she would be back at 1:45 PM, but feel free to look around the store and try out different pairs of glasses. They have a vast variety of styles, ranging from China-made to Italian-made (expensive brands such as Coach, Gucci, Versace, and Rayban). I told them my info and they were able to look my insurance up in the system, along with all the details of my benefits. The glasses were all locked up, so you need a worker to open the case for you to try. It felt awkward compared to Visionworks because the worker was standing there watching you try on each pair. The optometrist didn't come back until past 2 PM, so I was waiting a while. However, one of the main technicians sat me down and explained all the fees and upgrade plans for each pair. He asked me to pick my favorite one, and he can tell me the exact price for that pair. He explained each process thoroughly, along with how much I'm expected to pay to get contacts prescription, retina x-ray, etc after my insurance coverage. I like the information because it made me understand the process better, but I did feel a little pressured to pick the most expensive one for insurance. The optometrist was very friendly. She spoke fluent English and Vietnamese, which is probably why most Vietnamese people go here for glasses. She gave an in-depth detail about my prescription, and how my eyesight decreased. She also recommended a new brand of daily contacts since my old color contacts were not helping with my astigmatism. After the eye exam, it was just a quick payment process since I already decided on my pair of glasses earlier. They said the wait time is around 2 weeks, which is typical. I just picked up my new pair of glasses today and I love them. It's very nice, and the lens feels high quality and durable. I did pay out-of-pocket an extra $250 for lens upgrade but it's worth the splurge for extra insurance. Overall, I like the number of glasses they offer, and it looks like they're getting more with new glass displays. The styles are much cuter than what you see at Visionworks, and Target Vision, so you'll be sure to find something you like. I would come back here next year!

I decided to finally get contacts the doctor gave me a sample pair to try for a week. A day before my follow up she called upon closing (6pm) to see how I felt or if I wanted to try a different pair to sample. I told her I was ok with the ones I had not knowing contacts felt different. She was real and honest with me and said you'll never know unless you try another sample which duh makes sense. They opened at 8:30AM the next day for me so I wouldn't be late to work, ontop of that the guy that brought me my sample had me try a tea he was making. This is a place that goes above and beyond and I am truly grateful for them. You have to give them a try I am truly shocked and amazed by their generosity!!
