Leaving here feeling really good about and confident in my previous retinal treatment with Dr Rostami. Kudos to him on his good work! However going forward I will be moving on over to this office. Here's why: *friendly efficient staff *very "dialed in" system here (very little waiting) *I was in and out of office in under 1 hour *Dr Choi has excellent bedside manner *Super knowledgeable about all areas effecting the retina and mine specifically *He put my big scary fears at ease *He explained things to me about the "trifecta" or perfect storm as he calls it in regards to my left eye. *This office also has a team of surgeons just like Dr Choi, season experienced and highly knowledgeable. *Dr Choi also discouraged me from Lasik with my left eye - too risky on that left eye. *Told me not to try and correct the floaters too risky Bottom line getting older sucks, being very near sighted sucks but at least I have Retina Specialists and Dr Choi in my corner! The Plano Office: The front office staff, MA/Tech, and Dr. Patel were all equally inept and…read moreuncaring. The front office staff were unhappy, unkind, and not receptive. They didn't even open the front window to provide patients with forms until AFTER 10-15 mins after we signed the sign-in sheet. Thankfully, I already filled out the forms online, so I only had to wait an hour. :/ After waiting an hour to be called back, the gal taking images of my eyes on the OCT machine didn't even wait until the light was green. It was mostly blue or red when she snapped a shot. The medical records gal was very unkind as well. She claimed some of my meds were not real meds because they were "just over-the-counter vitamins". When I told her 2 were treatment for severe Vitamin B12 and D deficiencies, she just said, "Oh". Not, "I'm sorry." Just, a callous "Oh". When we got to allergies, she claimed my allergy to a med wasn't a real allergy. So when I told her that that's what the hospital staff told me when I was treated for the allergic reaction to the med, I just got another uncaring "Oh". Dr. Santosh Patel was no better. He decided since I only have blurry vision and difficulty reading and making out details, but don't have light flickers or floaters, then there's no way I have a macular hole. This, BEFORE he even looked at the images of my eyes or reviewed my medical records. Then he belittled my Optometrist saying, "I can't believe he thought you had a hole in your right eye when you obviously have blood leakage". I told him, "I can believe it...because it was my LEFT eye he saw the hole in, not my right." When I asked him why I have bleeding in the retinal part of my right eye, he said it's either due to my diabetes or hypertension. When I told him I have neither. He said, "Oh, then there's no reason for the bleeding since you don't have either, and you're in perfectly good health otherwise." I said, "Really? Because I've had 13 surgeries, 3 in the past year and the most recent was my 3rd heart surgery, which I had a month ago. So do you think the bleeding might be due to any of my other health issues or meds, like Eliquis?" He said, "No, it's nothing to be concerned about. It'll resolve itself." Dr. Santosh Patel told me to return in 6 months to recheck. Not happening. STAY. AWAY. FROM. THIS. OFFICE.

I liked the fact that the building has huge letters on it "Eye Institute of Dallas" because frankly if you need eye surgery you can't possibly see the addresses on the buildings. So that was a good start and much appreciated. The office was clean and modern. They practiced. social distancing in the availability of chairs, which I liked tremendously. I arrived before my appointment time but I did not have to wait too long to get started. All of the people with whom I interacted were friendly, professional, and very competent. I went through a battery of exams to assess my situation. It was all very thorough. When I was able to see the doctor I did not feel as if he was trying to upsell me or rush me into something I did not need. I told him my situation and my end goals, and we decided on a course of action that seemed appropriate. The office manager spent about 20 minutes with me and explained everything. Dr. Mazaheri then came in and spoke with me for quite a while. The customer service was amazing. Every member of the staff was so informative. I had called around to many LASIK practitioners. I did my research. I decided to go with the flapless LASIK. My appointment was scheduled for 11/8/19. The procedure was painless and quick! The doctor checked , double checked, and triple checked everything. At no time did I experience any pain or anxiety. The doctor worked on my right eye first. He moved me from under the laser, and I could see!!!!! For the first time since I'm 41 years, I could see with out corrective lenses!!!! I immediately told him to do the left eye!!! It was AMAZING! I went home with extremely detailed instructions for after-care. Nothing was overlooked. I went in the next day for a quick check. I had followed directions explicitly. I experience NO PAIN! My vision improved more each day. I was watching TV without glasses!!!! I am in heaven. 5 days after surgery, I went to my appointment where the doctor removed the protective contact lenses. I would like to share my story and background if my history relates to other prospects considering the PRK procedure. I am a 40-year-old male, and before my surgery, my prescription was -4.25/-4.50 with a slight/mild astigmatism in both eyes. I started needing glasses at the age of 12 and I was in contacts by 13. About 5 years ago, I started noticing the discomfort of wearing contacts on a daily basis. I would come home from work, and immediately take them out, if I had no plans that evening. I also have extremely dry eyes, and usually use re-wetting drops frequently. I have always found glasses to be a nuisance, and wearing them for long periods of time gave me a headache. My goal was to get Lasik by the time I turned 40. I priced out the surgery with several surgeons in the D/FW metro-plex, including my optometrist, and I found the PRK procedure to be rather competitive to the traditional Lasik procedure, so I decided to make an appointment with Dr. M./M Lasik Center since there was no fee for the consultation. (I ended up paying about $200 more than what my eye doctor quoted me, based on my prescription, and considering my astigmatisms.) Halfway through the consultation, I already knew I had decided that this is the route I wanted to go. Dr. M. encouraged me to do my research first before making a solid decision, but I was already sold. During the consultation, Dr. M. has you watch a video of his competitor (a local Lasik surgeon) that had Dr. M. perform the PRK procedure on all 5 of her children. There's really not much more that needed to be said at that point. I have heard stories about how many Lasik patients feel like cattle during their procedure, as other institutions perform this procedure in droves. At M Lasik Center, there's only one procedure at a time, and Dr. M. performed it himself, with his nurse in the room to assist him. After the procedure, I was taken into a post-recovery room, where I was the only one in there. I felt like I was the only patient that day, and cannot relate to other stories that I have heard. Post-surgery: I did have a lot of headaches and I was overly fatigued, but that was due to the fact that my eyes were sensitive to the steroid drops given, which is rare, but in my case, it happened. I do keep my eyes moistened throughout the day, as post-PRK patients need to since the eyes can be dry for 6-12 months after surgery. The headaches are due to your eyes trying to adjust to their new setting, and that does not recalibrate overnight. Just be patient and understand that it is part of the process. If you don't choose M Lasik Center, you should at least consider the free consultation. If you do choose Dr. M., just remember that the PRK procedure is different than the traditional Lasik procedure. Do NOT listen to your friends or others that have had the traditional Lasik procedure, because you might hear some conflicting information. Pay attention to Dr. M. and follow every instruction he gives. It can be scary and you probably will be nervous, but you are in great hands and within a couple of months after the surgery, your only regrets will be that you didn't do this sooner.

Fifteen years after a very successful cataract surgery on my right eye with no problems, I was on a golf trip in Baja California with my buddies and my lens decided to dislodge out of the back of the pocket it was positioned in. Dr. Frazee made arrangements to see me right away when I returned to Plano, made an immediate diagnosis with an urgent exam, and referred me the same day to both retina specialist and corneal specialists as secondary lens implantation is a niche specialty itself. Today I received a bill for a test that I thought was part of a regular exam. I'm a little upset to say the least, as I was not informed of the extra charge. It was a field of vision test. $74. The refraction test is an extra $55 but I was made aware of that. All totaled, the bill was $785 for that day not including the tests that I paid for! The ins.adjustment was $505. So I paid $279.50 and now they want another $74.50.
